JOSCOFELIX: You are sooo right. You can't just ignore Russia and China when talking about Super Powers. Speaking of super Powers, a few countries are uping their game to become one. I mean countries like France, India, Turkey have been making significant progress. I wish I could say the same for South Korea but they are under the influence of the US. |

Stormtrooper11: NATO imposed an embargo on Iraq for 13 years before the 2003 war , in 13 years they have not received any modern equipment and even had difficulty maintaining their old equipments , a known strategy of NATO sharks to slaughter medium-sized fish without having too many losses. and the Iraqis had to face a laaarge coalition of 38 countries, including several neighboring countries, not to mention the iraqi rebels and ethnic armed groups that worked against the Iraqi army during the invasion so it is not the same thing as in Ukraine 10 Likes |

Stormtrooper11: yes , like the AH-64 D Apache Longbow radar. it's a millimeter wave radar the N-025 Almaz-280 that operates in the Ka-band band and J band , It has a range of about 25 km for a large fixed target such as a bridge, 15 km for a large velicle such as a tactical-ballistic-missile launcher, 10-12 km for an armored fighting vehicle, and 6-8 km for a soft-skin vehicle. Unlike the Longbow radar, the Almaz-280 has both attack and navigation modes . but there is export versions without this radar , for exemple i havn't seen any pic of an iraqi mi 28 with the N-025 Almaz-280 radar on rotor , wait and see if uganda mi 28 have them 4 Likes |

The Russian don't need to use guided bombs since they have the svp-24, a computerized bomb sight. The SVP-24 is said to have the same accuracy as a guided munition. On the economics of things, it is more logical to use unguided bombs that guided since a JDAM can cost more than $15000 a piece while a dumb bomb cost like $2000 to make depending on the country. Plus, the SVP-24 has shown great success in Syria and the Russia is adding it to all of her fighter jets. 5 Likes 1 Share |

Omofaye99: Simply, how many 5th gen F-35 & F-22 Fighter Jets are in active service around the world? Now, compare that to the number of SU-57's in service with the VKS. |

Lurker4Long:We played horrifically!! But at least we won However if I was a betting man I'd put my money on France to win the World Cup..... Unfortunately the Springboks(much like SAn society) get to comfortable and lackadaisical when things are going OK, we don't have any motivation to do better... This is what sets us apart from the ABs who have a mindset that they must win every game like its the last match they will ever play..... The reason we won the 2019 WC was because everybody wrote us of, nobody as in nobody gave us a chance of winning some even said we might lose to Italy again and not even get out of our pool. South Africans thrive when we have a common goal and/or impossible challenge that nobody expects us to conquer we've seen it through our history, boer war, battle of isandlwana, delville wood, Fight against apartheid, hell even the fact that the NPs was able to survive so long against the Anc and international pressure, every ethnicity/tribe in SA have incredible amount of grit and superior discontent IF there is a challenge!!! However when there is no challenge, goal or common enemy we slip back to mediocrity, that's is why we've allowed the ANC to get away with so much the past decade or so, this is why GBV is out of control ect ect, its because we don't have that motivation. 1 Like |

South African Air Force squadron named Korean War 'hero' of the month The veterans ministry has chosen a South African Air Force (SAAF) unit as next month's Korean War hero for its extensive operations in support of the South during the 1950-53 conflict, officials said Thursday. The 2 Squadron SAAF, nicknamed "Flying Cheetahs," conducted a total of 12,067 sorties in key air operations at frontline battle zones from the southeastern port city of Busan to Pyongyang during the first major armed conflict of the Cold War. Led by Lt. Col. Servaas Theron, the squadron cut off enemies' logistics lines and offered close air support for ground troops with 16 F-51 Mustang fighters acquired from the United States, according to the ministry. It successfully destroyed key enemy assets, including 40 tanks, 220 field artillery guns, 147 anti-aircraft guns and about 500 supply depots. During the war, South Africa sent a total of 826 troops. Of them, 36 were killed, and eight were taken prisoner. "Despite the absence of diplomatic ties between South Africa and Korea at the time and the geographical location of the country in the southernmost part of Africa, it sent troops to defend the Republic of Korea," the ministry said in a press release. The two countries forged official diplomatic ties in 1992. (Yonhap) https://m.koreatimes.co/pages/article.asp?newsIdx=331915

NATO got them decieved. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ibdo5msrqbw I really feel sorry for the Ukrainians. They have to go through this critical period because a "so called world power" is using them to destabilize a competition they don't want. Even the Russians are trying their best not to cause any collateral damage, they still take the Ukrainians as their own people. If the confrontation was with the US, the FULL MIGHT of Russia would have been unleashed. 5 Likes |

Lurker4Long: Actually I've noticed the Argies have really upped their game this past decade. I'm not the only one: England are long gone from this World Cup, flushed down the gurgler before the group stages were over. The Pumas roar on, into their second semi-final in three tournaments, playing the sort of open, attacking, liberated rugby that the hosts had once hoped to deliver.https://www.bbc.com/sport/rugby-union/34611387 That was 2015-now they're potential WC winners! 1 Like |

kabe1:sorry sir this your explanation does not determine anything in modern warfare. Each nation have it doctrine. If truly all this defence aircraft determine a lot in the Battlefield Moscow su 35 would not have pursue a USA f22 in Syria it would not have pursue Isreal f 35 in Syria. Stealth coating is an advantage in modern battlefield but does not determine the accuracy of other aircraft. Will all know Moscow build it su 35 against western f 22 and f 35 which have good record in chasing this aircraft. technology in aircraft determine a lot. |

kikuyu1: When Sweden ALMOST became a nuke power! Sweden, which organized its nuclear weapon research program in 1945, began to step back from the nuclear threshold in the mid-1960s and later formalized its nonnuclear status by becoming a signatory to the Nonproliferation Treaty. This case study is part of a larger project on the decisionmaking of states considering procuring or abandoning nuclear weapons.https://www.rand.org/pubs/monograph_reports/MR460.html For some reason they gave up on the idea and upped their defense spending at one being the 3rd highest defense spender per capita after only US/Israel ahead of Russia! They topped at 4% of GDP in the 60s and have been decreasing ever since. The result was world class platforms! The Draken Saab 35 first flew in the 50s,incorporating a design still seen today. The Saab 37 Viggen followed in the late 60s specifically designed for low turn around times, high sortie rate and good STOL ability. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fBE41A9VT3Q A thrust reverser allows for the Viggen to land within five hundred meters, the airframe is designed to touch down without flaring at low speeds to minimize damage to expedient fields and roads. https://nationalinterest.org/blog/buzz/j37-viggen-jet-forgotten-killer-fighter-jet-sweden-84636 Smart design also meant the Viggen could rearm extremely quickly, turnaround times were clocked at under twenty minutes with conscript ground crews, maximizing the rapidity to which the Swedish Air Force could respond to an attack. It was estimated that aircraft could fly upwards of five sorties a day. The Grip still shows the original 60 year old design. These Scandis were good designers-after all they're Germanic. They had a turretless tank which was highly rated. Luckily,Russia never took them on but I suspect they'd have received a bloody nose had they done so.
