South East no go vote because of IPOB

Who Atiku we'd go come choose now? I guess it depends on who wins APC primary

Is there a possibility for an Atiku Wike ticket with Atiku as President

This Simon guy is a clown oooo

Was on a twitter space that he hosted, he is very dumb and shallow, very ignorant too, hates any contrarian view, his way or the highway

He will ask question and underrate answers that are against his world view

All you keep doing is basking in the euphoria, derived from our hopelessness, of the sorrow and collective anguish Nigerians share over our disastrous leadership.

Tell us dayo, who do you wish and support to be our next president and give reasons why.

Who I want is not important, the system in Nigeria or most democracy does not allow for any single person to make any change

Unless they go authoritarian like Putin

All this talks of Organic support they burst my head. Organic support ko manure support ni.
Imagine starting your Presidential campaign a year to the elections when you don't even have any structure, even the party structure of your state o. The only structure you have is your hounds of BMC lite supporters who would rather insult and term anyone who doesn't support you an enemy of Nigeria.
We all know that the reason Peter obi even wanted to contest the primaries in the first place was because the VP slot was not on the table.

Peter obi is intelligent and probably the best bet at realigning Nigeria to a great path but he needs to rethink his politics. Leaving PDP actually takes him further away from the presidency sef.

Wike is egotistical and he's been very critical of the nPDP sect that helped elect Buhari in 2015. I no sure say him go gree.

It's likely to be a Wike/Tambuwal ticket.

Atiku has the money but I'm not sure how much reach he has, especially as he left the country after 2019 elections.

I said it before that there is no third force in this country

The likes of Obi would go and sleep after elections. They wouldn't strategize for the next. No structures. No alliances. Nothing. Then four years later, he resurrects and thinks he'll win because sane people are on Twitter

Politics is a game of numbers....Numbers.

You need to have the larger number to win. That's the aim. Not education, intelligence, and all that.

Someone has not won ticket, and they are organising 1 million march for him. The 1 million people are useless in party primaries.

I like the guy, but he doesn't seem like he's serious politically

All these energy expended on this thread is for nothing. You all know that APC will win again. Which is why the PDP primaries is a big deal. It is the last big chance for the delegates to cash out.

I do not even need to be very politically savvy to know exactly what will happen. The man with the most money will get the PDP delegates. But nationally, he will not beat whoever the APC will present.

Wait for the APC primaries. Barring an act of God, their candidate will win the 2023 elections. So just pray they select the right man.

The chances of that happening are very slim, Wike has been very critical of the PDP guys that left prior to the 2015 election. Wike has openly attacked them during his meetings with the delegates. I also think that atiku will look towards the west for his VP. But in politics you never know , never say never.

THIS IS WHAT I HATE WITH PASSION.

We have one full year to the elections and we the youths are giving up already! Why??

Why can't we just commit to do our bit and be satisfied with the little role we play.

Vast majority of Nigerians are unencumbered with next years election. Many still have severe voting apathy. How about we try and make sure that every single person around us makes the effort to register and vote??
Why don't we try to just make something happen individually and then see what the future has to offer?

Why must we remain hopeless about the future?

You are too idealistic. Nigerian politics is still dollar politics. The man who can pay the piper will dictate the tune. Once you accept that, you can tweak your idealism to accommodate it and maybe you'll get the lesser of 2 evils.

Don't forget the power of incumbency. It will play a major role as well.

Are you not aware that within the last few months peter obi has visited 30 states in Nigeria to canvass for delegate votes just like others?
He didn't stand a chance because others who have looted our national and state treasuries dry are blinding people with money and that's simply not his style. He even became a governor in Nigeria via the courts because he didn't subscribe to godfatherism.

We as the youthful Nigerians should not just accept the status quo and give up. We know we have the numbers to carry out a seismic shift away from these 2 parties. It's about creating the awareness.

I fail to fall into the mindless hopelessness of our politics. I choose to believe that there is still a glimmer of hope. Enough can happen within a year to shift the balance of power in Nigeria.

It took only TWO YEARS after the formation of APC for them to take power from the PDP who people said was invincible. I independently campaigned vigorously for them then, I was ecstatic when they won, thinking there will be change, it didn't work out. Now we go again.

One million March was very funny to be honest, it's not the general election yet so what was the need for that.

I feel ur spirited efforts but I must tell u, that which u hope for is not feasible in the foreseeable future If the youth and those clamoring for third force keep doing the same
old mistake .

1. The APC we speak of today as the ruling party was formed February 6 2013 following the merger of 3 well established parties ; CPC, ACN and ANPP. The conveners didn’t even stopp at the merger alone; they wooed defectors from PDP, some Factions of APGA and other minor parties. This means the party despite boasting of already established politicians from different major parties still took 2 good years of planning , scheming , propaganda , organizing , consulting and politicking before it did the unimaginable by seizing power from the ruling party.

2. People like Peter Obi and his followers will come up less than a year to a general election with no grassroots mobilization, no serious party structure in place and then boom! They talk about plans of transforming the country , plans of ridding the country of the endemic corruption , plans of ending poverty etc all to a tiny proportion of the entire voting population that uses the social media / news to form their political opinion. They forget about the market man and woman that forms his political opinion and decisions vide hearsay that their friends who are members of either APC or PDP pander and argue about it. They forget about the fisherman in Rijau, Niger state whose only source of news is BBC Hausa he listens to on his transistor radio that talks about APC and PDD all day.

3. This is the same mistake PDP and other parties make in Lagos that it seems like AD, AC, ACN , APC or any tinubu party will continue to win in Lagos. I loathe Tinubu for a lot of reasons but u can never fault that grassroots mobilization he’s been able to build for years. PDP with a party secretariat that the landlord always call them out for owing rents will just start pasting posters 1 year to election yet no functional party structure in all the 20
LGA’s and 57 LCDA’s in the state ; they do not even hold ward meetings weekly like APC does across all LGA’s and LCDA’s , yet they expect people to just vote for them because they are the Moses to deliver Lagosians from Emperor Bola Tinubu Pharaoh. Smh

4. Any serious third force either in Lagos or Nigeria that wants to be taken serious needs to get its homework done. It’s not about guilt tripping the people or blackmailing them emotionally and claiming they have Stockholm syndrome by continually voting their oppressors . You need to make the people know you first , let them understand your ideology over time, make them believe you can be that change they desire and then beat that incumbent party at the their own game of propaganda . It is only then u can at least stand a chance .

This is my personal opinion , I may be wrong on some of them sha

APC was a conglomeration of CPC and ACN (former AD). CPC had a very strong presence in the north and Buhari who is unimpeachable in their eyes. Then ACN had moneybags and the whole of the South West. Even at that, PDP needed to have one of the worst presidents in recent history, Goodluck Jonathan, to narrowly lose. Hardly the same situation.

Nobody cares for all that ideology claptrap. Like Wizkid said "show me the money".

The delegates determine who you and I would vote. That's a fact.

My voter's card is useless in a Party primary elections. Those assigned to vote will determine who 200 million people will choose from.

That was why I said Obi has no structure. Nothing. He was/is at the mercy of other political aspirants to scale through the party primaries.

I am sure he noticed that the VP slot was off the table, and he resigned.

Lets try to keep emotions aside for a while. The man wouldn't have scaled through the primaries even if 1 billion Africans marched for him

I can't wrap my head around people giving up soo early.

In 2014, PDP was the largest political party in Africa and they didn't believe they would lose power. A 2nd strong force emerged and people said, the party would implode before 2015 and they weren't strong enough to win a national election. Come 2015, they DID. Corruption was high, we had a disgraceful first lady, soo much fuel ques and economic disruptions. People wanted a breath of fresh air and voted in the new force.

They have FAILED. Now we rise again and do what we did in 2015. Vote them out. AT ALL LEVELS.

Of course, that was his point. To show his political weight so that whoever becomes the main presidential candidate, *coughs* Atiku *coughs* will select him as the VP.

Are you seriously asking me the Question? I've never voted for any Candidate (at all levels) before. 2019 General Elections, i wasn't a Resident of Nigeria. I followed everything on SM; Twitter, Facebook and our darling Nairaland.

But we have to be honest, and as a Realist, Constestants like PO have no chance at all. Kingsley Moghalu, Durotoye and Co are brilliant Heads, Technocrats per excellence, how did they perform at last Elections? Woefully of course.

Real Voters are not online. Most of them don't use smart phones. Their smart communication gadget is dry cells powered transistor-Radio. I mentioned Atiku and Wike because they've got money to spend. I mentioned Saraki because he's most cunny politician at the moment in Nigeria.

In APC, Jagaban has no Match. VP and Cos are just Pretenders. Just imagine Jagaban against PO? Elections will end by 12pm and Winner will be declared by 2:15pm...... that's REALITY in Nigeria of today.

Let's be honest with ourselves Don J, as much as we all want a change, it won't be possible in this 2023 general elections. To win the presidential election in Nigeria, you need a structure in each and every local government in Nigeria. How many days do we have left to the general election to be able to do that? Who even have the funds to even try to attempt that?
All these third force talks always comes up when it's close to general election every four years, why ? For Nigeria to have a third force, aggressive grass root structures and politicking has to be in place years (4+ ) before the election.

Check the average age of a typical Nigerian. The number of Nigerians with access to smartphones and the internet. The number with access to television and radio.

Then you'll understand that all this 'grassroots' and 'social media doesn't win' talks are simply euphemisms for moneybag politics, for the fact that a lot of people simply do not care about progress as long as they're well fed.

Every other talking point about voters is a fugazi. Those underrating the power of SM should please take a look at the Arab Spring and, closer to home, the Endsars protests.
