ENUGU STATE POLICE COMMAND BULLETIN OF 30TH MAY, 2022

SUSPECTED NATURAL GAS-INDUCED FIRE OUTBREAK: ENUGU CP SAYS NO CAUSE FOR ALARM, AS FRANTIC EFFORTS ARE MADE TO QUENCH FIRE

Following the outbreak of fire, suspected to have been caused by underearth natural gas encountered during the drilling of a water borehole, at Caristas University, Amorji-Nike, Enugu, on 22/05/2022, the Commissioner of Police, Enugu State Command, CP Abubakar Lawal, fdc, has assured the general public, particularly citizens of the State and the University community that there is no cause for alarm, as frantic efforts are being made by relevant authorities to put out the fire.

2. Meanwhile, the location of the fire incident, which does not seem to pose any obvious threat to human life and property, has been cordoned-off and secured to avoid any untoward incident. This is pending when the fire will be completely quenched by the already contacted authorities with relevant expertise, including the Federal and Enugu State Fire Services, Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) and others within the Petroleum and Natural Gas Industry.

3. Further development shall be duly communicated to the general public.

ASP DANIEL NDUKWE, Anipr
Police Public Relations Officer,
Enugu State Command,

This reminds me of the Centralia Mine Fire, the Darvaza Crater, the fire in Chongqing and other such fires.

Still suspected? Not yet confirmed?

What are the professors in near by universities doing?

How many feets was dug before the incident happened?

If this is actually natural gas, then it is a welcome development.

We told them that Enugu is sitting on a huge pile of natural gas they thought we were joking.

Imagine a state where every inch of the ground beneath is covered with coal that state is certainly a huge pot of natural gas and oil.

But on a serious note I wouldn't want those to mined given how corrupt and reckless the center is they will turn our lovel 042 into Ijaw waste land.

Igbo land is blessed.

Despite the sabotages to make Southeast appear barren and useless, the almighty God keep revealing to the devils that truly Igbo people and Igbo land are in His hands.

Grant Igbos Biafra today and watch discovery and full exploration of different mineral resources, from crude oil to natural gas, coal, gold and steel.

They intentionally abandoned precious sites of these precious minerals in Southeast just to sabotage Igbos and make it look like Igbo land is barren. Tell me why only Southeast among all the 6 geopolitical zones in Nigeria have just 5 states and others have 6 states?

God will continue to shame all those hating Igbos unjustly.

Even as Igbos are joyfully helping to develop their own regions by investing massively in infrastructures and what have you, they still hate Igbos and instead mock Igbos by calling them "developers", how else does wickedness, envy and hatred manifest if not this way?

Biafra should come quickly.

Let's not waste our resources on strange people and our frenemies.

Update : to quench that fire, they will need a controlled explosion that will suffocate the fire then cap it.

Nigeria is so blessed with resources yet cursed with bad leaders and the most docile citizens on earth. The gas you see burning there is exactly what you need to fire electricity turbine to generate endless hours of electricity. In Imo State, it was recently discovered during an oil prospecting activities a huge gas deposit that dwarfs the entire crude oil deposit in Nigeria making Nigeria a gas nation as opposed to oil nation. But just to assembly turbines that will use these gas to produce electricity for hundreds of years coming is a big problem because we keep electing men like Buhari, Atiku, Tinubu who have nothing to offer.

That fire would never stop on its own!
They need to engage a land drilling rig to drill a directional well from another location and kill the initial well by way of pumping concrete to seal off and plug the well.

This was exactwhat was done after the deepwater horizon incident in the gulf of Mexico.

Any other thing is shear waste of time and natural resources

While leaders at the presidential level so far have nothing to offer, we should look inwards. If Imo state and Enugu state have good governors, they should have developed the gas sector in their various states.
