Well said, I wouldn't have said it any better.

Engr2016:
Politics is just like other secular activities or occupations like engineering, medicine, business etc. Do you ever ask if a Christian can be an engineer, doctor , businessman etc? The right question should be : should a Prophet , Pastor, Preacher or any man of GOD leave his Divine calling or assignment to go into politics? The answer is a big No. Our Lord JESUS knew His assignment and purpose and that was why he avoid anything that could derail it. A regular born again christian (not a minister) can go into politics
provided he can stand for the truth and avoid comprising godly standards. There are several good examples like that in the bible. Don't forget that even the most popular bible version today the KJV was supported by King James of England about 400 years ago. Before that time, ordinary citizens were not allowed to have a copy of the Hebrew/Greek/Latin bible versions which were mainly accessible by the clerics and elites. Tell me how it would have been possible if the king was a pagan that hate the gospel. The scriptures itself affirms that when the righteous rule, the people rejoice and vice versa. The problem we have in Nigeria is because majority of Christians that represented us failed woefully in standing for the truth . They easily blend with the evil trend. They aren't as bold as Daniel, Josep, Esther etc. President Obasanjo, Jonathan and even VP Osinbajo are all Christians o. Did they represent us well? Well , you can answer it yourself. Remember, even the first president/ head of state that ever declared war in Nigeria is a supposed christian - Gen Gowon. Ironically, he even declared it on a fellow Christian region of the South East. At the end, millions of lives were lost for the purpose of national ego. Is national ego or unity more than love for God and mankind ? How can a Christian president watch millions perish in war just like that? I hope Gowon has repented sha. We Christians should stop blaming non- Christians. The problem is with us. Let's fix it first. Remember Jesus said we are the light of the world and salt of the earth.

1. Yes, we do. And the answer is No! A follower of Jesus Christ, one who lives in continuous submission to and obedience of the teachings( and commandments) of Jesus Christ ought not to work for perishable food aka daily bread, as commanded by Jesus Christ Himself in John 6 vs 25 - 33 undecided

2. I am afraid you delude your own self by pretending there exists some sort of separation in callings where Jesus Christ is concerned. There is no special divine callings separate from your regular born again Christian. Instead every single individual who believes in Jesus Christ is called to doing the exact same job, this by Jesus Christ, the one who calls all to Himself. And according to Jesus Christ, none of those who is called by Him is to rule over the others in much the same way as the leaders of the Gentiles aka politicians do - Matthew 20 vs 24 - 28. undecided

3. So because King James translated the first Bible to a version owned the state and church of England, the translation then widely advertised and used by English missionaries even in Africa, that somehow means King James was called by God and his translation of scripture endorsed by God? undecided

4. Wrong! The problem with the Nigerian Christian is you lot hold fast to the ways of this world this while pretending you do so for God's sake. You abandon God's Truth for the sake of the doctrines and traditions of men(and their churches/assemblies) all in your bid to attempt to hold hard that which is of this world while claiming you also have that which is of God. Bro, what you need to realise is that not all disciples will become an apostle or any member of the 5 fold ministry (pastor, prophet, evangelist or teacher) . These are explicit divine calling (not for everyone) in addition to being a disciple(true christian ) first. This category of Christians should not leave their calling to go into politics unless JESUS explicitly told you so for a specific assignment and this must be confirmed by other Spirit filled prophets. Even with that your initial divine calling must still stand. Jesus never picked all the 120 disciples to become apostles or prophets. He simply wanted others (non ministers) to represent Him well anywhere they are as ambassadors of his Kingdom and also preach the gospel to all creations as commanded in the ending of Matthew. Which means, whether you are an engineer, doctor, programmer, businessman, politician or tax collector, stand for Christ and live a godly life. Jesus never commanded anyone to avoid a particular occupation in itself (except if it is explicitly wrong e.g robbery, fraudster etc) . What he commanded is for us to repent. The only one that is wrong is for an already called minister to leave his ministry for the things of this world. E.g Demas. 2Tim 4:10 . But the only problem is that majority of Christians that go into politics and in fact every other areas of human endeavour failed to stand for God. The easily compromise and join them. We have them in banking, IT, business, education and virtually every area of human human endeavour. This is not peculiar to politics alone.

Politics is not a sinful practice. It is the people that are sinful and indulge in all sorts.

Let me ask you this question, who will you vote for? Are you thinking of Atiku or Tinibu? Or should I say it is Peter Obi? If you're considering Peter Obi, why? He is also a Christian wanting a difference in His country but you are busy saying No. How then can Nigeria be better? If you are voting one of the others? Are you not voting against your faith?

Let's go deeper again, now with the present system we will more of killings in the country? Are you voting to continue this or want this to change?

How can the change come if we don't get involved?

Why are Christians not thinking outside the box? Must you join APC and PDP to contest?

Bmaster:
why would there rather a satanist rule them instead for them to direct their country's affairs through the wisdom God will be giving them ?

God is not giving human governments any support that's why Jesus asked his disciples to pray for God's Kingdom (government) Matthew 6:10

That's why Jews hated Jesus with passion and killed him because he doesn't even care who rules them all his time, energy and resources were channelled to the preaching and teaching campaign about God's Kingdom!

John the baptist who intervened in the affairs of politics was arrested and beheaded {Matt 14:1-10} Jesus never rescued him despite all his power!

WHY? Jesus answered:
"From the days of John the Baptist until now, the kingdom of heaven has been subjected to violence, and violent people have been raiding it" Matt 11:12

Faithful people have to be strong in holding themselves not to intervene in the political affairs Satan raises as option and imposed on them otherwise their hands will be soiled in the innocent blood of their neighbours due to struggle for a good governance {Revelations 6:3-4} under the system controlled by the WICKED ONE! 1John 5:19

So according to Jesus Christ of Nazareth many evil things will occur due to quest for power {Matt 24:7-9} what did Jesus order his faithful disciples to do by the time all these is happening?

"Because of the increase of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold, but the one who stands firm to the end will be saved. And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come" Matthew 24:12-14

He ordered his own disciples to ENDURE TO THE END.
Though it's not easy to BELIEVE (TRUST) in Jesus' commandments but only those trusting (believing) in him will have everlasting life! John 3:16 undecided

[s]Joseph and Daniel both participated in the political affairs of foreign pagan nations, but they were slaves none of them raised any flag for the position, they were called to serve and they don't have any contrary opinion.
According to God's word nations choosing human rulers are doing what God hates most, that's why Samuel told the Israelites it's a crime against the Almighty God and that the Israelites will pay severely for it! 1Samuel 8:4-22

Do you notice how cruel human rulers will be? Ecclesiastes 4:1; 8:9

Well Samuel concluded by telling them:

When that day comes, you will cry out for relief from the king (ruler) you have chosen, but the LORD will not answer you in that day." 1Sameul 8:18

The reason is because Satan is the real overall ruler of the world today {1John 5:19} he gained this after the first human pair rebelled against the Creator so they passed all their unborn generations under Satan's rule {2Corinthians 4:4} Satan can't rule successfully because for LOVE, JOY and PEACE to reign in the human society all of us must be like humble children {Matthew 11:25} but Satan promised his own subjects that "they will be like God" {Genesis 3:4-5} each of them wants to rule as in dominate their fellowman.
So instead of the FRUIT of God's Holy Spirit to reign in the midst of the Creatures made in God's image {Galatians 5:22-23} it's the WORKS of the flesh that will continue ravaging mankind! Galatians 5:19-21

That's why Satan's system will all fail until God's Kingdom comes to wipe them all out! Daniel 2:44

Let the one who has ears listen! Matthew 13:9 smiley[/s]

Jesus was invited to participate in politics by the overall master in politics, but there's one thing he demanded from Jesus {Luke 4:6-7} do you notice what Satan (the ruler of the world) asked in return? John 14:30; 1John 5:19
Well the Bible is not just a story book Sir, it's meant to enlighten us about sacred secrets of things that befell unwise people in ancient times! 1Corinthians 10:6, 11
Whoever participate in politics anywhere on this planet is serving Satan, that's why Jesus said he came to expose all the secret of the devil for his own disciples, politicians themselves often confess that politics is a dirty game which means it's not meant for sheep but goats.

You are not serious at all, you are just confusing people by taking scriptures out of context. Politics is not meant for some certain people, infact God expect christains who by destiny are called to politics to go there and change it for good and not leave it in the hands of these evil and corrupt men.

Great servant of old like Joseph and Daniel, participated in politics, and even worked at the highest echelons of government. And because of them many things changed in Babylon and Egypt, and they also ruled for a very long time.

That's the benefit of having God-fearing people in government.
