Please go back and read my previous reviews because there's nothing to see on your profile. Nothing about your experience, niche, skillset, or services. Absolutely nothing. Not even a portfolio. There's nothing to review.

Well done! Your profile is good — probably even the best one I've reviewed on NL so far — but it needs some work.

The big problem with your pitch is verbiage; it's too wordy. The 3 questions at the beginning are asking the same thing, so combine them. Remember, a stellar copywriter should know when enough is enough.

- Look up the difference between "will" and "would" and correct your improper uses of "would."
- Your services and skills should come before your client reviews.
- Be mindful of the claims you make in your pitch, especially when you have a portfolio attached.
- I also always counsel freelancers against misusing the word "expert," especially those struggling to put a sentence together.

Let's look at this paragraph:

Only a client wooing you will care to know about your passion, so remove that part; it's unnecessary information. It also sounds like you're begging to get hired. An "expert" wouldn't do that.

Make sure you proofread your write-up. I spotted a few too many errors in it. Errors can shatter your chances of landing a well-paying client.

Thank you very much for this...I really appreciate.

Please I'm struggling to get my first job on upwork...I don't know if I'm doing something wrong. My profile is okay and I write good enough proposals. I've sent out many proposals yet not a single invite. I honestly don't know what to do anymore and I don't want to waste my connects.

Okay, I bleeped up, how do I retrace my steps from here? My US phone number is already verified.

I'm a newbie on Upwork, I was only following someone's suggestion.
Upwork frowns at double registration else I would have advise you just start over.

You could try posing as a Nigerian living in the states, and see how that goes. But so many others thing would probably hinder this, like the Tax form US people have to fill

Between the double registration and continuing the lie, I would say risk it with a fresh registration, the US lie won't fly at the end, so many checks prevents that

You're up against some serious competition in your niche. To stand out, especially as a "$0 earner," keep working on your profile and proposal.

1.) Like I said, your profile is good compared to the others I've reviewed here, but it's not great. It needs work done, even now. My profile isn't spectacular either, and I always work on it. Self-presentation is never good enough. Even Expert-vetted freelancers on Upwork tweak their profiles from time to time to stay ahead.

2.) Screenshot the last proposal you sent so that one of the many gurus here can review it for you.

3.) Connects are only useful when spent, so spending them isn't a waste. Wasted connects are the connects that just sit there, unused.

Ditch the defeatist mindset if you want to succeed.

If Dollars
- Get a DOM account from any bank( I use GTB and it works fine)
- Get a payoneer account
- Link payoneer to Upwork
- Link payoneer to your Dom
- You withdraw to payoneer and then to your DOM, then do a withdrawal at your local bank

Thanks for your reply I will do this. The grey is too long and complicated. I should follow the exact steps you outlined in that order right? Dom account first, then payoneer etc

Doc. please whem was the last time you withdrew money from your Payoneer to your GTB Dom acct.? Did GTB charge any extra fee in addition to Payoneer's USD fee?

last withdrawal was exactly a month ago.

Yes they do charge, especially if its huge( like 500+). Its usually about 1 - 2% of the amount and I'm not sure its GTB charging it, I think its the intermediary banks

Sometimes they don't though, for smaller amounts

* You have a good profile maybe the description is wordy but not too bad
* You already a job in progress.

The only advice I will say is to apply for gigs and ensure to apply for ones that match your skill so the client can pick, you also have to have patience too.

I don't buy connections, if people respond it gives 6 connects and it refills monthly , so one has to be tactical about when to apply

Are you applying for Webflow gigs ?

No mostly UX/UI...most times the gigs requires 4-6 connects to apply. I learnt somewhere to always apply early once a job has been posted. Most times I apply to gigs with less than 5 proposals to increase my chances of getting the job but from the look of things it doesn't seem to be working.

All the bosses helping out, I hail oo
For Us Newbie, don't give up, and you have to start somewhere, no magic, you work your way up, don't be discourage, if legit money is easy to get everyone would be rich, it's hard work and consistency, always be transparent in your profile, there is this Naija girl, she started ending 2020, she is on 10k plus now, her Location is Lagos Nigeria and she gets alot of job, just be transparent and make sure you deliver, things will work out. As the bosses in the thread suggests, your profile and proposal is important, don't follow popular template,be unique and stand out, that's something i noticed with the top earners, they don't write unnecessary stories in their profile, they write simple and precise details, so find the right balance, and don't go about copying people, just tap inspiration
Happy weekend.

Yes…

fairytale:

Please jobs like?

Hello,

His post was very clear if you ask me. Whatever job it is, the more intense the requirements, screening process and questions, the lesser the applicants.

Many freelancers just rush to apply. Intentionally or mistakenly ignoring the (trick) questions. Don’t be that freelancer.

I belong to this closed group for freelancers in my niche and recently many people have complained of account bans. Mostly Africans and Asians. The Africans were quick to play the victim card. Claiming Upwork is out to eradicate freelancers from SubSaharan Africa. But further investigations showed they violated Upwork’s T&Cs. The most recent being acting as tools for money launderers. Yes, they launder money via client and freelancer accounts.

- Another interesting thing is the budding romance among freelancers. I would never have guessed people could meet foreign partners via Upwork groups, but one happened o. Normal normal na. Anywhere man and woman dey, things must occur.

- I had an argument with this Asian chick. I wasn’t even referring to her anyway. Just dropped my opinion on the obvious bias against Africans and she took it personal. Started shit-talking Nigeria. I don’t know which of you broke her heart. She seems to be very knowledgeable of Nigeria and Nigerians. She go dey alright… grin

I am not sure of the nationality of the launderers, but the freelancers are Nigerians and more of Kenyas and South Africans.

Y'all doing all those group and shit on Upwork? I never really got a hang of the PITA platform. Seems no matter what I do, I can't really gain ground or get really established on there. It's way easier to get started on Fiverr than on Upwork because Fiverr algorithm kindda supports a new entrant for a period of 2 weeks to one month to help you get a foothold. Plus the UI is user friendlier.
As long as your gig description is good and you're good with the SEO keywords relevant to your niche, you're on your way to excelling on Fiverr.

But that Upwork's shitty*, no matter what I do, it ain't yielding. I was quick to get approved and get my first work on there. I even bought lots of connects when they first started selling and kept bidding, but no way. I guess the 2nd client which I got immediately after the 1st f'ckked up my streak by making an order and not submitting the file to work on. I messaged the mofo like cray, she didn't reply until the order expired. So I just lost interest in the site, since I was doing great on Fiverr already. Even had my hands filled.

I might try it again someday soon though.

Hey bro!
I'm really interested in having you give me more tips on cashing out Payoneer funds via GTB's domiciliary account. Normally I shouldn't need this, but Payoneer disabled Payoneer to Payoneer transfer on my account. I have tried all I could to get them to restore it, but they won't.

I have been really shortchanged over the years using their direct bank deposits, when I should be selling the dollars at black market rates on Binance and paxful for maximum gain.

Can you please list the requirements for opening a dom. account with GTB and how to finally cash out/convert to Naira for maximum gain? If you don't mind, I can DM you for more conversational chatting. Thanks

I don't think you need to DM, this is public information and I'm sure someone else would probably DM to get same info

I would probably be banned for posting the link, but googling the gtb domiciliary account would point you to a link with the requirements.

The requirements are the same for most banks except the initial deposits which is usually $100 for most banks but $0 for GTB. The banks have this information on their websites

From the GTB link(Copied and pasted)

What you’ll need?

Filled and signed Domiciliary Account opening form.

A copy of identification document (Driver's License, International passport, National I.D Card, or any other acceptable by the bank)... I used NIN

One passport photograph.

Two (2) completed reference forms.... Must be filled by current (non-salary) account holders. dormicillary or Naira, doesn't matters so far its current

Utility bill issued within the last 3 months.

Also, the savings domcillary accounts are easier to obtain(GTB doesn't have it) because the reference forms aren't needed and I think they should work fine also with payoneer
They do have some limitations, I think they don't allow direct deposits over the counter(You can't deposit raw dollars into them yourself) and they don't have cards.
You can't visit any bank's website for more information on their dormicillary account offerings
