Anambra State Government Destroys Kidnappers' Hideout In Oba, Idemili South Council Area By Ejike Abana (ABS Government House Correspondent) Anambra State Government has destroyed a building known to house and serve as hideout for notorious kidnappers. Armed with an excavator, Anambra State Joint Security Task Force conducted the demolition exercise which lasted for more than five hours at the hideout, an old downstair building at Oba, Idemmili South Council Area. Though the hideout was raided recently, exhibits recovered at the crime scene include locally made pistol, shrine, charms, concoctions, indian hemp, among other incrementing materials, while some arrests also made. Recall that according to report, a gang of kidnappers were traced to the hideout by the Police, following an attack and subsequent kidnapp of two persons at Oko, Orumba North Local Government Area, and another two persons in Ekwulobia, Aguata Local Government Area. The gunmen had entered Oko through Nanka for a kidnap operation and almost succeeded but for the prompt intervention of the police special force acting on a tip- off which engaged them in gunfire. One of them was killed, but others escaped with various degree of injuries. The gunman killed at Oko was identified as a former vigilante who was part of a four man gang who have been involved in high profile killings and kidnapping around the area. However, the state police command while reacting through the spokesperson, DSP Toochukwu Ikenga confirmed the report, but was unable to account for the killing of the vigilante member who later joined the criminal gang. DSP Ikenga explained that the command received distress call about the kidnap of two persons at Oko, and while on their trail, they learnt that the gang had kidnapped two more persons at Ekwulobia, and quickly pursued them and were able to track them down. He said that Police operatives working with the vigilante stormed the location, on Sunday, rescued the four victims and arrested one Emeka who was suspected of complicity. When interrogated, he confessed to the crime and led detectives to the hideout of his gang in Oba, Idemili South, where a shootout ensued. According to Mr. Ikenga, the gang leader, one Chinedu Ajogu, AKA Sampolo was gunned down and five other persons including their native doctor was arrested for interrogation. Later at the Government House, Awka, Governor Chukwuma Soludo who commented on the demolition exercise and the security situation in the state, said the move would serve as a deterrent to other criminals. The Governor explained that it has been established that they used the building as a den for criminal activities, stressing that the government policy does not allow any criminality to reign in the state. He warned that henceforth, in line with the law, criminals will have no place in any part of Anambra state, according to the Government's determination to ensure that the state is safe for everyone. The Governor who drummed the efforts of the state government in its bid to keep the state safe for the people, applauded the cooperation by some people in the state in terms of volunteering information, adding that every stranger is suspicious until his or her job is confirmed to be legitimate. According to the Governor who emphasized that any building being used for such purpose will be brought down and confiscated by government, seeing this shows that people's lives are in danger if they don't report strangers and criminals operating in communities, cautioning against any form of conspiracy of silence. 9 Likes

Anambra needs to plan towards building high-rise cbd along the river Niger. As trading City and industrial state. Anambra needs High rise to beautify its skyline. I remember Soludo mentioned building something like that along the Niger, my wish is that he sets the ball rolling before he lives office. The problem WITH Anambra business men and most Igbo businessmen is that they always want to take their companies or big project to their village. That way development will come slowly. Imagin Dr. Maduka building his medical research center Along the River Niger, won't it motive at others who have substandard building to upgrade? I know our Igbo people, when they see something better than theirs, they will try to catch up. That is why I am not a fan of building in rural area while ignoring the city. I swish the bank of River Niger will have so thing like this on this pics. 5 Likes

Your abia state is the worst and most backward state in Nigeria but you think you can advice a progressive state like Anambra or even any other SE state. Now Ikpeazu has wasted almost 8yrs and now secured ticket to the Senate but you abia miscreants are not worried that Aba has remained a dilapidated filthy town littered with bad roads and umuahia has remained a village. You people have refused to elect decent leader since 1999, all you people have contributed to SE is Ipob terrorism that has completely destroyed your backward shithole abia state. Anambra is progressing, and other SE states but your abia state has continued to remain backward useless and worthless. Spend some time to kick your useless leaders in abia to sit up and work for you people. Abia has remained a big embarrasment to the igbos. [s] NwaforIgbo:[/s] 5 Likes |

Earlier today, I received a delegation of the Executives of our great Party -- the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) -- from Abia State at the Anambra State Governor's lodge, Amawbia. The leader of the delegation and candidate of our party in the upcoming 2023 gubernatorial election, Prof. Gregory Ibeh, came bearing good tidings from "God's own State". Prof. Greg's personsal contributions to the development of Society is deserving of commendation. I am certain Abia desperately needs a Greg Ibeh. We shall be in Abia to lead the charge when the time comes. CC. Soludo, CFR. 2 Likes

Group Demands Mainstreaming of Staff of Demonstration Schools In Colleges of Education Princess-Ekwi Ajide (ABS Abuja Bureau Chief) The President of Senior Staff Union in Colleges of Education, Nigeria SSUCOEN, Mr. Danladi Msheliza, has stressed the importance of mainstreaming staff of demonstration schools in Colleges of Education (COE) and not to be seen as staff of private entities. Msheliza, made the plea when the Union visited the Minister of Education, Mallam Adamu Adamu in Abuja. According to him, it is a requirement for graduating students of primary Education Studies (PES) and Early Childhood Care Education (ECCE). The President of the Union, who lamented that the ministry gives pre-eminence to universities and polytechnics at their expense, implored the minister to also give priority to issues concerning colleges of education especially as it relates to the non-payment of arrears of minimum wages of its staff. He brought to the attention of the Minister, a document which emanated from his office in response to their letter requesting that demonstration schools should not be seen as private entities. Msheliza, noted, that when salaries and wages commission wrote the Minister's office for clarification on the status of possession of schools in colleges of education and the need to be mainstreamed, the response to them signed by the permanent secretary stated that the ministry had carefully examined their document and that the 2021 edition of the NCE on minimum standards for Early Child Care and Primary Education Studies should be established in demonstration schools. He, however, noted that there was no 2021 edition of the minimum standards but only had 2020 edition saying the minimum standards had clearly stated that demonstration schools shall be established within the vicinity of colleges. The president, while speaking on revitalisation fund of the colleges, called on the minister to resume the stalled renegotiation of the 2010 FGN/SSUCOEN Agreement adding that there is need to release the approved revitalisation fund to colleges arising from the NEED Assessment exercise. In his response, the Minister of Education, Mallam Adamu, said the ministry would constitute a committee to look at the letter and amend necessary areas especially as regards the demonstration schools of colleges of education. The Minister also promised to look into all gray areas brought before him by the Union and attend to them appropriately. |

Landmack: Quite a pleasure to see that the new governor has taken the fight to the criminals holding Anambra hostage. Who escalated criminal activities to intimidate and overwhelm the new governor Soludo. Their strategy has totally backfired. I am so happy that instead of being intimidated by criminals, Soludo rose to the challenge and took the fight to their doorsteps. He must not relent in the current momentum if he hopes to win this war. Else they will regroup and stage an even more devastating comeback. The confiscation of lands and demolition of the buildings and other infrastructure used by criminals and kidnappers to terrorize the state must continue to be implemented with utmost alacrity. Until the massage that crime does not pay will be heard loud and clear by the criminals. This is a very good start by Soludo to flush these criminals out and regain control of the state. 4 Likes |
