Aaaaarghmed: Thank you for this, I just wrote to the embassy thinking they're the real ones only for the person to tell me I have to pay for the appointment fee so they can fix me. Immediately I knew they are scam. But I have sent my details to them already hope it's not going to affect me |

I did mine, the list had about 10 names of people to be interviewed on the day. Only 2 + me = 3 showed up [It’s possible that the validity of the documents entitling some of the absentees to come to the embassy has already expired or something else I can’t explain but I’d love to know] My time was 10:30am 5 others were slated for earlier (8am-ish) but only 2 showed up and they had both left before I came. I suspect this was the case because on the list only those 2 were marked present and their details filled, out of all the people whose time was earlier than mine but everyone else was left blank even though their time had passed. It was minutes past 9am and I was called in, I was shocked I had assumed I’d have some time to relax and collect my thoughts, I also erroneously assumed the crowd outside were all for visa interview. Only to find out I was the only one present for the interview. They brought a list and asked of my name and time. I pointed it out to the guy: I was number 5 or 6 on the list. One Naija security instructed another: “Tell them someone is here for 10:30am” The white security: “Ok let him in, tell him to come” It was all good, I entered; I had no chance to explain myself just quick fire questions about 10 questions and that was it. I answered everything to the best of my ability. The lady went through my documents returned one original, she was pissed I stapled my passport photograph “did you get that information from the gate?” She yelled. I replied “I did that long before I arrived abuja, I’m the only one for interview at the gate and the form said…” she wasn’t interested in my explanation she proceeded without letting me finish. The thing pain me small because I felt I hadn’t said the most important thing I wanted to say but I kept it in. played it off. I was going to say the form CLEARLY states ‘Passport’ with a rectangle for passport and the list clearly states colored 35*45 passport photograph with white background so it was only logical that I or someone else would place the passport on the area designated for passport. You can’t tell me in all the years that embassy has been there I am the first or only person to have placed a passport on the place marked Passport. This wasn’t some cheat, hack or expo, or even something I thought would be of any real importance. The date of arrival I had thought would be off more importance was scuffed aside like it was nothing. She gave me the document to change something and sign. Write something else and sign. So that passport Thing was the only notable stormy water or rough play incident, she took off the passport photo and gave it back to me and stapled the second passport to the form She had succeeded in destabilizing my train of thought, I had to slow down and started repeating my answers twice, and more slowly. I felt she may have assumed someone coached me at the gate and maybe I crammed the answers, since I may have been giving all the answers they wanted to hear. By 10:08 I was out already. Still no one else came for the interview till my ride arrived and I left at almost 10:20, you’d think anyone scheduled for 10:30 would be at the venue at 10:20 latest. There were a lot of people present when I arrived earlier but most of them were there to complain and non of them was allowed in for various reasons ranging from no appointment date yet to late arrival and more. But the number of people there to complain scared me. All the seats were taken some had to stand. By the time I came out every one of them had left or were leaving out of frustration except one guy who was sitting, [another cause for concern especially for someone such as myself who needs to take a flight to abuja and book a hotel to do anything at the embassy]. All in all I felt it was too easy and I don’t like when things like these are too easy because it’s a little nerve wrecking it feels like a set up, maybe it’s PTSD from my days in University where certain lecturers would give us questions like “what is law” “give 10 definitions of law as test questions for 10 marks” and at the end of the day the whole class would fail because it was a trap or only meant to prove something to us and make us buy a handout. Especially when you know the lecturer has been placing emphasis on names of those who bought the handout and saying things like “you can’t pass this course without this book”, away from my PTSD of easy questions. To me it seemed easy because I love politics, government, history, general knowledge, geography (I hated geography in school because of the teacher tho) and all that stuff so nothing was challenging to me. As I was answering them I said to myself are you sure this woman will not say I got all these answers from the gate too if she said that about fixing passport photograph to a place designated “passport”. This lady may be paranoid oh or it is just tactics to through me off. Because everything else up until then was 100% smooth. But then I saw maths and my heart sank, alarm started blowing in my brain I had to calm myself down took 3 deep breathes solved the first and 3rd they were very easy (they had the least number of signs) but the middle one was more technical with plenty signs (x/and divide) so I needed one extra breathe it was also doable and I submitted Now we await the outcome. You know how something to you is such a big deal, you’ve spent months or even years gathering and preparing but to the people in charge or on lookers, the guys who determine your fate you’re just another statistic, just another days job, I mean to you it’s months or years of work and preparation to them it’s just another 10-15 minutes in the office LOL that’s the reality of things like these. Or another more gruesome example is how to the mortuary attendant it’s just another dead body but to someone else it’s a loved one with many shared experiences, dreams, hopes, aspirations etc. etc, That’s why I hate when things like these are too easy and the indifference is to the max, although it’s better than certain other outcomes. So we take solace in that. For those who have been lucky and filled with grace to get to this point, my wish for us all is that same grace and luck continues to carry us till the very end. -BB 7 Likes |

I don’t know how much your fees are But Poland is Cheap compared to most other countries you’ll find especially in Europe and North America. That money will not take you all the way for a student visa but will do a lot for you, almost all the major things infact. Consider that Proof of funds alone is like 1.5m to 2m Flight ticket 300 to 400k if not more Insurance is 35k Visa application fee 80euro There are other things to consider too like police report, transport to the embassy and more Also as a student you’ll need to apostille or legalize your documents or whatever it’s called at the ministry of education or foreign affairs go to the student visa section you should see more info about that. If you will get more money in the next 6months or there about then you may be able to do it all but if no money is coming in just this 1.5m I seriously doubt you’ll be able to do it all. Also have in mind that VISA INTERVIEW at the polish embassy is not even guaranteed talk less of the VISA APPROVAL itself. At the embassy I saw MANY people who came to complain and last year both online and offline I saw many students who wanted to get refunds back because they couldn’t get a visa interview let alone the visa itself and for many of them their schools had already commenced. So essentially it’s a gamble; I mean they call it a “Draw” for a reason, so when you apply just remove your mind. If you plan to check every week or have people who will nag you for wasting 1m and getting no immediate result then it’d be a really difficult couple of months for you. [I’ll show you a screen shot of my “sorry you were not drawn this week”, and as long as it looks I deleted some of them and some weren’t covered in the screenshot, if not it’d be longer] And consider the fact that the ‘raffle’ draw is held once every weekend to select about 8 or 10 lucky applicants out of the thousands in the pool and we only have 4 weekends a month on average. Consider this we only have 52 weeks in a year (some people’s documents are valid for 6months (6 months work permit), some documents like the Nigeria police report or certificate of good character only valid for 3 months. Here is the maths If the embassy calls 10 people per week for interview And accepts all 10 (which is impossible but let’s pretend) that will be 10 applicants accepted * 52 weeks = 520 applicants granted visa out of the thousands in the pool/draw What happens to the others not drawn at all in that 52 weeks and their documents expires? You have to have the full picture before going in. [and according to my own hearsay from last year(this is not fact oh, even if it were fact things may have changed for the better or for worse) I heard they only gave 1 or 2 visas per week then] at the time I was speculating that it may be because they had reached their limit/target/cap for the year. So before you start you should be as prepared as possible have all these in mind, have as many of the requirements as you possibly can, have things you feel you need to help you succeed, and also be prepared to lose it all if it doesn’t go your way. Because the truth is there are people who were qualified, they had everything but they were never called for the interview at all till their documents expired. [i’ll add a picture of someone’s else’s application being removed from the system because his documents had expired] My advice for you would be find the country that is most suitable for you, whose requirements you can meet and go with that, if that country is Poland then go ahead. Don’t let anyone or any of these things discourage you because it’s not easy for Nigerians in any embassy at all. And the truth is the more time you waste being indecisive the tougher things get. You can see that everywhere when I first thought of traveling abroad TOEFL was 60something thousand naira when I wanted to apply it was 70 thousand today it’s getting to 80 thousand luckily I didn’t need it. It’s the same for flight ticket the price has kept going up, its the same for the requirements at ALL embassies in Nigeria catering to Nigerians. Example; the amount you need to put in a German blocked account has just been increased As at 2014 Poland didn’t require insurance and one other thing I can’t remember now for their visa interview today the list has grown, they not only want you to have insurance but they want you to use specific insurance companies they approve and listed on their site and the insurance should have a specific duration, even the amount in the account for prove of funds as at a year or 2, people on this very thread used 500 to 600k as Proof of funds and were given national visas to Poland as at this year I don’t know of anyone who has entered Poland using less than 1m I have a feeling even that will also go up in future that’s why I recommended 1.5 to 2m to you. So regardless of all the hurdles I told you about earlier still try and apply if you are convinced it’s the best chance you have or it’s the most suitable for you and you are willing to endure. It may be Poland or any other country you prefer but the truth is the earlier the better. Of all the countries visa processes I’ve been tracking over the years Germany, Poland, Canada, Estonia, and others not one of them became easier with time instead they ALL kept getting stricter and stricter. If you go back to 2012-2013 and tell Nigerians that in future Poland embassy will take 6 months to even give them visa interview and they will be getting that interview by raffle draw they will laugh at you and ask you if poland is USA and if it is American visa lottery they are applying for. American visa lottery itself is a topic for another day. So bro, The best time to plant a tree was yesterday the next best time is today, if you are serious to travel 1.5 should be enough to accomplish alot with in that regard. I wish you all the best, Goodluck. 1 Like
