Browsing the slot website, and noticed that no Gionee phone was listed. Anyone noticed this too

Slot is better than what it used to be.

Gionee is no longer in Nigeria, Slot will only sell products with Aftersales service.

You mean Maktak,josh,trell and yowhatsapp by Gioneepush?
I suffered until the day I disabled Downloads in Apps-settings.
I only enable it when I want to download from play store,after that disable immediately.

Since then I now get notifications 'downloads failed'and I know they tried to come in but now no way.

Yes,that is when play store tries to warn the user that those apps are trying to come in.I disable it too once the notification comes in.

But since I disable the downloads ,it stopped

You nor know say them dae invade privacy. Download apps without your permission, send text messages, #20 per sms without your permission.

what do you mean by no longer producing phones? Other stores still sell Gionee phones, and there are lots of Gionee phones in the market
