I didn't see the first half.

Moses turns were okay but had no end product

Rafiu's shot. You want to hang him for taking a shot at the near post? Don't players do that?
How many wayward shots have we seen "foreign" play

I still think y'all are to judgemental just because he is home based. If na home based do Ekong error, i can imagine the uproar
I don't do that. I try to be objective. Meanwhile doesn't home-based refer to my home (Nigeria)? Being judgemental because of that would indicate an inferior mentality right?

Really? well he played deep but still made those turns he was known for at AFCON. As for that Rafiu shot, the guy is right bro. He is quick and managed to inject a level of pace in that wing. However, his football knowledge is lacking. That shot at the post was a very poor decision.

Thanks for noticing that. There are somethings SE players are not supposed to do as internationals. The way most of those homebase played is exactly the same way national teams of Tahiti, Bangladesh, fuji play. Just a flash. one good play, mess it up with below average decision.

The energy you're using to badmouth them should be channeled to the LMC

Anyway, opinions differs even if two people are looking at the same thing. So no issues. I don hear you

Really, i'm not mad at them or am I attacking you. Nope, don't get offended. Just furious that due to their corruption, they make these guys look bad. I do imagine if we raise our league to the South African standard, our clubs will be dominating in africa. We will be proud of our boys. NFF cant plant pepper and we the fans will be hoping to reap apples. It's same pepper we will reap. Most of these guys do have mental breakdown because they don't know what they are doing wrong during the game. This is what our local leagues supposed to be doing.
They did their best because that's what this country can offer them. LMC can't do anything. All stops at NFF. I do bombard them often on social media. Only me can't effect a change. if many people join the movement, we will see strong deep changes.
sometime last year, i watched one nigerian league, it was an eyesore. I was ashamed to let people around know that that was a live nigerian league. Pitch looked like a vomit. Jersey and kits were of low quality.
Quality of the game was very boring. Kicking the ball into the sky, Small thing, falling on the ground and rolling. can string simple passes because of the pitch. A lot of things that hurts me.

And regarding Ekong, i think this fifa window should be the last time he will play for nigeria. him and awaziem were at fault for the first goal. and he scored own goal. What a calamity. Again, what Desser did, he should not repeat it again. Thats a clear red card offence. similar stupid thing ekong did at last world cup against croatia. I can forgive simeon for first half. The played him same way rohr used to play him. second half, he improved.

I believe every player fielded today wanted to give the coach a very good first impression. Peseiro should believe what he saw today and start to build from there.

Takeaways:

Dessers is good. He should get more chances.

In that team today, only Aribo, Iwobi, Ajayi, Bassey, Awaziem, Dessers and Uzoho should be playing matches for Nigeria. The rest are not good enough to even get invited if we are looking to build a world beating team.

Simon's decision making is so abysmal, I don't know how a player that loses the ball with every two touches should be playing international football for Nigeria.

Ekong, business as usual.

Bassey is a baller on the ball. Off it there is a lot to be improved, especially with positioning. You can already see the TAA traits in his crossing and dribbling. Also, he is not as fast as he thinks he is, if he didn't learn that against Ghana he sure did today. Pace will not cover for poor positioning, and I hope he realizes that.

Moffi has a long long way to go. I was surprised not to see Awoniyi invited, he would have done much better.

The home based showed why they were home based. The Faisal guy (no. 7) tried though, although it is nigh impossible to play worse than what Bonke displayed today.

Peseiro has Rohr genes. Defend as long as you are not losing. We could have done much more if we started the first half the way we started the second half.

dessers just showed us he isn't a fluke and will definitely give us something to smile on if given the chance, bassy will always do well and he showed it playing under the kind of atmosphere familiar to him, ekong is always error prone and an own goal specialist not surprised thou, I think the home base player's should get more minutes in the next fixtures, good game from the boy's it a friendly coming after a long season wink hopefully pasiero will get it right and we move wink up super eagles cool dessers below smiley

It's all about making the right selections and having good coaching. Finidi should be the chan coach I am not comfortable with Salisu

The coach seems to like players who can play more than one position. I saw players switch positions a bunch of times in the game.

Haba, it is not like he ignored a runner to shoot that ball. There is absolutely nothing wrong with trying ur luck. Partey tried his luck and scored on a keeper who was probably our man of the match today.

. In as much as I agree with you on your write up, but i differ as regards the coach having similar gene like rohr. Yes first half was poor possibly because of the new formation which the mexicans are perfect at playing. I love the tactical switch of the coach in the second half. There was expression and even u could see the pattern. A typical rohr won't do that. At least this one understands switching tactics. If not for ekong mistake, I didn't see any thing the Mexican did in the second half.

Home based players have zero marking ability running around the pitch chasing balls, if they started the first half, the scoreline would definitely have been different grin

that is type of performance you can expect from a world class team. They improved from last season. Had they reached the final last season they would have also played with 3 of the EPL's top 4

That was a nice one from Calvin Ughelumba. I think we have a got a good young player in him despite his obvious shortcomings. However, we need to extend this grace to Osaze Urhogide too, he is another great up and coming bull of a centre back.

To those low grade nitwits who call themselves journalists who have always been of the opinion that foreign born players lack the zeal and commitment whenever they play for Nigeria: Just take a look at Dessers' performance today. Helping with the midfield, holding up play, excellent runs from deep, linking up with his wingers.

I don't want to call Iwobi a foreign born as he was born in Nigeria but he's still more or less an 'oyibo', yet he played his heart out. Iwobi played like he was on drugs cheesy.

Dedication has no boundaries. It's not by race neither is it by colour of skin. You could say it's the 'New Coach effect' but I highly doubt that.

I'm also speaking to those at the glass house : If you feel you or your 'special players' are more Nigerian than these boys because they look different and act different, you should really be ashamed of your racist condescending selves.

I don talk my own.

I was impressed with No 17 : Ishaq Rafiu if I'm not mistaken. At first I thought he was just another Chukwueze but I decided to cut him some slack. Hopefully he plays better in his next match. We need results, not just dribbles and pace.

He linked up well with Iwobi towards the end of the match and also made a lovely cross to the No 7 on the other side.

As for that Number 7; hmm I rest my case grin

He could've saved the first goal

Still not convinced

Our defence looked in total disarray at time

It's obvious we are lacking a commanding CB. Please Ekong should just go to Stanbic IBTC pension managers and collect his pension. HE is done
