No evidence of new Tank deliveries for Nigeria.

The President's office announced the single largest procurement of Armoured vehicles a few weeks back.

So, it's safe to assume we might be getting additional Tanks and Artillery systems.
as far as I know the original requirement was for 32 tanks or something close to that

Makes sense

Except maybe China which holds a lot of US debt and the Americans are loathe to sanction or antagonize not even over Taiwan

Not a fan of the C-295. Political will, will get us the C-130J or even the C-5 Super Galaxy. We need enhanced strategic airlift capability.

Super Galaxy is a dream........has always been a USA exclusive aircraft right from C5A

This is why I don't like politicians writing supposedly unbiased news articles.... Just two weeks ago DAs shadow minister of Defence clearly stated in articles he wrote for the Daily maverick and for defence Web that there are 0 lynx helicopters operational......
They were not operational when he wrote those articles.
Bear in mind that 2 of our usual naval exercises- IBSAMAR with India and Brazil, OXIDE with France - will be held this year and participating assets are being readied.

Exercise IBSAMAR Main Planning Conference in Gqeberha.

Signal Unit Eastern Cape hosted the Exercise IBSAMAR Main Planning Conference from 6 to 10 June in Gqeberha. The Conference brought together representatives from Brazil and India as well as planners from all services and divisions to make the exercise a success.

Exercise IBSAMAR is a multinational naval exercise between the South African Navy, Brazilian Navy and Indian Navy. The exercise is planned to take place in the Algoa Bay area from 10 to 23 October 2022.

From Evert Kleynhans, Senior Lecturer at the SA Military Academy:

As we pause to remember those that paid the ultimate sacrifice for freedom on the beaches of Normandy in June 1944, I would like to bring your attention to one of our own buried far away in plot X. A. 13 of the Bayeux War Cemetery in France.
330688 Able Seaman John Barkley of the South African Naval Forces, seconded to the Royal Navy, and attached to HMS Copra for administrative purposes, died on Tuesday 6 June 1944 during the Allied invasion of Western Europe. He in all likelihood lost his life while serving on one of the landing craft during the invasion.
John, the son of Michael and Harriet Barkley, hailed from Southfield in the then Cape Province. He was 30 years of age when he passed away - about the age of some of my current students at the Military Academy.
I managed to locate his grave on a recent trip to France when I lectured at the École spéciale militaire de Saint-Cyr (French Military Academy) - will post more on this in the next few days for those interested.
Lest we forget.

So this is to be a completely different factory from FN Herstal in Eldoret? It does the same under Kenya Ordnance Factory. Will Atesci make the same 7.62 X 39 and 7.62 NATO or what exactly?

SA Military Academy team flies the flag high at international cyber strategy challenge

"The South African team, entered as the Cyber Soldiers, was one of four African teams selected. Major Engela Meintijies, Academy communication officer, reports the Saffer cyber soldiers were a surprise package, progressing to the semi-finals and being the last African team standing."

“Their achievement saw them beat experienced teams and finished as the best placed military team,” she said noting it was “a considerable achievement for a first-time team and coach”.

The Geneva Cyber 9/12 Strategy Challenge is a respected international competition designed to provide senior university students with a deeper understanding of the strategic and policy challenges associated with escalating cyber incidents and potential cyber conflict. The Geneva Centre for Security Policy (GCSP) and the Atlantic Council host the event.

David Smith-nobody

The result was that 280 troops with mainly light weapons and no armoured vehicles, found themselves facing attack by about 3 000 rebels, now competently led and supported by “technicals”, 30mm automatic grenade launchers and 73mm recoilless guns and with more to follow.

Only the skill and courage of the South African troops forced Seleka to propose a ceasefire.

How does the process work in Kenya currently?
Its a nightmare process that takes approx 3 months...
First you have to go to your nearest police station where you live and make a formal request. And of course they are going to give you a hard time b4 they hand you the request form.
Then you have to get certified by a govt psychiatrist that you are not delusional or suicidal.
Then you have go to Nairobi for an interview with the licensing board where you will also give your bank statement, Tax returns and police clearance certificate certifying you are not a suspect or hv been convicted b4. You'll also have to write a letter explaining why you want to own a firearm.
After passing all these hurdles, they then take your finger prints and give you a smart card....

This process is not always straight forward and transparent.... You could go for months waiting for your licence...

Anyway, with Chalbi Industries promoting this competition and encouraging more civies to join, here is to hoping the process will become simpler and staright forward.

- Show a Government source that you have more wink

- SA soldiers currently on deployment see pics

- well when you make unsubstantiated claims then you do owe an explanation... That's how debate works.

- lol my bru we have 43 G6, 15 upgraded G6, And 6 T5-52......Also since you love GFP so much where does SA rank and where does Nigeria rank?

- your government clearly states your budget is N1.2 trillion

- yes me to... So if I say we have f22 then that's a fact... See easy grin

- you said you have a TDL my bru wink

- except the fact that they are 50 years more modern

- a TDL is a force multiplier... That's literally what it does.

- if it can be armed then it's an armed drone my bru wink

- I know hence I've not given a single opinion but actual facts.

- how is it better when every specification shows the Kondor E is substantially better? Also the satellite is controlled by the South African intelligence service.... Also Nigeriasat2 has a life span of 7.5 years... They said if it survives 10 years then they would be very happy....it was lunched in 2011...so its probably dead.

- more than Nigeria
