#STPNGA Stats Attack: Ahmed Musa

Get ready for this one! grin

Ahmed Musa only played 32 mins off the bench yet he created the most chances in the game (5).

4 of them being Big chances. Crazy creative productivity from Musa. Little wonder he bagged 2 assists for 2 of Osimhen's 4 goals today.

The Guv'nor showed he still got it. wink

Nigeria makes history already just 4 games into Peseiro's reign. This is how you statpad!!!!

Our 10-0 win today is officially our biggest win in an international game.

The Spambots limited my inputs for the rest of the game so I stuck to twitter.

The supermods just helped out now so I can comment again.

Omo!!! This is the Kind of Vawulence I love to see!!!

Ten Zero!!! That is how you treat minnows!!! grin

So many firsts today....

- Osimhen's first Senior Career Hattrick. He got it and then went one further to make it a Super Hat-trick. cool That's a correct Vawulence Attitude. grin

- Moffi's first goal in 7 caps. Went on to score 2.

- Dennis' First Super Eagles goal in 7 caps.

- Lookman's First Super Eagles goal in 4 caps.

- Etebo's First Freekick Goal in the Super Eagles. In 40 caps.

- Uzoho's first Passing perfection in goal in his entire competitive career having played 45 mins or more. 22/22 passes all made. Didn't misplace one.

The perfect display of dominance.

They indeed got the "Statpad" Memo at Halftime sent by my able assistant, Yara Yara. What a day. We move!!

Nothing special in this

I would have done the same as a coach tbh. After all, it's just Sao Taome and Principe

cool

If we were still under papa rohr, we would have won 3-1 and some 'shebi we won' people will still be bringing excuses for the low score eg. The sun is entering the players eyes

I prefer Rohr to Peseiro

Could it be the Rohr factor also limited him?

Yes, the focus is on Osimhen's Super Hat-trick and brace of assists, Lookman's First goal, Etebo's sweet Direct freekick, and the 10-0 historic scoreline.... BUT...

Spare a thought for our Midfield Orchestrator, Alexander "The great" Iwobi.

He didn't bag a goal or an assist today but he ran the show in the middle.

He made the most touches in the game (111)

He made the most accurate passes (88)

He also delivered the most accurate long balls (11/14).

He created one direct chance but had a hand in several of the build up plays that led to some of the goals.

This is to remind us that a deeplying playmaker may not always register a goal or an assist but his influence on games is immeasurably obvious. He is the wheels-turner in our Middle game dynamics.

And there was no one more involved than Alex Iwobi today. No one. 111 touches. 88 accurate passes.... My Goodness... that is God-like influence. Take a bow Maestro.

He is overrated

cool

Abeg, my pessimism is on overdrive today, make una no vex.

The win against Sao tome and principe wasn't a coincidence, it was a tactical maneuvre.

We wouldn't have won at least by this large margin, if our build up was fast paced for the following reasons:

1. Those guys are faster.

2. They maintained a low block. When playing a team that maintains a low block, you need time to break them down, to identify spaces and weak spots, and then take advantage of those. If you notice we scored more goals in the second half, the goal fest would have continued if the play was allowed to extend through the added minutes.

3. We needed to maintain possession. To break them down we needed to know how they defend, we can only study them that way if we maintain the bulk of possession. Notice that we didn't allow them to keep possession. We pressed them to either cede possession or commit errors.

4. Our slow bulldup enabled us to take calculated risks. Notice that we didn't try so many dribbling maneuvres, but attempted more passes of the ball. Teams that maintain a low block will hope to hit on the counter, once they get the ball during the opposition's attacking forays.

Etebo and iwobi should be commended for the beautiful roles the played in the win.

Victor James Osimhen is the FIRST Naija player to score 4 goals in a match for the Super Eagles since Rashidi Yekini did so in 1991 vs Burkina Faso for a 7-1 win.

Nigeria created 16 big chances against Sao Tome, almost half of what Norwich created in 38 games in the Premier League

The most I've ever seen in one game.

Based on what we saw today, would iheanacho have it easy when he returns?
Or does he start from the bench?

He is a DMF, it's literally his job to delay transition once in a while. You can't play gongho for 90minutes, have you seen Busquets turning in the middle of the pitch before? A good DMF should know when to slow the ball down, you may not like it but it is what it is. It is left for Iwobi or whoever the pacesetter is in the team to request the ball from him and move it.
. I know all these. I doubt you watched that game if not you won't be saying these regarding etebo's game today. There are situations where is either he couldn't trap well, is delaying quick exchanges ( one example with iwobi),robbing the ball or caught out of positions . He had an average game. Against a good side he will be exposed. I understand he hasn't played for a long time and its evident. However nice freekick .

IMO, people who are still bitter about us not qualifying for the world cup definitely staked a lot either financially or emotionally in that Ghana game, cus I don't see why it's so hard for them to move on..

Notwithstanding the quality of the opponent today, I saw a lot of improvement in the team.. Our overall performance was better today..

And I have to admit that the pitch played a big factor in this... How difficult can it be to build and maintain just one world class football pitch for the national team? It is 2022 FFS!
Financially, no
Emotionally, yes. But healing is in the wings

You're mistaking creativity and skill. Skill is not creativity that's why we see people here calling Ejuke our most creative player when he's only skillful at best.

Chukwueze is more skillful but Lookman is more creative and a better overall player. Lookman had more numbers this season. 8 gaols 5 assists while Chukwueze had 3goals 3 assists.

Lookman's pass success rate is 80% while Chukwueze's is 75% so I don't know why you're calling Chukwueze a better passer. I see Chukwueze as lethal only when you're looking to hit a team on the counter. He's skillful and has a good left leg to put the ball in the right spot. However, making him a starter when you have Lookman on the bench is a no no.

Well said
