Na so dem go dey born dey change their wife body to old mama. Useless men who cannot maintain a woman! After the wife isn't looking young anymore due to excessive giving births, they'll now start running to young girls. Good bless good men. 7 Likes 2 Shares |

Family spacing is sure healthy for all the family members. Both, mother, father and children. And it's not even about education but common sense. But this unhealthy spacing is annoyingly common among the poor. 5 Likes |

Islandlady: Op: child spacing isn't the problem here. But the care given to the children which is lack of planning and poverty ruined. Mercy Johnson did the same and she has a healthy children. Other well to do individuals did the same thing, planned ahead and made provision for it. No matter the spacing between children, issues like this and worst will come up if there's no plan and resource to nurture them. I see nothing bad in having all your children within short period and couples face raising them together provided it's well planned and resource are available. One man's food is another's poison. 8 Likes |

purejustice36:I served in an igbo village, although they frown against polygamy but the one wife they marry would be squeezed dry, you can easily see a woman that bore over 8 kids, one woman even told me that given birth to just 2 is not different from being barren, I even saw one with 12, the northerners are on this table too. Honourable mention to those Igedes in South west villages....more power to your gbola. I think the yorubas are still more receptive to family planning than other tribes. 15 Likes 2 Shares |

Romanoff: Condom hardly fails. Generally, the rate of contraceptive failure is very low. You can't say contraceptive failure is responsible for most families having so many children. 4 Likes |

Islandlady: I am a married man and except you get married you may not understand very well. A lot of kids come through accidental discharge. In fact my second kid was not planned. I was using withdrawal method and even avoiding ovulation time but lol, didn't work. Even condom may not always be available. So also susctible to failure. Lol Oyibo people would call that unwanted pregnancy and abort it but we Nigerians have conscience. Even family planning also fail these days. My brother nobody will intentionally space his kids for just 1 year. Impossible 4 Likes 2 Shares |

I am of the opinion that the child should be at least one year before another pregnancy, for health reasons, except in cases where contraceptive disappoints. Let the body come back to shape and rest from one child, so even if one wants to have all children in a short while maybe because they are concerned about age, have at least one year difference between your new baby and another pregnancy by the time you have the baby the other one will be two years it's still as good as having 2 babies because it's quite stressful but still a bit fair from what we see children ages 5,4,3, 2 from the same mother, she will almost die from stress. The children won't even get the appropriate attention because they are both babies. Back then there used to be 3years solid gap between children in the part of Nigeria I come from but late marriage is changing this. Pregnancy takes a toll on women you need to recover nauu. 4 Likes 1 Share |

Islandlady:This article is not really necessary. Research from the WHO shows that as women get more education, they tend to have fewer kids and are more likely to do family planning. So all the plenty talk means little or nothing Just educate the women and see what happens. |

There is this man a shoemender I do patronise many years ago. This man's wife gave birth to 5 kids in less than 6 years. I think the reason is because average Nigerian parents think the probability of have successful kids increased with increased number of kids. Anyway, these days it is common across every class/level due to late marriages. 1 Like |
