That club is finally rebuilding properly and they are going to be scary within the next two seasons. Ronaldo at 37 shouldn't be part of that, he is way bigger than a rebuild project and not much time left for him as a professional footballer. His presence will limit the opportunities and freedom of the younger guys despite his unbelievable capabilities. Also, Ronaldo has to be in the champions league. It's as simple as that.

I don't see any issue here. I would have been surprised if he had stayed. Club loyalty is a moot point here, he has been at Sporting, United, Real Madrid and Juventus, and he is still Ronaldo.
