I am surprise most guys here just found stranger things. The show brought Netflix to limelight. Patiently waiting for season 4 vol. 2 on July 1.

For me it's 3>1>2>4

Don’t get me wrong, I am very much enjoying S4, but something seems off about it for me in some ways. Some tighter writing and removal of some characters would help out a lot. There are 4 different groups right now. There should be two (3 at most). The Suzie cheaper by the dozen subplot is completely useless, and the Jason subplot is going nowhere.

Season 4 writing is only trumped by S1. The Jason subplot was needed, and i think it won't even last that long going forward so i see no problem with it. The Duffer brothers have been writing minimal characters like this, so that the show is not just about the kids we know, Just like Bob in S2, the character wasn't going anywhere but it was needed in S2 and ties to the overall flow of the plot. Giving Suzie a proper screen time after her cameo in S3 to understand why she's a nerd with her family's background was needed too.
I simply can't fault S4 Vol. 1. It's S1>S4>S3>S2 imo.

The introduction of Bob was super necessary. He played two crucial roles towards the plot's advancement, the first of which resulted in the mind flayer possessing Will, and the second resulted in Joyce and co safely escaping the demagorgon-infested facility. Unlike Bob's, Suzie's and Jason's subplots are both getting in the way of the plot's advancement.

The writing in general is been bogged down by two many moving pieces. The longer episodes are a drag. I like long episodes, but I believe they should be reserved for finales or epilogues. With the unnecessary subplots and such, it makes the episodes tedious to watch.

I'm hoping Vol. 2 will clean up most of the mess Vol. 1 made and finish strong, because the writing has been the weakest it's ever been since this show began.

The long episode was necessary becuz they didn't want to extend beyond S5, so they had just S4 and S5 to tie up everything and produce a finale and closure that sticks.

it carried into episode 6 so that ship has already sailed. Won't be surprised to see it rearing its ugly head in the season finale. It's a filler that has no place in a show like Stranger Things.

That's just not true. They had top shows like House of Cards, Orange is the New Black and Daredevil already streaming long before Stranger Things came out.
