He will make a great President if he get the ticket...you see people like Akinwumi Adesina or Kingsley Moghalu are good for Nigeria, but they lack the structure to win election..that is just the fact we all should accept. Politics is not for the kind mind or honest type..it a dangerous game non of this two can play.

We can effect change if we ignore the so called political structure and vote for a credible leader based on facts. I don't want Tinubu, but you have argued points based on what he has done previously, which is a fair argument. But some people may vote for Tinubu just because he is a god father and has money to give away, heck this is the reason why PDP is leaning towards a person like Atiku. We can change it by ignoring these so called big wigs as much as we can (especially the ones who have nothing to offer) and vote for reasonable candidates based on their credentials.

By the time youre in consideration for president; then you meet some basic criteria; that is you've done something previously enough to be a serious candidate. Dont tell us about building primary schools and desks 25yrs ago - tell us their proposal to fix nigeria current problems.

What CHANGE are they proposing to fix electricity crisis? Any single idea. That is interesting debate.

Next Boko Haram/Fulani Cows/Cattle rustling/ Islamic extermisms? Any ideas?

Next poverty & unemployment? Any ideas.

GeneralDae:

Exactly why Governor Muranga is my preffered candidate. Trust me, Kenyans need those free cows.

But let me ask you this:
When you interview candidates for a job, what is your scoring criteria? Is it:
1) The Ideas they supposedly have( what they said they would do)? OR
2) What they have done before?

Ruto has done enough to rise from MP to Minister to Deputy President. If our president die like Yardua - he will become president like Goodluck. He is like your Obisanjo. You should focus on what Obisanjo promises to fixes Nigeria problems. Not listing 100 nonsensical things that he has done in office. If you need to list things you've done then you've done nothing. A good CV is one pager. If you've been a CEO of fortune 500 company - that is one line. Anybody intelligent enough should know what CEO of big company does.

So change the conversation from what Obina did or Tinubu did as state governors or Obisanjo did as VP - and focus on what they are promising to do - ask yourselves if they have their understood Nigeria contemporary challenges, and what are their proposals to fix those issues.

Obina, Tinubu, Obisanjo, Atiku - they are qualified - having been state governors or vice presidents before - so as much as you want to focus on their track record - it wont help solve the current problems. They need to be all over telling Nigerians how they can wipe the shame of lacking 24hours of electricity. It's totally completely insane not have 24hours of electricity - even Somali Mogadishu has 24 hours of electricity.

GeneralDae:

So what has Ruto done previously that makes him capable? How do you know he can do what he promised? I am sure Uhuru also promised Heaven and Earth.

A mini zoo has 20 percent inflation, 20 percent base interest, 20 percent currency depreciation but at least you still get reasonable amount of electricity, some water, zero sewage and security.

Kenya is obviously not a zoo...at least most parts of it where most people live...we have problems where some parts are complete zoos...we are near south africa in unequal development..and that is our challenge. There are areas where poverty is almost 80-90 percent - those are mostly the northern parts of kenya that are remote, arid and wild.

Otherwise if you live in Nairobi - there is very little difference with Europe.

Isn't it surprising? They say investors don't come because we don't have peace or electricity, yet, out of 75 fastest growing companies in Africa, we have 21 and even Kenya with the electricity and better/faster Internet has 9.
Lagos alone (without electricity) and with 25 million people has 65 registered companies, same as the entire Kenya. Lagos is the number 1 start up ecosystem in the continent.

Lagos is now the top startup city in Africa.

Nigeria has increased significantly, gaining five spots to rank 63rd globally. It is the highest-ranking country in Western Africa and the 3rd highest-ranking country in Africa.

Lagos, Nigeria's most populous city, has surpassed Nairobi and is now the highest-ranking city in Africa, gaining five spots to 122nd. Lagos has also ranked in the global top 50 cities for E-commerce & Retail Technology and in the global top 100 for both Transportation Technology and Education Technology.

Ibadan saw a massive increase in ranking, jumping 601 spots to 353rd globally and 2nd in Nigeria, surpassing the Nigerian capital of Abuja. The latter, ranked 3rd nationally, fell 12 spots to 466th, while Port Harcourt decreased by six spots to 906th. The newest Nigerian city in the rankings, Enugu, ranks 978th globally and 5th nationally. Benin City has increased nine spots to 979th, while Kano jumped 14 spots to 981st.

In total, Nigeria has seven cities in the global top 1000 and continues to have the highest number of ranked cities of any African nation.

What you just suggested are wishes far from reality...no one wins an election without structure, election goes beyond ordinary people on the street, there must be connection between the contestants with individual who commands respect within their locality..those capable of influencing votes..this are oligarchs, people of high caliber.. employers, civil servants etc.

You can't change that even in advance countries this is how politics play out...

Advanced countries already have a system that works that's why they can elect just anybody if they wish to. It's just like becoming the coach of Barcelona in 2012, anybody can coach that team even without great ability.

You nigerians are messed up.
How the hell does an index on tech startups become a measure of quality of life in Lagos.
So having 10 or 20 tech companies more than Nairobi is something to shout about.
Majority of these start ups in Nigeria are diasporain Nigeria kids.
Heck if your football was exclusive club of diaspora kids... you'd be proud of a team of diaspora kids....born, brought up and nurtured in London or Newyork.
Fix the BASICS - Electricity, Water, Sewage, Roads, Rails - then come and talk.

You're bunch of ZOogerians living in a ZOO!
When I am in Nairobi or Europe my QOL (quality of life) is almost the same.
Basic stuff like electricity, internet, water, sewage, - kenya is better than some part of Europe.
FIX BASICS.
Dont come and tell us about tech startups or Dangote.

Tell us ABOUT
1) WORLD WORST COMMUTE
2) WORLD WORST ELECTRICITY
3) TOTAL ABSENCE OF SEWAGE
4) TOTAL ABSENCE OF PIPED WATER
5) TOTAL ABSENCE OF ROADS AND RAILS
6) TOTAL ABSENCE OF PERSONAL SECURITY

Most countries on Earth with oil aren’t filthy rich. Oil isn’t a free ticket or magic. That’s a myth only believed by the ignorant and low IQs.

All those perimeters you listed Nigeria has better than Kenya.

Nigeria has one of the best commutes in the developing world. Far better than Kenya.

It has better electricity than Kenya.

It does have sewage systems. More than Kenya.

It has some of the best piped water by African standards. Better than Kenya.

It has one of the largest and fastest growing road and rail networks in Africa. Far ahead of Kenya.

It has the 4/5th best security in Africa leaving most of the insecurity happening in the smaller fringe communities. Terrorist defiantly aren’t strolling into the Heart of Nigerian capital cities and turning them into blood baths annually. How does a Somali terror group regularly terrorize Nairobi Zombies? Pathetic.

The more you try to reduce Nigeria; the more you reduce Kenya because Nigeria is superior to you by most perimeters.

Kenya is the most grand Zoo of all. A place where an adventure can see both large exotic animals living there natural lives in the wild along with (humans)Kenyans living in the same wild, in huts, or urban slum cages.

The only thing that appears to be absent here is your brain.

i dont think there are many independence struggles in africa that were fought in this manner
kenya was meant to be a settler colony like south africa was upto 1993, the british air dropped thousands of bombs in forests to attempt to snuff out the Mau mau, relocated hundreds of villages into concentration camps.
