Division being created.

Despite what the ASUU president said, that the federal government cannot blackmail them with hunger, it's going to happen if this strike lingers for long. Some of The affected lectures would want to go back to the classroom to continue their jobs so that they can be paid.

Divisions and branches of ASUU are going to rebel against their leadership soon because e don choke some lecturers oh
so, it has been a no pay no work parol all the while. Wow! I think I like this struggle. E go soon choke the choker...

You're saying this, because you're not among the striking lecturers grin Topical mind of an African man. Reason why the government always play a fast one on us.. No unity among citizens.. If the government did what they ought to have done, will there be strike in the first place? Government is the problem here, not the striking lecturers. So,they should pay them, even for making them stay out of work..

And who will compensate the students for precious time lost??

They were not working ma'am. It's now they've decided to go back to teaching

Atleast they see reasons to go back to work, unlike some other set that are hell bent on getting the payment platform.
How is their mode of payment fighting for the students for God's sake. It's very clear the fg deliberately left them to see the light.
Even if buhari signs this, the next presidency might not want it, and they will go back to square one.

You seems not to understand how ASUU is structured to function, it's one the union that allows it's members to take decisions on what to do about the strike.

The medical lecturers are usually exceptional as they operate with human life's. Over here in Lagos, I doubt if the medical lecturers will bother as they are busy making money with private clinics.

ASUU had notify it's members to prepare for the strike before it started and created avenue where lecturers can take up loans pending where the govt. will bend to their demands.

ASUU is like a strong cult group and the govt is finding it difficult to bribe some of it's members to ignore the strike

It's a unique opportunity to employ qualified Nigerians
Medical lecturers have usually worked during strikes to help man the teaching hospitals

Sack everyone else and recruit afresh

Nobody.

The students are the pawns used in this game of chess between the FG and ASUU.

No matter what the outcome of the negotiations and strikes are, the students are always the ones who lose.

The government is at fault in everything here. I wonder why the students NANS is relaxed. If they had shut the country with protest, the APC led government, wouldn't have be fooling with them. Since the students are relax, hence the delay of government meeting the demands of the striking lecturers..

No, because strikes affect clinical students in medical school badly.

An average university student is affected by ASUU strike. An average medical student is affected by ASUU, NMA, NARD, JOHESU strikes....to say nothing of SSANU and NASU strikes ...which means that they end up spending longer in school

Hence the strike breaking. It is either that, or six year course will reach ten years...or more.
Stop saying rubbish and defending nonsense. Medical students are only affected by ASUU strike.

I have seen Medical students from UNILORIN not spending up to 6years to finish their MBBS, while the school haven't join ASUU. Even when JOHESU, NARD, NMA had gone on strike during their school year, it does not affect them.

No, just the lecturers that are teaching. Every other Northern lecturer on strike is not being paid.

I expect that if medical lecturers in southern schools were teaching..they would get paid too...
Who are they teaching when school is on strike?
Re: Strike: FG Breaks ASUU’s Rank, To Release Withheld Salaries Of Medical Lecturers by Dannyfan(m): 8:40am On Jul 09, 2022

Not really.

Medical students spend 3 years on campus, and 3 years in hospital..before they graduate. ASUU strikes affect those on campus, as you know. But for medical students...it isn't just ASUU and NASU/SSANU strikes...JOHESU, NARD, and even NMA strikes affect them as well.

So ASUU not going on strike in medical school reduces the burden a bit.
How is JOHESU, NARD affecting medical students?

This is not reasonable

Dannyfan:

Ha....here we go.

1.Medical students...those doing MBBS...spend 3 years on campus, and 3 years in a teaching hospital.

2.A lot of those 3 years in a hospital are spent on the wards, learning clincal and other things

3.And ye need....patients, resident doctors, nurses, pharmacists and so on for the clinical side to work.

4.Now if JOHESU goes on strike....no nurses, no pharmacists....that means no patients in the ward, which means that medical students cannot do clinical training...they go home and wait. It even gets worse if NARD goes on strike...that leaves just the consultants and house officers ...ie skeletal services from doctors...patients go home...and so do students.

And let's not forget NMA...goes on strike....no doctors , no patients....students go home...

Plus, medical consultants in university teaching hopsitals are also lecturers...so ASUU goes on strike...they too leave work...medic studets go home.

So, a medical student in one year has faced NARD, JOHESU, NMA strikes , and is facing his 500 level being delayed, and then ASUU goes on strike...and it is looking like he is going to spend some two extra years in medical school....and he gets tetchy...and the consultants see that....they do not join the strike.

It's hell on earth to be a medical student in Nigeria....that's why sometimes our lecturers have pity on us and don't join ASUU strike.

Who are they teaching when school is on strike?

Clinical medical students.

The idea is so that they don't end up having preclinical students wait for over a year to start clinicals because of strike.

Yes, because UNILORIN is not in ASUU...so they can do as they please...plus they are still affected by JOHESU and company..so some delays.

If they were in ASUU...there would have been issues.

(I even back ASUU's demands...so I am not opposing them....I am just offering an explanation).

UNILORIN is even a bad example to use.

MDCAN and ASUU are not in good terms, so this news is not surprising

Besides MDCAN in the North, i doubt if they have their own PP, so they don't have multiple sources of income unlike those in the South especially the South East. Those in the South East are balling, so i doubt if they will join their mates in the North

This is just like the NARD strike were those in the North wanted it to be called so, while those in the South wanted it to continue

Your second paragraph is funny at best.
Have you been to Kano, Maiduguri, plateau or kaduna before?
No state in the South East can be compared to any of those states when it comes to pp.

I wish i can actually understand what is going on here and what i smell that is coming. But i will chill and observe. Isn't that a division among this ASUU already? How can you pay some and leave some? This people better know what they are doing, because there is enough damage already to the students and the Education system.
