Good morning fellow nairalanders. I do not know if anyone could be of help or has had similar experience before.

I applied for international passport renewal late last month (May, 2022), the one I had expired in 2015 and there is need for mer to get a new one because of an opportunity that beckons

After I have applied for renewal and the processing has commenced, part of the requirement sent to me is presentation of my old international passport on the day of appointment for capturing (June 22, 2022). It was at that point I realized that I couldn't locate my old passport. I have searched everywhere and it is becoming obvious that it is lost.

Meanwhile, I have a scanned copy of my expired international passport, but official at the immigration office are insisting that I have to present booklet or else I will forfeit the money paid as I would not be capture for new one without presentation of the old one

I need help from anyone that has had similar experience or in position to assist please

I'm afraid you will have to forfeit the fee if you cannot produce the expired passport booklet.

There are 3 applications managed by the NIS and they have different requirements:
- New application
- Renewal application
- Loss/Replacement of booklet

Your application should fall under the third category.

here comes the problem,the date of my capturing is too far

they cancelled all the dates from this June to July then only allows from August 11 till don

please guys is there anyhow that I can capture before the appointed date or do I have to go to alausa and do the changes or even sort my self out with any high officer

It's possible. But since you're on DIY, you might not get the necessary help. I was at the office before 7am and captured 8:12pm. You don't want to add another process such hectic exercise

Hello bro.. can you please work on a thread of how your processes went off in the Alausa office for DIY... some of us will like to see a guide do we won't make mistakes with all documents and all .. and especially for those that can't go to open a file before capturing date..

Please, is it compulsory i take my local government letter of identification along for capturing. Can't i just use my NIN slip?

Yes you be captured, saved and uploaded on your official date.

My Passport processing experience at NIS HQ Sauka, Abuja was better than i expected but not good enough though!

So i paid for the passport online using my bank card in the month of April but to book appointment for vetting and capturing the earliest date i could find was Friday June 3rd, which i selected and then printed everything required.

Upon getting to the Passport processing facility few minutes to the time written on my appointment slip i was approached by gentle officers who helped me to arrange the documents, but they now told me that they could help in fast tracking the whole process which i gently declined and told them not to bother as im not in a hurry, they now directed me to the open hall with different officers manning their workstations, i went straight to the counters and approached one of the officers who then asked me of all needed documents which i brought out, the officer then gave me two forms to fill which i did and submitted everything to her as she placed them in a file and confirmed my names again, She then told me to sit and wait, She later called my attention and informed that my file has been submitted she then told me to be attentive as they call names!

So the waiting game began, those who sorted where called faster and attended to!
After about 4 hours i was called for capturing and a note was given to me with numbers and six weeks written on it, some hours later i checked on the https://track.immigration.gov.ng and everything looks good, Now waiting for production.
From my interaction with others, those who had issues where mostly from NIN wahala, just make sure your NIN detail tally with what you filled or else they go open bank for your head, i met someone who claimed to have spent over 500k because of NIN issues and time desperation.

You captured on June 3rd. I captured at ikoyi a month ago and it yet to even get to production.

More update from you bro. Mine was roughly 3weeks plus after capturing.

I don’t know how reliable the tracking is but I know someone mentioned that they received their passport and the tracking was still on the second stage or so.

the place you were filling the form for renewal, after the section it asks if passport is expired, page exhausted, replacement , damaged or lost… you are to choose lost passport.
Try and find the old passport ooo

renewal without stress is allowed from 6 months before passport expiry.. you are good to go as we are in June

there is nothing you can do. If you like pay to officer, you will still wait after they eat your money. Your best bet is to keep checking the appointmnt page, immediately a close date comes then u quickly pick it

Hello guys!! My capture date is June 7th(Next Tuesday) DIY Alausa. I read somewhere here about people going to the Immigration office to open file before the capture date. Please is that compulsory? I just paid online and have gathered all the required documents waiting for the capture date. I don’t have time from work to visit there before the capture date. Even to get my leave approved for that date of capture wasn’t easy.

It's not compulsory. I really don't know why people stress themselves to do that tho.

From what I can see here, you have issue with your NIN... read the NIN part “application details mismatch with NIN details” go and resolve it oo

if you have issues with NIN, you won’t be able to capture as you will fail verification and can not proceed
