There is everything wrong with giving birth to much children.

It is not good financially, emotionally and health wise on both couple.

If the bread winner dies, that is the beginning of suffering especially if no savings were left by the dead man.

This largely depends on what you mean by "much" - 2,3,4,5? whatever the case, bringing a child to this world is expensive as many are realising. And more importantly, there is little reason, if any, to suggest one shouldn't have "much" children as far as they can afford it. However, there is little evidence to conclude that people with "much" children are less happier than those with less.

At 39 years old...I have even stopped giving birth. My 3 children are ok for me.

I don't expect money from them when they grow up but parental care.

The only thing I owe them is financial education and interestingly,formal education which I know is just to brace them up.

Finally,I agree with u that those who have few children do not know what those with many children are going through.
Times have changed many children no longer amount to blessing but more poverty upon poverty.

Looking for who to blame will compound your issue. brace up bro and make meaning out of your life. i have been there before as a first child of eight children and lost my father at 16yrs. I did all manner of work to see myself through school, help my siblings also. today all of my younger ones are graduate, by the grace of God after school I got a very good job, became chattered Accountant and the rest now is history. my Mama is living large now in a duplex i built for her. I learnt from my parent mistake and gave birth to two a boy 15 in private university and a girl 13 a final year student in a good secondary school, to give them a better life. God will help you. No excuse for failure in life.

Me I personally like big families, the alhaji lifestyle. As in, surrounded by a wife and children, both biological and adopted, in a very big house with gardens stretches far beyond what your eyes can see. But the catch there is that before I will embark on that lifestyle, money will be available plenty.

Me for example, I come from a family of five children, and my parents adopted four kids. So I have eight siblings. All doing well for themselves. My father made sure he was able to afford bringing us to the world, and I'm blessed to be enriched by such big tribe. On my birthday, na pure cash out. Gift and love from all angles.

There are many graduate out there with good education but no job

With an unemployment rate of 33%, opportunities are scarce. This is why i emphasized on "afford". The elites are sending their kids abroad for greener pastures in droves. Plus their parents invested well to ensure they acquire good education and relevant I.T skills, thereby making them highly sought after wherever they go. Poor people can't afford this. This phenomenon is observed in many countries across the world.

He's already in the pot of soup, so of what use is it embarrassing his parents because they made mistakes (however you want to interpret the word) l such as not knowing about family planning, or believing children are blessings when they did not plan adequately for them? His parents still see him as a blessing. All their reactions are just frustrations at not meeting up financially concerning their parental responsibilities. Nigeria is a ticking time bomb. Our population is exploding at an exponential rate and our already small economy is barely growing.

It's only going to be a matter of time before shît hits the fan. We have 200 million Nigerians with almost half in poverty and by 2050 we'll be at 400 million. Only God know how many percentage go dey in poverty by then.

And there's barely any improvement because we keep making the same bad decisions that led us to this mess in the first place

Let's assume that only 1 out of every 1000 families with similar make up as yours comes out tops in the way you describe yours, do you really not see how the odds are instead clearly stacked against people like the Op and his siblings?
