casualobserver: Imagine! You have no candidate, yet you are quick to tear down someone that has brought fresh perspectives on rebuilding Nigeria! The best of them all, keeping his campaign all about the resolving the issues while others are busy bribing delegates!! I thought you had a better candidate so that you will convince me to join you. I am done here sir !!! 2 Likes |

I met Mr. Peter Obi in Paris, sometime in 2016. I was travelling to Nigeria and was waiting for our boarding to be announced. And there he was, just standing at the airport lobby like the rest of us 'normal people'. My first thought was, that can't possibly be Mr. Peter Obi, the former governor of Anambra State. I mean, he was just standing there. Yes, he was no longer in office, but at least a personal assistant, abi? But he looked too much like Mr. Peter Obi, so I decided go and say hello. "Good morning sir," I started, then introduced myself. "Are you Mr. Peter Obi, the former governor of Anambra State?" "Yes I am," he kindly replied. Smiling, ever so kindly. Not a single air of superiority about him. We exchanged pleasantries, and talked for a couple of minutes; then I asked him, "Do you speak Igbo, sir? I don't know why we're speaking English if we both speak Igbo." Yes, I know it sounds foolish now but that was the question I asked. He chuckled and replied that I was speaking English to him, hence he responded in English. We talked about this and that, and I thanked him for all he accomplished as a governor. Soon, it was time to board, and we said goodbye. Several hours later, I got up to use the toilet. The airplane was very quiet, most of the people were either sleeping or watching something. That was when I saw Mr. Peter Obi again. He was reading something, no, not something, he was reading his Bible! Now, don't get me wrong. I know he Is not contesting for the position of pastor of Nigeria, but it does say something about the man. And He wasn't reading it from a device (I wouldn't have noticed if that was the case, just walking down the aisle). He had his Bible, the book itself. I've met a few celebrities or 'famous' people while travelling and I have never asked to take a picture with them. Me, I like to respect myself. But there was something about this man. And suddenly, all I heard about him and all he did as governor, came to mean more. He has a good foundation, he is a structure that will stand the test of time (or Nigeria as I think of it now). So I went and got my phone, and politely asked if we could take a selfie, and he obliged. He actually took the picture himself, with my phone, because he is taller than me and when I tried to take the picture, it didn't look good so I left it in the capable hands of Mr. Peter Obi. I thanked him for the picture and went back to my seat. Now, there was a man, Sydney Granville Elton, or Pa Elton, as he came to be fondly called. As a young man growing up in England, he heard the LORD speak to him to locate a town called Illesha. He searched and confirmed such a town existed, and spent the next 50 years of his life there, died and was buried there as he desired. Pa Elton arrived to an ongoing revival in Ilesha and would come to mentor Pa Babalola and other great men of God, the likes of Bishop Benson Idahosa, Pastor E.A. Adeboye, Pastor W.F. Kumuyi, Bishop Emeka Nwankpa, Pastor Gbile Akanni, Bishop Francis Wale Oke etc. The above was just to introduce Pa Elton. Pa Elton was no stranger to the prophetic. Now this is one of his prophecies over Nigeria: "Africa is like the gun and Nigeria is the nozzle. There will come a time when Nigeria will be known for corruption. But a time will come also, when she will be known for righteousness. Nigeria and Nigerians will be known all over the world for corruption. Your name Nigeria will stink for corruption but after a while, a new phase will come a phase of righteousness. People from the nations of the earth will hold to a Nigerian and say, We want to follow you to your nation to go and learn righteousness.” - Pa Sydney Granville Elton. Have we experienced the time when the Name Nigeria stank for corruption? Is it time for the other part of the prophecy to be fulfilled? Are we ready to take our place as the giant of Africa? May we be as the sons of Issachar who had understanding of the times! May it please the LORD to take away our reproach! May we suffer hunger now (if need be), refuse politics of the belly, and create a country we would be proud of! Remember, everything rises and falls with leadership. Our past leaders were not strangers; they came from among us or from the corruption among us and corruption has permeated every fibre of our lives, and our leaders justly reflected that. I sincerely hope that the sun is setting on corruption in Nigeria and the dawning of a new day is within our reach. Nigeria is way too rich to be poor. Poverty should not be associated with a country that is blessed like Nigeria. Nigeria, with her wealth of diverse people and natural resources, CAN truly, in every sense of the word, be the giant of Africa - the trigger that allows Africa to take her rightful place. What Nigeria lacks is good leadership! If you are still uncertain as to the importance of good leadership, look at the state of our country despite its enormous natural resources. Mr. Peter Gregory Obi is the most credible and eligible candidate we have. I said to myself, Mr. Peter Obi must do whatever it takes to give Nigerians the option to vote for him and ensure that he will be on the ballot paper, come what may. And he has started that process. May God Bless Nigeria with Mr. Peter Gregory Obi. #PeterObi |

TheExclusive: again you have evaded the issue You claim he has brilliant ideas but fail to state them. At least in your private moments ask yourself why are you really supporting him if you are afraid or have no confidence in stating what he is about. I dont know you, you dont know me but think about what i said Unfortunately this is the problem I always find with supporters of some candidates, when it comes down to it, they cannot defend their so called conviction, they are just as much hot air as the candidates but they are the ones who will start complaining about bad governments and sadly have the most to lsoe once these mediocre candidates get elected. Likw I said I have respect for those who say he is Ibo so I am voting for him, it is a legitimate reason from an Ibo mans perspective. The worst form of supporter is the one who says he is the messiah, he has brilliant ideas but cannot state talk less defend those ideas. I can disagree with you and respect you but I have nothing but contempt for a man or woman who doesnt know why he or she does what he or she does, you might as well have been born a dog a or a goat!!! |

You're even more foolish than the person I quoted for insulting other candidates because you support Obi. Keep on acting stupidly on a faceless forum for a man who doesn't even know if you exist. Hype your candidate in peace and move on. |

TheExclusive: You know what they say: the problem with democracy is calibre of people that vote. unfortunately the electorate as you have exemplified are unintelligent, and lack critical thinking. You stated Obi has brilliant ideas, you didnt ask for my candidate when you stated that. So why do you meed my candidate to state these brilliant ideas....because you are afraid there are no brilliant ideas!!! One would think that if your candidate is so brilliant you would only be so eager to comvince a man who is undecided and has no candidate, after all your candidate faces an uphill task and needs every vote he can get!!! If you cannot articulate the brilliance or even the policies of your candidate how has your education made you any different from the farmers, market women,, motor park touts or okada riders? Seriously you should be ashamed of your self!!! The sad thing about people like you is that the people I listed above are actually more intelligent than you....why? because they are the delegates who determine who you vote for and ultimately who will become your president!!!! The least you could at least do to yourself against these sad odds is to know why you support the candidate you support and be able to articulate it and convince some of these people as you come across them in your daily lives but as we see even you dont know why you do what you so. |

Join APGA so those tagging him and his supporters tribal bigots would nail him? Go and listen to him and understand the core of his campaign. Labour should be one of the best platform if they'd be neutral. Peter Obi just needs a platform with less baggage, then all his supporters do the rest. Only naive people think Obi's popularity is only amongst the igbos Eastlink: |

casualobserver: You are setting the HIGHEST benchmark for this man when we are governed by literal, actual, criminals? From my knowledge of politics, full manifesto's come AFTER candidates have secured the tickets which Peter Obi only did a matter of HOURS ago. Please do not try to use these epistle's to bully people. You are well informed but you clearly don't know all and you have not watched all of Peter Obi's speeches. He has said over and over again how we can take the Bangladeshi and vietnamese models of exporting clothes! We have the skillset and women are always the biggest beneficiaries! Both of those countries earn more exporting clothes than we do oil! |

[quote author=Eastlink post=113229214]APGA is not an Igbo party. It started off well until Peter Obi and Umeh made it so. Obi returning to APGA to restrategize with other like-minds to use their popularity and clean the South-East would have sent shivers down the spine of PDP. And who says they can be another merger come 2027 by say APGA (The ruling SE party) and another regional party elsewhere to win the federal. You're spot on with your analysis, but his fans are too blinded by sentiment to see it. Buhari was able to become president because he had the patience and self-worth to start and maintain a party that was molded in his political beliefs. Same goes for Tinubu, he was also smart and diligent in creating and sustaining his own political party which was equally molded in his own political beliefs and ideologies, and when in 2011 the two parties merged, it was a political tsunami that not even the then ruling party could withstand. Obi with all his popularity is all talk and no substance, if not, how can you keep jumping from one party to another? Why can't you strategis and patiently build your own party with people of like minds the way Buhari and Tinubu did? Instead he just want to jump ahead of the queue and rip where he did not sow. Tomorrow now when the real owners of labour party start treating him unfairly he would jump out again. What a pity. |
