The job like very job will definitely have challenges.
With logical thinking, here are some:

1. Stigmatisation that comes with the job. Most of them don't find it getting married for this reason. Imagine bringing the same hand you have used to wash corpse to touch your wife! That imagination alone kills every feeling in her.

2. Trauma. The sight of accident victims with various degrees of injuries, gauged out eye balls, removed hands and legs can be a source of trauma. Make sure u can handle such.

3. Fear. There is no way this won't come up once in a while. Imagine an object falling down in a quiet mortuary in the dead of the night when you are the only one there! If you are one who have no strong mind, you will see ghosts by force.

4. Unforseen challenges. Like some persons have talked about ghosts and dead bodies slapping some people... This is Africa. Our things are different. Ask those that work there for their experiences and how they are coping and avoid wrong assumptions.

Yeah all those and also the high possibility of contacting all sorts of infections and diseases.
But I have been laughing my ass off at some of the responses..... grin

When I was in UI, I stayed on amina way, just by anatomy.
When they brought new medical students, all young and scared, they the lock them in the theater with lots of bodies. They then turn off the light with the doors shut. They scream etc. You know what, after sometime they all get use to it.
See, from my room then, I will see eg a young girl studing, examining cadavas at 2 am. Only her in a room full of over 10 dead bodies! No fear, nothing.
Infact the medical students in the room next door all had "parts" in their rooms.
My gf then too was a medico, she had bones or skulls.
Guess what? my ash tray for cigar was, a skull scalp from a dead body!
I am not saying supernatural things might not happen, but to those medical students, there was nothing like that.
Infact there was one skull in the room we use to tap the head. It was like a play thing ie a toy in the room.

Person way don die una turn him head to toy and ash tray …it is well

I swear. During steeple chase exams all the dead bodies over 30 will then be cut to pieces and labelled.
We had to take the cerebellum to our to study for steeple chase and then I kept it afterwards.

People that handle mortuary and those guard burial grounds are ordinary human beings like you and me.

Believe it or not , there is no fairy here , spirit dey exist, my father's in-law the one that married his elder sister died 5 year's ago after burying the man around the compound in the night the man Will come and be disturbing the whole compound with sounds and scary noise everywhere, an enquiry was set up to find out what is the cause and possible solution it was found out the man is not happy with the way he died , the man died because he sold a family land without consulting other members of the family ate the money alone and fell sick and died so the native doctor now gave order that the man will be exhumed and re buried this time around away from his home where they call evil forest that's where they re buried the man, man is a spirit many deaths are not meant to happen.

They are just fairy tales.
All those stories about mortuary are fable, fantasy, fiction and myth.
Its here in africa you hear those stories not any in abroad.

If I get job in mortuary for lesser salary I would jump into it.
Go and do it.

@JaredNormak

They are not fairytales. White people believe in ghosts and there are reality TV shows where brave guys go to abandoned mortuaries to communicate with spirits.

Those guys use radar detectors and cameras to capture their movements and sounds. Sometimes, they ask those spirits to explain what happened in their past lives and what killed them. In summary, ghosts and spirits exist.

Back home, you can go to those Nigerians who work in mortuaries and drive hearses. They will tell you more about their scary experiences. Unlike White people, many people died in frustration in Nigeria, so our spirits are more likely to attack people.

The pay is interesting because the job is not attractive.

I just hate when adults indulge in foolish fairy tales and trying to force it down other people's throat as reality.

It's not as if everyone commenting or reading the comments (like me initially) are atheists... You don't just generalize.

The thing is, in Africa, many of us believe a lot of fables and superstitions and some do engage in diabolic stuffs as well which all have in turn warp our imagination and sense of reasoning.

Some people that have experienced preternatural stuffs concerning dead bodies have come out to comment but that doesn't mean everyone else will experience such.

But I'll like you to share your experience.
