Most of them carry their personal grudges or problems into the operating room.

Dude qualified in Nigeria in 1965. At the time, the only medical school on ground was UI's medical school, and I believe UNN's medical school. ABU did not start it's medical school till 1967, Ife around the same time .Danfodio university was not on ground till the 1970's.

Guy graduated in 1965. To get into a Nigerian university in 1965 was tough. You had to pass O levels very well, then after 2 years, A levels, and medical school was tough then.

Anyone in medical school back then earned it.

Of course doing well as a doctor initially does not mean one is immune from malpractice. Especially as he should have retired ages ago.

MDCN punishes doctors severely for malpractice in this country.

MDCN has a tribunal, which can strip doctors of their licence to practice, or suspend them.

Why I don't rule out "incompetence" as a common occurrence, anyone can die at anytime regardless of whether the procedures were followed strictly to the later. As my consultants would say the medic path is a dangerous path, get one case wrong or make a mistake and you'll pay for it dearly because you're dealing with human lives. Watch your back because no one will watch it for you.

This case is not likely a case of incompetence, common this doc has been doing this procedure for years and none died until it got to this patient, he was just unlucky. Unfortunately, medicine leaves no room for errors.

This is very common in Nigeria. Death by Doctors negligence. Even victims of accidents who needs emergency treatment are rejected by Nigerian Doctors and hospitals insisting there should be a police reports.

He is likely to be a consultant Haematology. Or probably migrated from one of the EU countries to the UK. When the problem arise ,he would not be associated to where he come from , he would be addressed by his ethnic background.

All manner of quacks and nitwits have entered UK as so called doctors . Even those who failed their residency have gone to the UK to claim being a medical professional

The UK's NHS has been built on the backs of foreign doctors and nurses (including Nigerians) for much of its history. It has largely been a success as far as the British people are concerned.
