Because of the peculiarity of the North, Tinubu has a narrow choice of a running mate as against his counterpart in the PDP. What do you think may likely be the implication of a Muslim-Muslim ticket for the party?

I think we have to be realistic particularly we Yoruba of the Southwest because the current candidate of APC is a Yoruba man and the social dialogue in this nation is largely controlled by the Yoruba. We are fighting for a Southern president who will represent the interest of the South and principally the interest of Nigeria. But a Southern candidate will not automatically become the President unless he is able to poll enough vote to emerge as the President. That means we have to make the necessary sacrifices for him to win which is higher than the discontent about religious imbalance. Common sense dictate that we
should be realistic and practical. If our chance of winning is increased substantially by getting a good Muslim to work with a Southern presidential candidate, I think common sense dictates that we appreciate the situation instead of fighting it. If we fight it and at the end of it all we don’t get a Southern president, all the efforts and the struggle will come to nought. When you are not practical and realistic, what
you get is regret.

To that extent, are you expecting a situation where all eligible voters will shun both party and religious affiliations to queue behind the candidate of the APC?

Some will, some won’t. In my view, APC should not depend on that possibility. I believe APC should depend on itself and ask itself what strategy it needs to put together in order to win the election. You must realize that APC as at today is the party for the Southern part of the country based on the desire for a Southern president. In order to win, it has to be a combination of the Yoruba of the Southwest and the Fulani/Hausa of the North. Now, we have a bloc in the Southwest that is likely to support the candidate of APC. But we do not have a bloc in the North to support anybody. To that extent, we have an advantage. But if we do not carefully and practically make a decision that is favourable to our chance of winning by disregarding this albatross of religious tension, we may then find out that we have a bloc vote in the North that will work against our interest. In other words, we must be careful not to allow the PDP that has a Northern candidate to gain the advantage
of religion over the Southern candidate. What I am in essence saying is that before we reject Muslim-Muslim ticket, we must first of all ask ourselves: Is our chance of winning presidency for the South enhanced by a Muslim/Christian ticket or reduced by it? For me, what is practically important is the number of voters. I will say that South should think deeply and be realistic in whatever decision they make.

For these urchins, it is about winning and not working. They have no plans when they get there.

This is why it is surprising that youths who own the future are considering an 80 year old man who won't see the future to rule them. They are focused on tribe and religion more than Competence.

Nigeria deserves Nigerians. It is a match made in heaven really. This election cycle will be the last time the best candidate will come out for votes. The world is watching. They will use our choices in 2023 to know who we really are. We will lose all rights to complain and cry about bad governance once we choose wrongly in 2023.

Peter Should fight the good fight , but keep in mind that majority of Nigerians are not worth fighting for.

If you have the means, leave this nation. Most especially if you are Igbo or a progressive of all tribes.

They dont care of the differences which should be our strenght

They don't care aboout bringing everyone along wether Christians or Muslims. They just care about winning elections based on inequality.

No competence, no pity for the suffering Masses ,Christians and Muslims alike.

All they care about is to make the religious difference wider and divide the people further in order to win elections .

I completely agree with the submission of Tunji Abayomi. Emphasis should be on getting competent administrators from the south and north irrespective of religious affiliation. What i see is a South/North ticket and nothing else.

Tell Tinubu to choose Elrufai make him (Elrufai) explain to Nigerians why we should allow him near the presidency after he shunned religious sentiments in Kaduna and ran a Muslim-Muslim ticket and has influenced his party to repeat it in his state in the 2023 elections. Also, he’d have to explain to Nigerians why the killings in Southern Kaduna has gone on without consequences for perpetrators.

Or ask Tinubu to choose Shettima so that he would tell Nigerians the truth about what happened in Chibok.

Ndi ala!

Either you like it or not everyone knows his /her candidate come 2023 . Shun politics of hatred, envy, jealous and bitterness am talking to all internet bandits and terrorist who want to kill their selves because they don’t want to see opposition, what then is the beauty of democracy? . Better face your life and engage in meaningful and fruitful things , if you have a preferred candidate campaign and canvass vote for your candidate

Dr Tunji Abayomi is just being too clever by half as usual. Tinubu's aspiration is not a Southern project like he has pretentiously tried hard to portray. And ordinarily, I don't care about a Muslim-Muslim ticket or otherwise or any other petty sentiment, if it were not for his and his supporters too clever by half attitude like this one here.

Less thinking Christians. I think winning comes first before Tinubu can be beneficial to them? If he won’t win what good is it going to be for them? They don’t even consider competence, strong will and in-depth understanding of the job to be done.
Who is that Christian candidate that can win the the ticket for/with Tinubu?
Christians are very insensitive. So they don’t know Tinubu as a liberal person right? Tinubu is not a preacher and advertiser of any religion. He’s a free man. The north doesn’t consider him as a Muslim already being a Yoruba Muslim. Worst of all, his wife is a pastor in a redeemed church. He doesn’t have two wives as of now. He revered his wife very much. Hasn’t that filled the gap for Christians already?
If Tinubu tries Christian vice. He should just kiss the presidency bye bye even before the election. This is a gross mistake the opposition party is waiting for.
Same weak and hypocritical Christians are the ones distributing meals to the Muslims during the Muslim festive just yesterday. What has changed? Were they not preaching that we are one?
Asiwaju should call the CAN president, and dialogue with that spoiler.

Osinbajo is vice running to 8 years and we have had the worst insecurity, economic bastardization and ineffectiveness of the government in his era since democracy started in 1999. Christians should go and sit in one place.

If it's about competence irrespective of region or religious affiliation, then rotation of the presidency between the North and South is not needed, a Muslim Muslim, Christian Christian, North North, south South President should be accepted, what tunji abayomi emphasis on is not about southern presidency but about APC wining election that's all

It's about everything. There must be balance. If the Christians allow this now, I'm afraid it may become a norm. This is how the Igbos became a second class citizens in their own country because they compromised when they shouldn't. I will not vote Muslim Muslim ticket unless there is solid counter balance.

Yoruba moslem hates yoruba Christians.

Tinubu since 2007 when he left the government hasn’t contested any post? Who’s the most ambitious man between Tinubu and Atiku? So, you are saying that CHRISTIANS are inferior abd irrelevant in Tinubu's APC, the same thing Buhari never dared. We are NOT interested in any jaundiced Southern candidate. Why did he not chose a Christian-Christian ticket in Lagos.

Cursed be upon any CHRISTIAN who collects money like Judas Iscariot to vote Muslim-Muslim ticket. Such Christian will die like Judas died aling with his/her generation, even to the fourth generation.

Very good leave sentiment and petty things, so why is tunji talking about, we are fighting for a southern president? No one should talk about southern president or rotation, cause it's about everyones ambition to be President, that's the point , atikus ambition should be as much important to him and his northern brothers just as tinubu's ambition is important to him and his brothers

Have anyone noticed that it's only Yoruba moslems that are coming on national TV to tell us nothing is wrong with Moslem-Moslem ticket.

The same Yoruba Moslems went to supreme Court just for hijab. The same people crucified Fayose and Even APC's Fayemi for having more Christian commissioners.

This same people also said they will not vote for Yoruba Christians for president, now they want Yoruba Christians to not only for a moslem president, but a Moslem-Moslem ticket.
