A girl (khg) is seating, looking awkward, she's being filmed and is clearly not used to it, she asks Erm where do I look, the person behind the camera directs her. She smiles and says my name is oh man bok, I attend huimang elementary school and I'm in the 6th grade.

We see a man (pcm) also being filmed separately (they are filming a documentary called happy house) he says I'm oh man bok's dad, oh dal seong, I own a Chinese restaurant, I'm 46. The camera moves to a woman (rmr) seated next to him. She says I'm man bok's mom nam mi sun, I'm 42. Camera moves to a girl (nhr) she's obviously excited to be on camera, she says I'm man bok's unni, oh sun bok, I'm 21 and preparing to get employed. Camera moves to a boy who's peeling an orange, he looks uninterested in the interview, he says I'm oh Dae bok, 8th grade in high school. The camera captures them together and man bok says these are the 5 members of my family. Dad tries to tell them to bow to the audience and accidentally says "salute!" they all look at each other and start laughing.

Manbok is at an optician's, she uses glasses and is undergoing some tests. She seems to be a regular patient cos she and the doctor are really friendly to the point that she knows what he'll say before he says it. She ends her session and tells him she won't be coming for a while, he wonders why. We hear her voiceover say I've got something to do.

She walks home practicing a song.

She gets to her parents restaurant and starts helping to receive orders. Basically they are a happy family. They have a foreigner named mark who works as a delivery guy for their restaurant. Mom asks Mark to stop at star agency on the way to collect back their plates. Dad tells him to be careful on the bike and not to speed. As he's about to leave, he receives a phone call and says "what?" In shock. Manbok and her parents turn to watch as he continues the call, yes.. Yes.. Lee hye young... That's my wife.. OK I'll be there... He looks at dad to ask for permission, dad signals that he can go. He ends the call and they ask him if his wife has been found, he says yes someone says they saw her in Seoul, that must be Leo's mom. Dad and mom tell him to go quickly and not give up (lol in very broken English). Mark tells Manbok to please look after Leo for him. He leaves, mom sighs and says I really hope it's her this time. Mom tells dad to do the deliveries. She notices that man bok's shoe lace has loosened, she ties it for her, tells her to go home and drink the vegetable juice she made for her, pick Leo, tell sunbok to hang the laundry and call her if daebok is being silly instead of going to the academy for his after school lessons.

At home daebok is peeling tangerine(me:what's his obsession with fruits lol). Manbok comes in sighs and asks are you peeling tangerines this time? What about running with a cart? Daebok raises the peel and says look, isn't it so long? I'll make the Guinness book of records soon. Manbok says if you keep this up I'll call mom. He says don't! Turns around and says don't you dare. Lol as he turns around the long peel breaks in half. He starts rolling on the floor shouting I don't believe this, it was so close, what a shame! Manbok shakes her head and says what will you be when you grow up? She walks towards sunbok's room, sunbok is practicing for a job interview, she wants to be an announcer at a shopping mall(me: lol no offense but Aigoo how is your life's ambition being an announcer in a shopping mall) she's trying to recite the lines she memorized but she can't remember everything, Manbok helps her complete the lines, sunbok smiles and says God is really fair, he gave you the brains and gave me the looks. She starts to fix her hair in the mirror. Manbok asks why are you home early? I thought work was busy. Sunbok says my shopping mall interview is tomorrow, I have to rehearse. Manbok says yes please, succeed this time. By the way mom says you should hang the laundry.

Mom is at the shop watching driving lesson videos, a call comes in, it's a customer complaining that they haven't gotten their order. Mom apologizes and says it'll soon get there. She ends the call and wonders why dad hasn't reached. Their restaurant's name is manbokseong.

We see dad at a hospital waiting to see a doctor(me : huhn? I hope all is well)

Manbok and her friend are at a playground. Friend asks what's the name of the program? Manbok says happy house, there will be a few more adoptive families like mine (me: holup! She's adopted?) friend says it airs on the 15th right, by the way what's the interview you're doing these days? Manbok says I think they'll use it in the show. Friend says I hear there's even a talent show, what are you going to do? We see man bok filming the documentary, she says sing, I'm going to sing a song called letter, I want a certain person to listen to the song, that's why I really want to sing it. By the way, you can't tell my family. Back at the playground, man bok and her friend are watching a small boy. Friend asks is Leo still not speaking, man bok nods yes. Friend asks are you sure he isn't dumb? Man bok says once in a while he speaks to Mark, the other day he asked why his mom wasn't coming? Friend asks did you also not speak when you first came? We see dad filming his documentary, he says no man bok wasn't like that. We adopted her when she was 7, her mom passed away from cancer. Mom says she has lived 7 years with us now. She lived in chuncheon until she was 3, then her parents split up and she and her mom moved in to the house opposite ours. Back then and even now manbok always loved jajangmyeon especially the one we make. Manbok and her mom used to come in 2-3 times a week. That's why from the first day we adopted her, we just became a family.

Manbok is reading a story to Leo in her room. She asks Leo if he'd like to see something interesting and he nods yes. She brings out a box from underneath her bed, it's full of items from her childhood. She shows him her baby pictures and says this is me when I was living at chuncheon. She sees a picture of her mom and her as a baby and she gets sad. She notices that there's a picture stuck to the picture of her mom, she separates them and it's a picture of a man playing a guitar. His back is turned to the camera so we can't see his face. On the picture is written "at gongjicheon. love - Jun". She says what's this? I haven't seen it before. Gongjicheon? Mom calls her name from the living room and man bok quickly covers the box and pushes it under the bed. The picture of her and her mom accidentally falls from her hand. Mom enters and asks manbok what she's doing that she couldn't hear her name being called? Manbok acts guilty and shocked and says you startled me. Mom says I need you to make a delivery for me, dad is still not back from his delivery. Manbok says OK but please knock from now on, don't barge in and shock me. She leaves. Mom wonders if she's acting out due to puberty, as she's about to take Leo out of the room, she notices the picture on the floor, she picks it up sadly.

Manbok takes the delivery to a building with "star agency" written at the top. The building is pretty much run down and it seems like a bankrupt agency. The inside of the building is as terrible as the outside. We hear the voice of a man playing a guitar and trying to compose a rock song, both his voice and his guitar are off key. Manbok picks up their plates, goes to the room where the man is and says ahjussi I've picked our plates. The man says how's your sister? Manbok sighs and says ahjussi, you called her up drunk the other night didn't you? The man stammers "how did you know?" and laughs nervously. She continues "last time you waited for her in front of her workplace", how is it that you manage to do the things she hates once every week? The guy laughs nervously again and says I know right manbok, I mean sister in law, help me out. I have no idea what sunbok likes. What kind of guys does she like? Manbok says handsome guys lol the man instantly looks dejected and drops his guitar. Manbok is about to leave when his phone rings, he answers really excited and screams, manbok turns in surprise. He ends the call and says sister in law, I'm going to be on TV. You know the program immortal singers? I'm going to be on that show. Manbok is happy for him and says wow, are you serious. The man says tell your sister to wait a little, I han Jun I'm going to be successful. Also I'd like to order some more food. Manbok sighs again(lol)
The whole family is having lunch with Mark and Leo and it's pretty obvious sunbok has a one sided crush on Mark, lol man bok is the only one that notices. Dad asks when does the program air? Mom says how many times will I tell you, the 15th. Dad says oh it's a day before man bok's graduation from elementary school, what do you want as a graduation gift? Daebok says I want nunchucks! Lol mom hits his head with a spoon. Manbok smiles and says she doesn't need a gift. Mom says tell us whatever you want as long as it's not too expensive, sunbok says come on mom, Manbok tell me what you want, I'll buy it for you. Daebok says I want nunchucks, this time dad hits him with his spoon and tells Manbok you have a lot of time so think well, mom says as long as it's not expensive lol. Dad asks Mark the outcome of his journey and mark says the person wasn't Leo's mom. Dad says she's so cold-hearted, how could she desert such a young boy and not even call once?

LOL mom goes to get her driver's license but fails her driving test. We see dad seriously studying for something while cooking in his restaurant (me: is he studying to go to medical school cos what was that random secret doctor visit?). We see sunbok at her workplace lol she's horrible at her job. We see daebok trying to set a world record of the longest time he can stay locked in a suitcase, of course he fails. Manbok is standing by a bridge practicing her song.

She runs home and this time daebok is trying to set a record for stacking plastic cups, as Manbok runs in she accidentally hits his cups and they fall down lol he starts to throw a tantrum but Manbok doesn't pay attention to him she's focused on checking the clock wondering what time it is. She turns on the TV as immortal singers start, she calls mom and dad to come watch hanjun, dad says wow who would believe he's an actual singer, he even seems handsome now. Mom agrees and says they'll get his autograph and hang in their restaurant. Daebok is still struggling with his cups and they all tell him to keep quiet. Hanjun starts singing the same song Manbok has been rehearsing and lol he's done his hair and makeup and shaved his beard to look presentable for TV and he actually looks good and his voice is really nice. Everyone compliments him but Manbok just looks shocked.

She goes to her room to watch the interview section of the show online, han Jun says I fell into a slump 10 years ago and while traveling I met a guy in chuncheon, he had the same name as me and we were the same age so we became close. He sang a song for me, he said he wrote it for his love, it was such a wonderful song. I was so moved when I heard the song that he offered to give it to me. He said he couldn't sing it for her anymore, he said they had broken up. In return I made him a promise that if I ever had a comeback, I'd sing the song on my first stage. I've kept my promise after 10 years. The woman he loved, the only woman who knows this song, I dedicate this song "letter" to her. Manbok keeps replaying the last 2 lines and crying.

She goes to star agency and knocks calling out ahjussi! But no one responds.

She's at the bus station buying a ticket to chuncheon and talking to her friend on the phone, she says I'm sure of it, he said it so clearly that only one woman knows the song. My mom sang it to me all the time, she said it was a birthday gift from my dad. It was the song I planned to sing on the show incase he saw it. That man is my real dad. Of course han Jun ahjussi pretended not to know anything about it when I asked so I gave him a tip that I think sunbok has a crush on Mark. If my mom looks for me, cover for me. Ahjussi said he met him last 3 years ago, he owns a Cafe somewhere in chuncheon, I think I know where, I need to find out first if he really is my dad. I'm a bit nervous.

She arrives at a Cafe called café letter and enters nervously. It's empty except for the owner who seems to be the man in the picture and the song "letter" is playing on the radio. Man bok stares at him with tears streaming down her face. The man is surprised and she stammers my glasses, my eyes are sore.

The man offers her a mug of hot chocolate and continues working but she just keeps staring at him and pretending not to look every time he catches her eye. He walks up to her and says your drink must be cold now, should I make you another cup? She stammers no I like it cold and forces herself to drink. He smiles and asks where she's from? She says incheon. He asks if she came alone to chuncheon? She says Erm my parents are at gongjicheon, they're taking a walk, I'm cold that's why I came into the Cafe. It's obvious he doesn't believe her but he plays along and asks what grade she's in? She says I'm entering middle school this year. He says you must be happy about that. Call me if you need anything, he goes back to work. She says excuse me, that song letter... He gives her a plate of cookies and another mug of hot chocolate and asks how do you know the song, did you listen to it on TV yesterday? She sadly nods yes. He says the world is so quick these days, people are already downloading it online. She says excuse me... This song?.. She looks like she's about to ask him if he wrote it then she says it's really nice. He says wow you have really good taste. She asks can I come here often? He says it's pretty far from incheon. She says I mean if I'm ever in chuncheon. He says sure, anytime. I'll make you a hot cup of chocolate. She says my mom... My mom.... Really likes gongjicheon. He says really? That's nice to hear, I really like it here too.

She's leaving and he escorts her out saying the weather is really cold won't you wait some more inside? She says no problem, I'll wait for them on the main road. He says OK, take care and congratulations on your graduation. She thanks him and turns to leave. He says wait! She freezes and turns back to him slowly and nervously, he says what's your name? I didn't even ask. She looks disappointed and says in her mind "lee yujeong" (I think that's her birth name). She answers out loud "oh man bok". He says that's a cute name, it suits you. She says thank you. They say their goodbyes and she leaves crying sadly.

She's at the playground with her friend and Leo. Friend asks her if she was able to recognize her dad immediately just like in movies. Man bok says of course not, we parted when I was tiny. She says actually he hasn't changed at all, his back view looked exactly like the picture. Friend asks so are you going to live with your real dad now? Man bok says I don't know, I took his business card from his Cafe, it has his phone number and his Facebook address. Friend says I'm proud of you (friend's name is haeun). Man bok asks "haeun, what would you do if you were me?" she starts crying and continues "if you found the cruel dad that deserted you and your mom, what would you do, If you saw your dad living happily after deserting you, what would you do, he's so cruel isn't he? He didn't even recognize his own daughter, I recognized him immediately. In the future its going to get worse, after a while I won't be able to see anything (me: huhn?)

We see mom's interview, she says man bok's not well (me: oh no wonder she's very familiar with the doctor, that must be why dad goes to the doctor too and is studying medical books awwn), 2 years ago her vision got worse so we went to the doctor, she has retinitis pigmentosa. Mom starts to tear up, she says when we first heard about it, we thought the heavens would fall. We see manbok's interview, she says I feel really sorry to my family (me: baby you don't have to apologize for being sick). We see sunbok's interview, she says of course I'm the eldest, I'll take care of my man bok. My ideal man is someone that will take care of man bok and live together with us, it'd be nice if he was handsome too. We see daebok's interview, he's bouncing a tennis ball, he says I'll use the prize money from the Guinness book of records to cure man bok's eyes. Back to mom and dad's interview, mom says we're all preparing, I'm trying to get my driver's license so I can drive for manbok, she doesn't see well at night, it hurts me to see her come home as soon as sun sets. Dad is learning English, he says I saw a foreign couple on TV once, they had a kid with an incurable disease, they studied medical books and actually came up with a cure, I hope to help manbok too but all the medical books are in English. Our employee mark is from the Philippines, he teaches me English but it's difficult. To see if there are any new treatments, I often visit the local hospital. Mom cries and says one day I met the doctor in front of our house and he told me that my husband asked if he could donate his eyes to manbok, the doctor said we were alike cos I had asked him the same thing. Dad says I'm sure all parents feel the same way. They both start crying and dad begs the director to edit their crying out.

At home, dad is taking English lessons from Mark, daebok is bouncing a tennis ball while jumping on one leg, manbok is on the computer checking Jun's Facebook page, she says he has a fun life, I wonder if he's still single. Mom comes in screaming her name, manbok turns off the computer, mom says I finally passed my driver's test. Everyone is happy, daebok says what a shame, you could have won the Guinness world record for the person that failed drivers test the most (lol). Mark receives a phone call, it's Leo's mom. She comes to tell him that she's leaving him and Leo. Mark starts to cry, manbok notices Leo's school bus arriving so she goes to distract Leo so he doesn't see his parents breaking up.

Later that night they are all having dinner and the whole family does their best to cheer Mark up, sunbok still has her one sided crush on him. Mom and dad give manbok her graduation gift, a yellow jacket and a letter. She cries as she reads the letter in her interview "our lovely daughter manbok, congratulations on your graduation, you will not be able to wear this when you are older but your family will be your jacket for life, we love you."

She's with Leo in her room, going through Jun's Facebook as usual, she notices that he uploaded the picture of a lady and she looks very shocked

She goes to haeun's house and asks to borrow some money promising she'll pay back. Haeun gives her and asks are you sure? Man bok says he uploaded his wedding invitation, it's 1pm today at Chuncheon. Haeun says no not that, are you sure he's going to the US after the wedding? Man bok says I think all his family members live over there so I think he's going there for good. Her phone rings its daebok calling, she ignores it and tells haeun "if I don't see him today, it's all over"

At home the entire family is worried cos man bok is nowhere to be found and not picking her calls, mom wonders if she's been kidnapped and wants to call the police, dad tells her to calm down and search carefully first. Daebok notices that her backpack is gone and sunbok notices that her new jacket is missing. Mom remembers finding the picture of man bok and her mom on the floor and wonders if man bok ran away from home, daebok says man bok doesn't have the guts to leave home. Leo says man bok went to see her dad, she went in a bus, she told Haeun.

At the bus station, man bok calls Haeun and tells her not to tell her family of her whereabouts if they ask. Lol family has already called for Haeun and are there as she receives the call. Mom signals to haeun to ask where exactly the wedding hall is at Chuncheon? Before man bok can respond, her battery dies.

Haeun tells the family about how man bok found her real dad and that man bok's plan has always been to leave home after graduating from high school so that she won't burden anyone when her illness gets worse, she says she'd rather burden her real dad than you people. I think she's going to stop the wedding so he won't go to the US. Mom starts crying and says but that's not her dad (Aigoo)

We see mom's interview, she says man bok's mom was an orphan, she met man bok's dad when she was young, he found out that she was pregnant and ran away, man bok's mom worked so hard to raise her alone. After a while, she met Jun, even though man bok wasn't his daughter, he took such good care of her but his family didn't accept, they were so mean to man bok's mom, he didn't want to hurt her anymore so he broke up with her after 2 years. He was the only father figure man bok had, her real name is Lee yujeong, he named her (awwn).

The family is driving to Chuncheon to look for man bok but they don't know where to start cos they don't even know Jun's full name, daebok remembers that during han Jun's interview, he said that the person who wrote the song had the same name and age as his. They start calling all the wedding halls in Chuncheon until they find the address of the one where the groom's name is han Jun. It's 12:22pm and the wedding is for 1pm so dad speeds up his driving. Man bok is in a taxi on her way too but there's heavy traffic. It's 12:45 and they are all still stuck in traffic, dad suggests that he and daebok running would be faster, he leaves sunbok and mom to drive the car lol mom is terrified cos this is her first time driving after taking her test.

Manbok arrives at the wedding hall, dad and daebok are running through the streets looking for shortcuts, mom decides to brave it and drives fast. Daebok notices some shopping carts in front of a store. He asks dad to get in and while he pushes dad directs him using Google maps. Lol some foreigners on tour see them and starts to take their pictures dad tells them in English to get out of the way as the cart has no brakes .

Mom gets to the venue and is able to park perfectly, well almost perfect cos she hits a trashcan behind her. She and sunbok run out and at that moment dad and daebok also arrive. The wedding hall is huge with different weddings happening in different rooms at the same time so they all split up searching for Manbok and screaming her name. Sunbok notices the hall's broadcast room and goes in clearing her throat (lol), she grabs the microphone from the broadcaster and starts announcing that man bok should come out cos she got the wrong person, daebok also joins her and they're literally fighting over the mic. Unfortunately Manbok is in the restroom checking her appearance in the mirror and doesn't hear cos no speaker in the restroom (me: which is not safe BTW cos what if there's a really important announcement).

Manbok gets to the wedding hall as the wedding is about to commence, the friends of the bride and groom all clap and scream their well wishes, Jun and his bride look happy together preparing to march in. Manbok stands outside the door watching sadly, she can't bring herself to go in. The pianist plays "here comes the bride" and the couple marches in slowly, as they're marching, Manbok starts to cry and sing the letter song at the door where she stands, she starts singing quietly but after a while her voice gets louder and people start to notice and turn to stare at her while the couple are in front marching lol, the guests leave their seats and walk towards the door to watch Manbok cry and sing. The couple notices something isn't right and they turn to see what's wrong, they can hear the song but Jun can't see who's singing cos his guests are blocking the view to the entrance. At that point the family get to the venue, security wants wants to drag Manbok out but dad pleads with them to allow her finish the song. The whole family cries as she continues singing(eotteoke I'm crying). The song ends. Everywhere is quiet. The Mc signals to the pianist to continue the wedding march, she does. Jun and his bride continues marching in while the guests all go back to their seats clapping and enjoying the wedding. Manbok remains at the door crying and her family go to hug her.

We see her interview, the pd asks when was your happiest moment? She says when my shoelaces are undone. When I first joined my family, they took me to the amusement park, it was so amazing cos I had only seen it on TV, I ran excitedly but my laces kept coming undone. My mom told me as she tied it for me "from now on, I'll tie them for you, I'll do it forever" since that day, I've always been happy.

The wedding has ended, Manbok and her family are outside the hall watching Jun's friends congratulate him. Her shoelaces are undone and mom laces them. Dad says haeun told us everything....she cuts in saying dad I have to tell him something. Mom says Manbok he's not... Dad says it's OK, go tell him. She goes to him, he says Manbok right? What brings you here, she looks back at her family and says I came on a trip with my family. He says I got married today and I'll be going to the US and never coming back. By the way earlier today did you...? Man bok says my dad told me something "never give up, never give up on someone you love" so from now on never leave the one you love, if you love them stand by them until the end. He says alright I'll do that, wow Manbok you gave me the best wedding gift. Thank you. She says goodbye, she looks like she wants to say something more but says congratulations on your wedding. She goes back smiling to meet her family.

In the bus on her way home we hear her voiceover "mom, can you see? This is the city you used to love, I'll remember you every time I think of this place. I have a confession, I have a new family and I don't think about you everyday, I only think of you sometimes but I'll never forget you.

A few years later and it's manbok's graduation from middle school, daebok has gotten his nunchucks, sunbok is married to han Jun and pregnant, Mark and Leo's mom gets back together and the family lives happily ever after. The endeu.

I'd rate this 6/10,

WHAT I LIKED
1. KIM HYANG GI can act abeg, small girl projecting and delivering heavy emotions, I loved it.

2. The story, it was nice and sad and sweet. Even though I'm not adopted (well at least I hope my parents haven't been lying to me lol) I could totally relate to Manbok, even though she knows her family loved her so much, she still had this feeling of being indebted to them especially cos of her sickness which was why she was hungry for a blood relation who would be mandated to put up with her unfortunately in life lol most families are even worse than enemies Aigoo. I'm glad she ended the drama knowing she's worthy of the love she's surrounded by Sha.

I totally support him breaking up with her cos if he had been stubborn and formed fighting for love, it's either his family will continue to torment them or even if he cuts them off, she might feel guilty for separating a family or he might later hate her for being the reason he's at odds with his family. Abeg I'm glad they broke up

2. I really don't get how Jun never realized Manbok was the child he raised for 2 years. He wrote the song for her mom and according to the drama she's the only woman who knew the song, if I raised a child with a woman and suddenly some kid came talking about the song, I'd at least be suspicious plus he heard it again on his wedding day and gave no reaction? Is it that he really totally forgot all about the woman he lived with and the child he named or was he pretending not to know cos he's about to start a new life? I hope that's not the case cos that'd be mean, I think the least he could have done was acknowledge the fact that he loved her and her mom years ago after all nobody is asking him to adopt her. I really wanted her to tell him her real name but oh well....

Love all play has finally ended. It was a satisfying watch for me. My couples were intact, uri 2nd lead couple finally had their own bleh kiss scene and everyone lived happily ever after lol. I totally knew those grouchy athletes would also fall for each other Aigoo. I can't believe I used to run away from sports themed dramas, now I look forward to them. Anyway as long as the writers do not bore me with too many sporting things, I'm fine

Minhyuk's drama has officially finished filming. It's a Netflix drama which means it's going to be preproduced which means I have to wait a few more months before I can watch it, hell let's hope they don't wait till 2023 to release it. Oh well, at least all 12 episodes will be released at once so blessing and a curse *sigh* all I know is the drama better be really good or I'll scream
