Some people aren't comfortable with contraceptives and the contraceptives can have adverse effects on the woman, not even the man. The safest method is ovulation calculation but it has to be done right, otherwise, .... Now, the regularity of one's period makes it easy to follow but when it's irregular, there is a problem. After birth, a lady's period changes and the unwanted could happen. So much to say but let this be enough. Marriage and life will teach you.

Islandlady:
I have always wanted to write on this particular article about the lack of enough gap or spacing of children by most Nigerian parents!

Few months back I was driving along that Abuja-suleja road and decided to stop by to buy some roasted plantain (boli) from a woman by the roadside! But I couldn't help notice her two baby boys crying profusely, she was holding onto one while the other was on the floor, initially I thought they were twins but after looking well, I noticed that the boy on the floor was a bit older! So I offered to help her console the older child because she was obviously frustrated and so that she can be faster with my plantain so I can hit the road back!

I carried the boy to console him and I was surprised by the way the boy clinged to me and immediately stopped crying, he was still a baby who needs his mother's attention and cuddling but all was cut short becos he now has a baby brother! I asked the women for their ages and she said the older was 2years old and his brother was 1year old! I was not really suprised but angry at the poor spacing between children by most of our Nigerian parents!

I mean if she has given them atleast a 3 to 4years age gap, the older brother will be old enough to console and play with his younger brother, while she will be able do her work without getting fraustrated and depriving the older baby of the care, attention and also stopping his breastfeeding at that early stage! This lack of child spacing harbits is very common among our parents!

I just want to urge our upcoming parents, new couples and singles hoping to get married someday and give birth to please practice a good child spacing of atleast 2-4years age gap, it has a lot of benefits and also give you time to take care of the child properly and also allowing the mothers body rest and become stronger in preparation for another child
Thanks for reading!

Interesting piece I must confess because I'm also very frustrated with those who jam-packed childs without gapping and be begging for money on the road to feed them...

You see, when I tell you to leave politics section and come to Romance section, you will think I'm beefing you, this is your area of specialization and you are doing well...!! cheesy

Banging your wife daily should not necessarily translate into more babies. Family planning is a sensitive issue in Nigeria that politicians avoid cos it upset the some section of the population and that might be end of their political career. Naija politician will avoid the topic of family planning just like a Republican will avoid gun control like plague... Our reproductive rate is definitely to make the control a fail State soon if we do not slow down and introduce what works for the Chinese.

abobote:
Nice thread. Unfortunately, there's little or nothing we can do about it, provided there's still poverty and illiteracy in the land.
While rich and average people are busy with their business and numerous side chick, the poor man have only his wife to bang as the only source of his pleasure, and doesn't understand a shit about family planning

Honestly, I don't care for child spacing because the quicker the children grow to make theirs, the quicker time comes to retirement. Three children every year at the age of forty plus twenty-one years of child care equals my retirement from raising them at the age of sixty-three.

I am a married man and except you get married you may not understand very well. A lot of kids come through accidental discharge.

In fact my second kid was not planned. I was using withdrawal method and even avoiding ovulation time but lol, didn't work. Even condom may not always be available. So also susctible to failure. Lol

Oyibo people would call that unwanted pregnancy and abort it but we Nigerians have conscience. Even family planning also fail these days. My brother nobody will intentionally space his kids for just 1 year. Impossible
Rubbish. You're part of the problem.

Withdrawal method indeed.

Hmm well we will just take that has a mistake but I am sure family planning can not fail them all the time toh! So the failed family planning is on rare occasions

Let me burst your brain, there is this friend of mine after the first child, they waited for two years and had a twins and waited again for 3yrs maybe they can just have 4 kids and stop, behold it was a triplet. I joking told him if you continue this way, your next one go be 4

People like you are the problem of this country angry So I should not talk about some challenges we faced in our country! Every countries got their own problem

Stop this mentality of don't yeye our country until the problem pass our power!

Speak about issues facing us as a nation but not in a yeye manner. I’ve seen an Oyibo guy of 19 years with 4 children age difference is one.

I will like to have 4 kids.
A male twins and a female twins

I have 3, 2 years space between each. The last born is 4 years already. Its good to space children. Then its also good to born your one or two kids quickly and concentrate on raising them.

Islandbaby example is just a case of people who do not have a plan. Their future is shaky anyone having more than two to 3 kids is planning for failure in this country. May God help them.

Its good to rush child bearing and rest.It makes you look younger than your age and to avoid having unnecessary pregnancy towards menopause something that can lead to death
The older you are the more the difficulty of having children

If I didn't think of them first I wouldn't birth them to begin with. Life is a lot easier without children. Deciding to birth offspring is a choice in the modern world.

May be she got them at 30, you dont expect her to space are child brearing that long. The best time to get pregnant after a year six month, she wil deliver two year three month which is beter for both the mother and the child even the older one
