On this thread, I have shown a few months ago that Conte wanted Morata just like he wanted Rudiger and Bakayoko. The only argument Chelsea fans can make is that they were not his first choice players per position to which I will agree. Rudiger was the next choice to VVD and Morata was the next choice to Lukaku. Conte's anger was that the valuation of his first choice players was rejected by Chelsea.

People forget that Liverpool were supposed to have got VVD the summer before he actually came for 50M but they choked the deal which annoyed Southampton so they upped his price to 75M. This is what put Chelsea off and Liverpool knowing they were going to receive Coutinho money added the 25M extra and got the player. Same with Lukaku who was valued at 70M but when United raised their bid to around 90M with add-ons Chelsea could not compete so they went with their next choice.

Conte simply wanted the board to pay whatever the selling club wanted and Chelsea board would not do it. End of story.
