Failure is indeed an orphan. You're quick to defend any APC achievement here and inundate us with nonsense.

Now that we highlight their glaring failure you deny them like an illegitimate child. We all know about Community policing Captain Obvious. Why then are your principals not implementing it. Why can they not catch anybody? Why do we have your leaders speaking to the masses like they are powerless citizens and not the ones entrusted with securing life and property

This is what you should be explaining not this drivel you wrote here

Even on this same board, while I was advocating for community policing, ib.ime for example was against it as in his words, putting the police is the hands of Governors might even be disastrous.

There has been debate and ongoing debate in the National Assembly concerning this particular issue.

My party has dropped the ball on security and it’s only normal they are held accountable. There’s another election coming next year, you have a choice to vote them out and vote another candidates/party in. That’s how political process works.

It still doesn’t change the fact that Japa can never be the solution for a country with the kind of population we have.

Both of us knows this. cheesy

While I’ve respected and keep respecting your civil and reasonable way of engaging debates, but you’ll be telling yourselves lots of lies if you say your first quote on Nihilistjnr wasn’t engineered with little sprinkles of political views and selfishness.

No condemnation of what happened, no remorse, just direct USA comparison and usual “insider” cappings from politicians.

How so?

Me mentioning US is to bring attention to the fact that a country with a huge population having insecurity issues should be looking for solutions to solve these issues and not shout of Japa. It’s clear in my post.

I have no agenda against anybody here and I drop my opinion based on my belief, it’s not my fault if most of the people on this board wear rose tinted glasses and can’t see beyond politics during any discussions.

For a thread that claims to have a lot of intellectuals, it’s disheartening.

Ibime said something about being a bridge for the next generation but if we keep reasoning like this, we won't grasp the big picture and do what's necessary, at least try for posterity sake, else our generation will become worse than the elders we are criticizing now.

What Larride said is the truth. "Japa is not the solution to Nigeria's problems and can never be".

Nobody on this thread is against japa, but izzit the solution to this terrorism, corruption etc we are facing in this country?

The leaders have failed yes, the system is against the average young man yes, but if Nigeria will get it right, how is japa the solution?

It’s almost like whenever they see my post, their thinking process just hibernate.

Yes. Migration is not a new phenomenon. People will always seek greener pastures everywhere they can find it and like I said before, I am not against anyone japaing if they want to japa.

My stance is simple, as a country of over 200m people, Japa cannot be the solution because not everyone can japa, so the question remains, how do we take care and protect that haven’t japa or don’t even have the means to japa? That’s why I mentioned effective community policing. It’s in my first post to nihilist but someone everyone missed it.

The police in Owo is grossly inadequate and understaffed. The whole security architecture needs a complete overhaul to combat the new realities we are currently facing.

No one is happy with the constant killings and insecurities and for the sake of those that can’t japa, A solution must be found. It’s simple.

Baba, I think you are misconstruing the idea of japa to mean the solution to Nigeria's current problems. Let me assure you that many Nigerians in diaspora are as patriotic as they come. You are right, Japa can not solve Nigeria's problem and it shouldn't because it is more complex than that, however, discouraging people who feel differently about staying in Nigeria is not right because it is an individual decision that is personal based on personal circumstances. The idea of Japaing from Nigeria has never been because Naija was good enough for many, if anything it is the search for greener pastures for many, especially those from humble backgrounds.

As for resolving the spate of insecurity in Nigeria, while I like the community policing idea, especially if the officers are recruited from their local communities, I want you to know executing it effectively is even more complex and if not properly managed will cause more problems for a developing nation like Nigeria. I don't know how I feel about handing over the administration and control of the Police Force to overzealous Nigerian politicians who occupy governorship positions or other local positions when you consider our laws are not even strong enough to resist the potentials for abuse.

The last time I checked NIN was supposed to resolve some of these killings and help the police in tracking these elements, how has that gone thus far? It is now used mostly for business purposes and barely has any influence in resolving these killings that are occurring in droves across Nigeria. I have said this before, the first step to pushing Nigeria forward is to have a strong database of Nigerians, without it, we are pushing square pegs in round holes.

I’m not stopping anything. It is insensitive of you guys to keep shouting japa japa as if you are reading to give them the financial resources to japa.

Anyone that has any idea of Owo and where the church was located will know it’s most likely insiders that carried out the attack. Owo has one of the lowest number of police in the state with little or no DSS/Army presence. Those other security agencies only come to area when the Governor is around.

Now how many people will japa save in that town? Most probably less than 10% that’s even if they have the resources to japa but effective community policing will stop most of these attacks from criminals/terrorist.

You are well within your right to not give a fûck about the country but please stop this japa japa japa talk everytime a tragedy occurs. The highest number of people that japa annually from the country no even reach 50k out of a population of 200m.

Japa is not a solution.

I have said this before, the first step to pushing Nigeria forward is to have a strong database of Nigerians, without it, we are pushing square pegs in round holes.

Before I continue, I never discouraged anyone from Japaing. It’s impossible to do so sef. I only expressed that whenever tragedy happens, shouting japa japa is insensitive to a lot of people. A lot of people want to japa but they don’t have the financial resources to japa, a lot don’t even think about japa at all. Almost 50% of people in the country stays in the rural community and they are always 80% of the time the victim of these criminal attacks. How many of these people in the rural areas have the means to Japa? That’s why I said Japa is not the solution, it doesn’t mean people should not JAPA.

You raised an important point which ib.ime raised when we had this discussion. That’s why I said an “Effective” community policing will solve most of these insecurities because all the security architecture will be local. We can still have an agency will FBI which will be controlled by the Federal government but the security must be decentralizing to each community. While it is true that Governors might abuse this powers, it’s still safer than having alot of ungoverned space which criminals thrive in.

If you remembered we had a discussion about this database matter, I do agree with you that we need to have a centralized database instead of different agency collecting data without harmonizing it.

While the country problems are homogeneous, it can be tackled and solved one after the other.

This makes no sense.

Finding the killers of the Owo incident and Tinubu winning Presidential election are not mutually exclusive.

Infact not finding the killers of the incident will likely dent the chances of the party in the general election.

You think oppositions won’t use the insecurity in the land to campaign against the APC? (rightly so)

I want the criminals terrorizing the country to be caught and dealt with and Tinubu still remain my preferred candidate.

Everybody cannot JAPA, but then, it's a very necessary advice.

JAPA is not the solution, but it's a very good option.

The same underfunded Police that APC used to campaign in 2015 is still underfunded in 2023

If you like decentralize it, or even establish a station in every family, it would still be underfunded even from the states. Only the big boys would fund theirs

And besides, nobody was advising 200 million people to JAPA. They only told their friends here to do it.
