Some how true. But a Hausa man cannot become a governor in maiduguri.

What makes you say this? Has there been an occurrence like this before?

I had sleepless nights over whether to buy BMW X5 or Mercedes Benz GLE. I successfully scaled through it but it can sink others. cry

Bruvv, I said yesterday I had a friend who went to Botswana as a doctor in mid 2000s, 10yrs ago he has now relocated to the US.
To get certain visas are easier in other African countries than in Nigeria
I heard of a Naija guy, got Ghana pali and he is now somwhere in Europe
2yrs of legal stay in a Southern African country you will realize that their US, Canada embassy is not warfare like in Walter Carrington

As I said earlier, success is loud, failure is silent.

Many at times, we hear of people that won millions via betting but what you rarely hear is how much that particular person has lost before. The person won't tell you that the money he won hasn't even covered the one's he lost.

For every successful person here who emigrated, there is an equal number of those who emigrated and failed. But you won't see such story's here. Because everyone wants to always paint a picture of success online.

I've not heard Ibime, afrodoc or dayo talk about any single challenge they might have encountered along the way, challenges which they might have successfully scaled through but which can sink others.

So please my brothers. You must be open-eyed. You must make a completely well researched decision before making that leap. Thank you.

Western economies are robust enough to absorb anyone with a good degree.

Failure will be if you didn't have funds to complete your studies, maybe you have inferiority complex or low self-belief that doesn't allow you to perform in interviews, or some people simply ran into mental health challenges and their parents recalled them home, or they were treated by the system here.

The above applies to education route japa which is the surest route.

Avoid countries with a parallel economy like Italy, Spain, Greece, Portugal, Cyprus, Malta, basically any Mediterranean country. Those guys will take Africans and pay them below minimum wage and the authorities don't care. Stick to UK, USA, Canada, Aussie, New Zealand, Nordic countries, Ireland, maybe Germany and France. If you study in an EU country like Czech and co, immediately find your way to Western Europe. All Japa are not equal.

Of course, I agree with you.

But I didn't see where afrodoc agreed to that oh

I was the one that said there are many ways including Libya way.

For professionals with good qualifications, of course follow the legal route.

But for the rural, almajiri, or rugged type niggas with no qualifications, omo its better to be a pauper in Europe than to be a pauper in Nigeria.

The thing about abroad the anti-Js don't seem to get is that, there is always hope for something better here.

What's the point of living in Nigeria with no prospects, when it's nicer to live in Europe as a cleaner. Security guard, etc, and then you can put down roots for your future generations?

One of my chiefs left for Canny at the end of May. E no even tell anybody. Guyman take normal casual leave, next thing I see DM for Twitter with person wey dey shine teeth for Pearson Airport.
He is going to have to hustle his way into the system, as African medical degrees aren't accepted there, but whenever he talks with me he never fails To be bubbly despite the long road ahead. Why? Because of the system that works, and how his kids will be in it.

This is a family man who's at least 10 years older than I am. And you're telling me, a young single doctor to sit here and do what?

I agree not everyone can leave, but if you have the will and/or means, alaye as you're queuing for PVC, register for IELTS.

What do you say to this man who japa'd at all cost?

I dont think its right for them not to get paid

But if you are talking about the job? No one is above any job as long as you have bills to pay. There are people cleaning toilets in every country even in their fatherland

If thats where life put you at that moment, Then do it and plan to move to something bigger

You cant be new in a country and expect them to make you Managing director. Many successful immigrants did dirty jobs when they first got here

When I got here, students were not allowed to work, During one of the holidays one of my friends introduced me to a factory/warehouse job because most of the regular workers went for Thanksgiving. I did that job with excitement because they were paying us a time and half.

I’m sure he didn’t go through study route as well
Lastly, Nigerians abroad even contribute more than majority back home.
I was surprised when I discovered my previous Nigerian Landlord built this school in his community where most of the kids go for free.
This dude came here with nothing and his story changed
Works for the state government in Australia and keeps climbing up the ladder.

Most of the younger Nigerians-Americans who grew up here, have Masters/PhD degrees and are enjoying every benefit here the parents sacrificed by doing all these cleaning jobs

I have an older colleague, His dad came to US in the 70s for Theology school and was to start a church here where he can get all his family a legal stay. After 2yrs the man left America in 1984 under the guise that he cannot be doing dirty man job as a big man. He went to Nigeria and became one Anglican church leader. but left his eldest son who was 14yrs behind with family friends and took the other 4 younger ones back to Naija

The 14yr old is now a big man in one company here, but the other ones in Naija one just got a visa to UK 3yrs ago, the other 3 have not been able to get visas and are stuck in their mid 40s. The father sef economy don change na that son wey dey Yankee dey build house, sed car to them in Nigeria

What do you say to this man who japa'd at all cost?

To apply wisdom in every decision in life. I am a doctor and when i left Nigeria i went to first one country and then another that were known for the relative ease of assimilation of doctors into the system. I applied wisdom and left the country with a plan. I didn't allow a 17yr old living abroad to tell me to stay back and help Nigeria.

When people say japa they are not saying that you should wake up tomorrow and start looking for one perilous route to Afghanistan. You assess your education, work experience/skills, support system and plan both the timing and destination accordingly. A smart guy is already asking ib.ime questions about how to get into the UK.

What they are saying is that to improve your chances of having a good quality of life it might be a good idea to start planning your exit from Nigeria. For instance, rather than changing that your 2010 Camry to a newer model why not use that money to execute your Japa moves. Or minimize your spending in other ways for a year or two, see what you can save up.

The message is not for everybody. If you are educated, hard working, ambitious, amenable to a law-abiding lifestyle you can listen. If you are none of those things you can skip to the next message.

Good points, nobody is against people emigrating, I've said it a million times, but going back a few pages, you see lots of comments emphasizing to LEAVE AT ALL COSTS

Those who will be influenced by such hyperboles are the ones I'm addressing. Someone said even if it's by road or the Libyan way, all way na way. That doesn't sound like someone who wants to sit down and plan better. Those are the targets of this message.

I say again, most of you are highlighting the positives, none of you are warning about potential dangers too. Dangers that make promising girls fall into hands of human traffickers. Or emigrants who were somehow failed by those systems there.

You are sharing anecdotes of successful people you know. Are you saying you don't know any anecdotes of people who fell hard after they tried.
Haven't you heard of people deported, people who spent all their live savings there and fell flat on their face?

Every message must be balanced. Give a balanced view, don't fill people with the euphoria of the positives without highlighting the negatives.
