The truth of the matter is that Yoruba Muslims actually exist. But their level of devotion is proportionately tied to their level of extremism.

The ones belonging to a strong sect, goes to the mosque all the time and have a madras are the craziest ones among them. Education makes some easy to relate with while westernization through the influence of the Christians makes others easy to relate with.


Another thing is that, there are a lot of them practicing African traditional religion vis-a-vis their Islam. Those ones carry masquerade even if it's one week after Ramadan. Those ones never get violent. They believe that their god doesn't reject juju.

So it depends on their level of devotion. But the more religiously serious they are, the more they're likely to engage in what these northerners did.
