We know them, the big company dominating the midrange and budget class of smart phones in this country. Every year they dish out new devices accompanied with colourful ads purposefully tailored to appeal to the taste of their customers; they are masters at this, after all they have been here since the very beginning.
You cannot not enter any mobile shop or repair office and find a scarcity of their parts and or devices, they have become so embedded into the very fabric of the Nigerian mobile device network and honestly they do not seem to be leaving anytime soon; their market awareness has given birth to dominance and success, and this success has in turn birthed a sort of monopoly and now ultimately it has conceived a menace.
let me tell you a short story; last week at the office, our manager- who is not the most savvy in tech- complained to me and our software engineer that the infinix Note12i that he test ran dream league 2022 on was lagging terribly, he said and I quote “that phone is rubbish, how can a phone cost so much and be that useless.”
I laughed when I heard this, I was not laughing because of the lag, Instead it was because of the way he had spoken and the consequential meaning of his words- this is what I mean; A non tech savvy customer complaining that his note12i which costs an upwards of 104k (that is some people’s arm, leg and feet if you may) could not run dream league without lag. It was funny...extremely. As a techie however, and I know some of us techies might be thinking right now, the game should not lag- at least when set to medium to high graphics settings. I asked for and checked the graphics settings of the game on the phone- keep in mind, this phone was straight out the box...unused- the graphics was set to very high and 60fps with no force override. The game was lagging seriously, the menu screens took a 2 second delay to navigate. I lowered the graphics and gave it back to him and he went back, smiling to his doings.
I got curious however, this device advertises 90 Hz screen refresh rate, a G85 chip and a not too bad octa core build of SOCs and 4gbs of RAM. So what I did was install the game on my Umi A9 pro and the set it to the highest graphics- this device has 6 GB of RAM, a weaker helio P60 and a decent SOC build. Both devices have decent GPUs though I believe the G52 on the Note is better than the A9s G72 and the Note even has a better ANTUTU score. The game ran well with small dips in frames initially (in other words little lag) and became smooth on the A9 pro when I turned off the data connection. I was puzzled, but decided to end my testing there. (Maybe someone else can do more testing?)
The bottom line is, TRashion is charging too much for too little, our software engineer told me they are cutting costs in production, which is very bad considering the costs of their phones. I got my hands on the Spark 9t three days ago and it had a helio G37 processor! A phone that costs 78k for the 4/64 GB version and 88k for the 128GB! Madness! What are we supposed to do with a G37? Play subway surf? ( no disrespect to subway surfers, it’s a good game anyways- just not power demanding)
TRashion is playing with fire- Nigerian fire to be precise and they will soon get burnt (figuratively speaking o...) let them continue- OPPO, REDMI and VIVO and maybe UMIDIGI (if they can make their parts more readily available) are planning war. hehehe
And just to add as a tease for someone here- the Umidigi A9 pro is the most beautiful phone you will hold in your hands, believe me when I say this, power wise; nothing special, aesthetic wise, it is just beautiful.

Their pricing can sometimes be outrageous as you'll get better value for money on other brands at the same or even lower cost
Though I'm a transsion fan or as you called them "trashion" grin grin I can't spend more than 90k on a transsion phone

I don't think this should be counted as a problem from transsion. This most likely could be that the game has been optimised for the Mali g72 mp3 graphics card in the p60

I doubt that
Games generally are optimised based on GPU class and not individually.
