This is not certain, I called the Sheffield Hallam Nigeria team yesterday & she said they stop processing admission for a week now, & also she said international applications for September intake was closed since January .
I got a mail to defer to January & i applied in February! ( public health)

Nairaland may represent only a fraction of the people that get student visa's from Nigeria and only a fraction of different experiences at the border.Waiting for anyone to confirm your no 1 question may not happen and may not be true.If people say it hasn't happened doesn't mean it doesn't happen and vice versa

Besides, is the funds not supposed to be for your study? Spending it should be towards studying.

Have you checked the schools site or sent an email to the African rep?

I do know you have to pay £4000 deposit and get that up to £8000 before you enrol.

I'll confirm the rest of the details later today

Look elsewhere, writing them for payment plan when they have already told you what they want means you don't have the money to start with,going forward it also means they will doubt whatever you or other Nigerians present as POF.
Just let go and look for anyone with a friendly payment plan.
No spoil road for others.

Very good advice. You can't be negotiating payment plans before CAS is being issued. This will send a wrong signal. We need to be logical in our approach.

The point of entry part it rarely happens especially if you’re traveling solo , but ! No one can tell if you might be ‘unlucky’
Just have some cash with you & hope for the best.

And yes definitely keep it till you get a decision on your visa

That is what it is.
You Carry yourself and your wife plus 4 other children enter UK in top say you wan come study for one year and you expect them not to ask you how you intend to sustain yourselves?
They know all the tricks we deployed to get to the UK,but they also need to protect their own institutions,their country from any form unfavorable condition/s.
That is where their own patriotism lies
