Landmack:
REQUEST FOR PROPOSAL FOR WASTE COLLECTION CONTRACTORS IN ANAMBRA STATE
Government of Anambra state hereby invites proposals from experienced waste contractors in the state.
This invitation is in line with Governor Soludo's vision of making Anambra a liveable and prosperous homeland, gearing towards putting extensive plan in place for the implementation of a house-to-house collection of waste products, and robust monitoring system for all waste collection and disposal processes.
The request is for proposals for solid waste collection/disposal, recyclable materials, collections and processing.
One contractor is required in each of the constituencies in the state, except Idemmili North which requires two contractors.
Documents to be submitted are to show the service rates per month quoted for each of the indicated zones.
The tentative Request for Proposal schedule are as follows:
1. Deadline for Request For Proposal submission to state; 8th June, 2022
2. Public hearing on contract documents; 10th June, 2022
3. Consideration of contract award letter; 13th June, 2022
Responses to this Request for Proposal must be received on or before 10:00 am, June 8th, 2022, at the Ministry of Environment, Attention: Office of the Deputy Governor and Ministry of Local Government. Three hard copies should be delivered to the physical location.
Government in conjunction with the management committee of Anambra State Waste Managent Agency, ASWAMA, provide contractors access to all dumpsites, provide waste bins for managing daily house-to-house collection of waste, determine contractor service fees and other fees related to waste collection levies, as well as monitor activities of contractors.
The contractor shall be responsible for waste collection and evacuation, assist the state in the distribution of payment demand notices in their designated locations and engage road sweepers.
Requirements for the proposals include:
1. Letter of transmittal briefly outlining the contractor's understanding of the work and general information regarding the company and its staff that will be engaged
2. Notarized statement of contractor qualification containing certificate of incorporation, company's organogram, background and experience of the management company, summary of the company's history including years in the business, experience of delivering similar project, list of major equipment available to execute the project, list of work awarded to company that was not completed or any contracts that were in default, bank reference and two years financial statement, statement signed and dated by the company and a notary of the public recognized in the state.
Criteria for selecting waste evacuators contractors are as follows:
1. Basic waste collection and evacuation equipment including trucks, pail loader, compactors, excavators, swing-arm, etc
2. At least three months working capital
3. At least three years of waste collection and evacuation experience.
Proposals submitted late will not be evaluated. Proposals will be opened, read out loud and distributed to the committee for review and subsequent recommendation, while formal action by committee's members is anticipated to occur at its June, 10th, 2022 special meeting.
Successful contractors will be engaged as Service Level Providers in line with a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to be drawn between selected/successful applicants and the State government.
Note that the state government reserves the right to accept or reject any proposal or waive defects or irregularities in any proposal. Any alteration, erasure or interlineations of the contract documents renders the proposal irregular and will be subject to the committee's decision or outright rejection.
Sir Paul Nwosu
Anambra State Commissioner for Information

The news I have been expecting for a long time. I also love the time line from bid to award of contracts. I hope the contractors would mobilise and start refuse evacuation immediately.

Well done Prof. Charles Soludo.

It seems days of awarding contracts to incompetent and dubious contractors are over,,from our roads down to waste...

ndi Anambra we move!

MOD:
Henceforth there must be background checks on every intending contractors in d state. Days of collecting contracts and abandoning or doing a very bad job is over. Track records of intending contractors must be surly checked.

Only a foolish contractor from the state will collect a road contract and do a mediocre job and will still ply same bad road tomorrow...probably chanting ’Buhari is evil...see our roads, see our region’

Also, Soludo's massive employment of teachers, just 2 months into office is a clear sign that he is there to work and not loot. The money to be paid the new teachers would have been squandered on other frivolity while the education system suffers.

It also shows he is serious about eduction which is one of his campaign promises. I wish him well.

Governor Soludo would not be distracted from delivering good governance to the good people of Anambra state.

It wouldn't be a good thing if Lagos had made these teaching jobs for their indigenes only. The anambra teaching Jobs should be for everyone as far as you are living in Anambra state.

Go and tackle ur various south east governors to start living up to expectation. The incompetencies of most south east govs is what has given rise to insecurity issues in the region.

When last did ur governor release state vacancies for her pple? Pls go and tackle them and stop jostling for few positions meant for ndi Anambra. We won’t sit and watch our Anambra graduates roam the streets in joblessness thereby being lured into crime and other vices by miscreants.
We won’t sit and watch civil service jobs meant for Anambra youths being taken by pple who can’t hold their various governors accountable but would want to come and dictate to the ANSG how to carry out governance in their favour. Pls sit this out!

It seems you don't understand what I'm saying. I'm just saying that government jobs FOR EVERY STATE shouldn't be for only indigenes of a state, it should be for everybody. Go around the southwest states (I'm sure of these states, can't say for others), you would see igbo people holding government jobs in the state. If these southwest governors decided that the jobs would only be for their indigenes, many igbos would be without a job. I have so many igbo friends and even family members that are employed in the civil service in these states, and they even hold big positions there.

Another thing you should understand is that if you want a state like anambra to be much more better than it is now, it must be able to accommodate everyone irrespective of your state or tribe or religion. As far as you are up to the task, you should be employed. Jobs should never be based on states but how well you can deliver.

Anyways, I've said mine. You can always counter it. We can as well agree to disagree. Thanks.

Chikeluba25:
Anambra’s journey to officially becoming an oil-producing state began in 2013 when Orient Petroleum Company, a private firm enterred into partnership with the state government, and started producing oil in the Aguleri basin. But it is the Obiano administration which gave it impetus by designating Oil and Gas as his fourth Pillar of economic development.

Flowing from the governor's vision to make Anambra State the first choice investment destination and a hub for economic and commercial activities and the mission to create a socially stable business friendly environment where indigenes and non indigenes alike can engage in wealth creating opportunities. The state's passage of the Oil and Gas Development Agency bill and the setting up of Oil and Gas Advisory Board facilitated policy formulation for the sector and steadfast pursuit/ resolution of boundary issues, sustained negotiations with oil prospecting firms and relevant agencies of government as well as security of personnel.

In practical terms, Governor Obiano committed resources to stop the practice of accessing some oil prospecting facilities and wells in Anambra through neighboring states with the construction of the 280 metres Aguleri Otu bridge across Omambala river and the Umueje bridge. At Ogbaru Local Government Area years of illegal operations by Sterling Oil

Exploration and Energy Producing Company of India in Ogwuaniocha and Ogwuikpele were checkmated while at the Anambra East Local Government Area end, claims by Kogi State over some of oil wells are now subject to a fifty-fifty sharing formula, pending final resolution of the boundary claims.

Anambra's journey to oil bearing status is by no means easy, but the tough battle was surmounted thanks to Governor Obiano's wealth of experience in the sector, his doggedness, and deployment of competent hands on the task, the State is now officially an Oil Producing State. Consequently, in the books of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) and Revenue Mobilization Allocation and Fiscal Commission, the state is entitled to 13% of the sale of petroleum resources from 11 oil wells in its territory, namely, Nzam-1, Alo-1, Ameshi-1, 2, and 3, and Enyie-1, 2 , 3 and 4.

There is no gainsaying the positive impact of the new status on the revenue profile of the state as well as the anticipated boost on infrastructural development programme of the government in the years ahead.

Interestingly, the Pillar One: Economic Transformation agenda articulated in The People's Manifesto by the Governor-elect of Anambra State, Prof Chukwuma Soludo keys-in perfectly into the next phase of consolidation on the achievements of the four pillars of economic development of the Obiano administration. According to the Governor-elect:

"We aim to transform Anambra State from a dorminantly informal commercial state to a Formal, Productive and Competitive Economy underpinned by rapid industrialization, Agriculture, Commerce, Entertainment/Leisure, and The Creative Economy, and Technology and Innovation, Solid Minerals and Oil and Gas."

All told, the building blocks of development for a safe and secure Anambra State laid under Obiano's blueprint for economic development
where everyone has opportunity to create wealth

Pictures below

Love the greenery and unspoilt vegetation surrounding those oil wells!

Anyone have the raw figures of what Anambra is now receiving from its 13% derivation payments? I would suggest the money is set aside for the immediate host communities (say 20% for this) and also for part-funding of specific projects in the state like power stations, education development, health and tourism (leisure parks, etc).

I'm still yet to hear from the state gov't how diasporans and others can be part of the investment plans Soludo has for the state.

Soludo Flags-Off Distribution Of 3.8 million Free Of Cost Mosquito-treated Nets

By Ejike Abana (ABS Government House Correspondent)

Anambra State Government has flagged-off the distribution of three-point-eight million insecticide treated nets to Ndi Anambra.

Governor Soludo performed the flag-off ceremony of nets which will be distributed free of cost at the Dr. Alex Ekwueme Square, Awka.

The distribution is carried out in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Health and Malaria Consortium.

The exercise will be door to door after the flag-off.

Professor Soludo, in his remarks appealed to Anambra residents not to take the exercise for granted

Governor Soludo who appreciated the magnanimous funding from the partners, said that it is a way to start the campaign and sensitisation program as a fore-runner to the distribution.

Governor Soludo said that it is part of the efforts to ensure healthy living.

Governor Soludo who stated that the lifespan of the net is about three years, revealed that the vaccination against malaria is being rolled out in the journey to zero malaria in Anambra state.

As a wake up call for everybody to get involved in the campaign, he called on women, Traditional Rulers, and Presidents General who he said will play a major role in mobilising the communities in the distribution process to minimize malaria, saying that there are several households who may not need the nets, but directed that households that need them should receive more than a net when the distribution commences.

He appealed to the distribution team to ensure equitable distribution of the mosquito nets.

Wife of the Governor, Mrs Nonye Soludo who was decorated as Net Ambassador, expressed delight in the honour and that households will be registered and given nets and asked everyone to make themselves available, by providing the relevant information for the distribution exercise which will commence from 2 - 17 August, 2022.

While enumerating some of the achievements by the present administration, the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Afam Obidike rehearsed that the distribution exercise is a fight for zero tolerance against malaria and pointed out that studies show that the use of nets is low in the state.

Dr Obidike explained that choosing such a time is informed by the fact that malaria increases during rainy season and stressed that Governor Soludo is determined to provide quality healthcare to Ndi Anambra.

While pleading with the government and people of the state to receive and make use of the nets, the West and Central Africa Programme Director of the Malaria Consortium, Dr. Kolawole Maxwell spoke on the public health impact of the malaria burden, saying that if the menace is eliminated, the economic benefits are immeasurable.

He stated that Nigeria is committed to elimination of malaria by 2025, just like other countries have done.

Owo terror attack: Ohanaeze begins preparations for burial
By Osagie Otabor, Akure On Jun 8, 2022

The Ohaneze Ndigbo in Owo local government area has begun preparations for the purpose of taking corpses of its members who were killed in last Sunday’s terror to the Southeast for burial.

Four gunmen stormed the St Francis Catholic Church and killed many people while over 50 are receiving treatment for gunshot injuries.

The gunmen also threw dynamites into the church out of which two exploded inside the church.

Chairman of Ohaneze in Owo local government, Anayo Okorie, said they have commenced meetings to discuss on how to convey the bodies to their various states of the Southeast region.

“We are here to discuss the way forward for those that died. We cannot give you the actual figures of the Igbos that died because they were many.

“We are planning on how to take the bodies back home. It affected everybody that is why you see shops are still not open.”

Mr. Udo Blessing said the meetings would soon reach a conclusion on burial arrangements for the Igbos.

Business activities were still paralysed in parts of Owo community especially at the Owaluwa Street where the church is located.

A resident in the street Eugene said the shops were still closed because of the number of victims.

“Many of the shop owners are mourning ot taking care of love ones at the hospital. I was at home when the attack occured. I just hide myself somewhere.”

Don't be surprised major causality os of the igbos tribe. We too love church and religion anywhere we're. I hate this set of igbo's. Keep praying and shouting Jesus or God while you keep dying as well. If you had mind your business or stay at home it might b another thing separate. Inside the so called church, your God sit down dey watch

Go and rest this cowardly IPOB instigator!
Didn't you read how their own yoruba unknown gunmen went and took revenge on those killing Yorubas? Can IPOB do that for Igbos that were killed? Hell NO!

Silly noisemakers! All you know is to somehow find how to blame Igbo people, or manipulate them to take their money. You guys are truly bloody scammers!

Alaba int market traders have embarked on a ‘get your PVC’ holiday.
Yesterday Enugu youths cued up to get their PVCs
Same happened too at Owerri.

But Simon Ekpa the chief terrorist of ndigbo is busy threatening on how ndigbo won’t cast any vote come 2023.

I said all what Ipob has successfully done is to punish, kill, scam, intimidate ndigbo to the extent we have lost the remaining relevance we had especially at the national level.

Tinubu visited states for his presidential talks and left out southeast states. And I think more surprises will be coming for d region. Which is to tell us that our own way of politicking is clouded with bitterness and hatred. Those ediotic politicians as well as even d sane politicians no longer regard the region because of Ipob and their brainwashing of ndigbo.

Sleepy Igbo eligible voters are finally out there in d sun and under d rain fighting to collect their PVCs and all what Simon Ekpa the demonic saboteur of ndigbo could say was there will be no election in igboland.
My pple if that happens, that will be another eight years of super marginalisation of the region. Spread this message to wake our sleepy/brainwashed bros and sisters to go fight for their PVCs. It’s becoming obvious that we are losing politically and economically. Even as business minded pple, If u don’t get involved in electoral activities,a rogue will be installed who will dish out unfavourable business policies...and then finally u will shut down that ur business and hunger will strangle you.

Events of yesterdays has shown us that if u don’t work for it,nobody will freely/willingly dash it to u.
