It’s true! I am here in Benin city and my wife work in the civil service.

This is even channel tv news that is kinda of anti-obaseki especially during the last elections.

Same with Vanguard that recently gave him the Governor of the year award. Some people where like he bought the award. I was like Obaseki a miser buy an award from Vanguard who at a point was anti-Obaseki.

You can ask anyone working Edo state civil service or pensioners if they have not been receiving their salaries and pensions promptly every month. Even during the peak of Covid-19 when other states where slashing salaries or unable to pay promptly, Obaseki never defaulted either salaries or pension.

He doesn’t joke with workers and pensioners emoluments.

Burgerlomo:
Very commendable if it's true

Good morning Nairalanders
We really need help, our house rent expired last month and the care taker has been giving us tough time to come and settle the bills, but as it stands now, we don't have enough to pay the house rent, salaries has not been paid and we hardly find it hard to even feed with the present situation in Nigeria..

Please whatever help anyone can render to us will be appreciated, I pray you will never lack any good things in life in Jesus name..

Stop being delusional!

The man is doing his bit and he is not the type of governor that does projects commissioning before use. Like the area where I lived in Benin city, there are tons of projects. Tons of roads newly constructed and also rehabilitated ( I know this is how your likes rate a working governor, coming on air to do a paparazzi show off). Even at that he is building roads but I keep wondering why I have not seen him commission these projects before use.

He just build projects, once completed, the next day people start using it. Nothing like the usual ribbon scissors cutting camera show off. Many hate him because he does not spend on frivolity.

He is called wake and see for a reason.

Take for instance the recent bus terminal newly constructed, I went there and saw it’s now being used and I was like, why does this man not even commission projects before use?

I can point to a lot of visible projects, policy formations, workers warfare, workforce training and retraining and tons of good governance oriented projects this man has done and doing that I never saw him do a paparazzi show off on.

He is a kind of build and use governor. Because he doesn’t do all those usual fanfair paparazzi projects commissioning thingy does not mean he is not working inspite of the recent paucity of funds some other governors keep complaining about.

I was reading through this same 40k minimum wage and prompt salaries for pensioners and civil servants payment confirmation on his official twitter few days ago and guy commented that he was lying that salaries are not being paid as at when due.

I checked this twitter profile GBAM! He was a pro Tinubu judging by the type of contents on his walls. I was like this someone not residing in Edo saying all these.

It dawned on me that many just hate him because of the way he stood his ground and fought to a standstill the Tinubu and Oshiomole gang up against him because of that people always want to always paint the picture of Edo made a mistake electing and those fake news stories.

Obaseki is not the type of those agbero governor. He is sound, working and doing his bit.

Yes there other areas he needs to do better but he is working and lets commend him in this areas where we can see and feel his works while we also criticize him in areas where he is failing and needs to do better.

Yes you are very correct, if you don't walk around, you won't even know obaseki is doing any project in town. No noise or news ceoverage about it. The day I saw the bus park I was surprised, although we had some bus drivers still complain, but I told them it was a start at least. I remember I was one of those say we need a flyover in benin City, the governor was asked that question. Why are there no fly overs in benin, he said fly overs are like aesthetics. White elephant project for now. He said Benin has one of the highest numbers of link and interconnected road network in the country. What we need is to fix these roads so that it can ease traffic and that's truth. I saw his point and ever since then I stopped talking about flyovers. We earn the least among our south south sister states. We are just carrying ourselves small small. I think it's better self. No too much national drama. The governor believes so much in human capital development. Till now he is less of a politician, all the politicking is still being done by Shuaibu.

yes, water down this achievement, since your governor can not achieve this, then it is a fake achievement by Obaseki, stop this foolishness biko - Edo is a leading civil service state in Nigeria - it is not LAGOS, RIVERS, DELTA or AKWA IBOM we are talking about here- this is Edo where civil service work is like 60% of ALL jobs in the state

Oh my goodness!

Why do some of you guys just open your mouth wow and lie without conscience!

So meaning all the positions they left is vacant?

Do you know that recruiting of civil service in edo state is now a continuous projects via the EdoJobs.

First time in the state people are getting employment based on competence and merits in most ministries with lesser connections unlike before?

Like in the ministry where my wife works in the health sector there have been continuous replacement of staff who have mostly been JAPA-ing to the UK for greener pasture.

How can you guys just come and boldly say things that is not correct? I fear una ooooo

Edo state government should construct roads, the last time I visited Benin I couldn't believe what I saw.......Most of the street roads are terrible, a pregnant woman could have miscarriage on those road. One of them is that one by Rock Of Ages church, don't know the name of the street. I had back pain for 1wk after I left Benin.

That way, they will learn to be real and truthful to themselves while you watch from afar

I may not know of any projects being executed in Edo state st present, but if this news about 40k minimum wage payment is a reality , encomiums should be showered on the governor. He has taken a giant stride in improving the quality of lives of Edo citizens and begun to inject more money in the Edo economy every month.

I know that workers across the country and those working with the federal govt can benefit from this kind gesture, if selfishness is eschewed by the governors and the federal government.
