APPLAUSE AS SOLUDO BRINGS THE WORLD TO ANAMBRA AND TAKES ANAMBRA TO THE WORLD.

There's no stopping a focused and resolved government. The governor of Anambra state, Chukwuma Soludo is one; and resoundly so. His resolve for a better Anambra typifies his every move, posture and utterances that it is evidently clear that his manifesto is not merely a campaign document but a CONTRACT he signed with ndi-Anambra and chosen to uphold same. He has shown he is committed to undertake the transformation of the state and ensure impactful leadership. Under his watch, Anambra Brand is ready to compete globally.

Early in his administration, Governor Soludo re-assured ndi-Anambra and its residents that his government will globalise Anambra brand by bringing the world to Anambra and taking Anambra to the world. When he made this statement, some people went to town in doubt. But those who knew him never doubted his words, will and ability. We are aware of his courage which is one of his numerous virtue. We were aware of his past undertakings, including taking tough and realistic decisions, moreso working very hard to have his convictions effectively and efficiently implemented.

Governor Soludo’s plan in globalizing Anambra is an audacious one. He is already providing leadership in mobilizing critical stakeholders to deliver on the agenda and, this have seen him brought the entire world to Anambra state on Saturday, July 9, 2022 to understudy the state.

The members of the International Community, comprising the Diplomatic corps and Foreign Development Partners were in Anambra on Saturday, July 9, on a one day working visit. It was the first in a long time. We are confident that their visit would signpost, amongst other things, the begining of strategic partnerships that will improve the living conditions of ndi-Anambra, especially hundreds of thousands of people trapped in Okpoko, and other adjoining slums in the State. Moreso, it is expected that the visit will help open-up the state to investments and unlock her deep-lying potentials.

THE DELEGATION LIST INCLUDES THE FOLLOWING:

1- H.E HC Catriona Laing CB; British High Commission: High Commissioner.

2- Mr Martin Huth; Embassy of Germany: Charge of Affairs.

THE VISIT OF HIS LORDSHIP, BISHOP KELVIN CARL RHOADES, THE BISHOP OF FORT WAYNE, USA, TO BUBENDORFF MEMORIAL GRAMMAR SCHOOL, ADAZI NNUKWU, ANAMBRA STATE, NIGERIA.

Yesterday, 11th July, 2022 was another big day for us, a very remarkable one. The whole place was agog with anticipation for the Bishop. Bishop Kelvin Carl Rhoades arrived at the school at exactly 4:45 pm, in the company of his Lordship, Bishop Jonas Benson Okoye (Catholic Bishop of Nnewi Diocese) and Rev. Fr. Chike.

The mass began at exactly 6:00pm. The chief celebrant was Bishop Kelvin Carl Rhoades while the concelebrants were; Bishop Jonas Benson Okoye, Rev. Fr. Theodore Ekwem (Manager of the School), Rev. Fr. Hillary Okwunalu (Co-Manager of the school) and Rev. Fr. Chike.

The chief celebrant delivered the homily, with emphasis on the universality of the Catholic Church which binds us all as one and on the life of St Benedict.

After the reception of the Holy Communion, the visiting Bishop asked a most intriguing question. He wanted to know the meaning of the “Isi-agu” uniform which was the uniform all the students were putting on for the mass. Akalugo Chigozie MarkAnthony, one of the students, answered that the shirt reminds the Igbo man of his strength and courage and pointed out how the Igbos rose up from their trampling’s during the civil war to become prosperous and this they did with strength that can be likened only to that of a lion. The Bishop was thrilled with his response and suggested he apply for admission to study in a university in His diocese, Notre Dame University, Fort Wayne, USA.

The school journalist presented a brief history and biography of the Bishop to the students, after which the Senior Prefect, Adama Kenneth alongside, with the school artists, Chukwumalume Chidera and Okechukwu Chinonso, presented a hand drawn image of Bishop Kelvin Rhoades.

The mass ended around 7:50pm after which photographs were taken.

The school has played host to two cardinals and several Bishops. The question still remains, “will Bubendorff one day host the Pope”?

Soludo is on a mission to sell human beings. The nigerian state has identified Anambra as malleable and he is doing a job. If you expect anything near development from this man, you are in for a ride.

Imo state that is completely useless and equals to nothing you won't see that but always hovering here.

I think Anambra is overwhelmed because it doesn't have a modern city.

But because Uzodimma is a fool, Soludo cannot be a fool, or because Soludo is a fool Uzodimma is a saint? lol. What if they are both woeful disappointments. Do you think somebody from Imo will sit here and defend failure because his mama is from a geographical expression called Imo.

In this thread beg Jesus Christ to governor your next 4 years the way Soludo will governor Anambra in the next 4 years if you are sure.

Anambra international airport is next. The owner of Air peace is an Anambra son.

Today, Air Peace deepened bilateral ties between Nigeria and China, with the operation of our inaugural flight to Guangzhou from the Lagos Airport.

We're very familiar with this airspace as we've successfully operated several evacuation/special flights to China.

We're excited. The Chinese community is happy. This isn't just a launch of flights; it represents something bigger.

The protest at the highway by tricycle riders shouldn’t be overlooked by the govt. the govt should order a shoot at sight at those roadside urchins disturbing legit hustlers. And to those ediots and relations of touts asking which job will they do if they stop touts from harassing commuters may thunder fire u pple wherever u are.

You will just be on the net surfing and boom an unpleasant news about touts and their activities will just surface. Soludo should deal with this menace with stiffer penalties. Touting gives a very bad image of Anambra. Shoot at sight to all touts and their top guys arrested. Anambra says no to touts.

N25, 000 MONTHLY DIGITIZED RATE FOR SHUTTLE BUS OPERATORS IN ANAMBRA STATE

Recently the government of Anambra State under Governor Charles Soludo approved a new rate for transport sectors in the State. According to the new rate, Okada operators pay N300 daily at N7, 500 monthly, N21, 000 with a discount of N1,500 for one quarter or N40, 500 with a discount of N4, 500 for half a year. Keke riders pay N600 daily at the cost of N15,000 monthly, or N42,000 with a discount of N3, 000 for one quarter or N81, 000 with a discount of N9, 000 for half a year

Shuttle/Buses' daily pay is N1,000 at the rate of N25, 000 monthly or N70,000 with a discount of N5, 000 for one quarter or N135, 000 with a discount of N15, 000 for half a year. The daily rate for Taxi riders is N700 or N17, 500 for one month. N49,000 quarterly with a discount of N3,500 while N94, 500 with a discount of N11, 000 is for half a year.

The rate of N1, 200 daily is for Township Bus operators at the cost of N30,000 for one month, N84,000 with a discount of N6,000 for one quarter and N162, and 000 with a discount of N18,000 for half a year. Pick up Van daily fee is N1, 000 at the cost of N25,000 for one month, N70,000 with a discount of N5,000 for one quarter and N135, and 000 with a discount of N15,000 for half a year.

The new rate was arrived at after a series of meetings and consultations with the union members at Awka. The aim is to bring lasting solutions to problems encountered by members of this sector from touts (agberos) and illegal revenue collectors in the State.

Before Governor Soludo’s intervention, the operators in this sector spent so much on touts and illegal tax collectors leaving the government with peanuts. The amount they paid on daily basis to ‘agberos’ and illegal tax collectors was double the sum to be paid digitally to the government from now. To put a final stop to this, the government made all government-owned parks free of any charge to all those that were complying with the government directive. Aside from making the parks free of charge, the government further reduced the cost they pay daily and put more money in the hands of the operators. The Government also agreed with the operators to give them 5% of the total collections to be paid to the unions to ensure that no other levies were to be borne by the operators.

The era of multiple levies, roadblocks and personal enrichment by several interest parties has ended. The Government does not wish to fold its hands and allow the 'agberos' and illegal revenue collectors to take over Anambra State. According to the Chairman/Chief Executive, Anambra State Internal Revenue Service, Mr Richard Nwora Madiebo ‘any levies and taxes to be collected by the government must be done digitally and an electronic receipt which could be verified issued. During the enforcement, it would be done using the electronic sticker’. The sticker, he explained will have a quick response which would be verified using Unstructured Supplementary Service Data (USSD). He said that this way, these acknowledgements cannot be cloned.

No government will wish its citizens to be skinned alive, molested and intimidated by anybody. Everybody was aware of the menace of the touts before now in the State. I do not know if there is anyone who has not seen or had an encounter with the ‘agberos’. I had a nasty experience with them, some years back.

The government is committed to ensuring that ALL REVENUES ACCRUABLE to the State are paid into State Account *DIGITALLY* to enable it to work and deliver the dividends of good governance. The era of Windows and third parties with their multiple layers of collections wherein the government was receiving only a paltry portion of total collected revenue (with the rest collected by ‘Agberos’ and other illegal collectors) is gone and this Administration is determined to ensure a viable and prosperous State. Obey the directive, pay the right fee to the government in the approved way and then pick up the passengers without intimidation, harassment and extortion from anybody. God bless the Government of the day thus far. N25, 000 a month for shuttle bus operators is better than the daily extortion and headache from the ‘agberos’ and illegal revenue collectors.

The Chairman, Mr Madiebo urged Ndi Anambra ‘to partner with the State government to ensure we grow our revenue and pay to the government rather than to special interests. That is the way we should work to make our State grow. Ndi Anambra from all sectors, let us together build the Anambra State of our dream.

To report any cases of disturbance, harassment etc, kindly call the following numbers:

09076237441 09168041120 08093175528
08124153139

DO NOT PAY TO ANYONE BUT TO THE BANKS OR THEIR DESIGNATED AGENTS, INSIST ON YOUR ELECTRONIC RECEIPT. BE A GOOD CITIZEN AND HELP ANAMBRA STATE TO GROW.

I think Ebonyi and Abia states should start preparing for influx.

Most Nigerians don’t like to pay tax and they’re always the loudest when complaining of a failed state and absence of good infrastructure.

While the govt of Anambra is building the tax system...the govt should also open up every existing vacancies in the state civil service...those who are due for retirement should be retired with immediate action. Youths of Anambra need jobs..both the formal and informal sectors should benefit every Anambra indigene who are in their productive years.

Wish our indigenous Nigerian civil engineers and contractors could emulate JB in paying attention to detail and finishing their projects nicely to look appealing to the eye! See how they took time to grass the sides of the raised portions of the road.

The bridge kinda reminds me of 3rd mainland bridge in Lagos.

Also, they'd have to relocate the position of the river port before both bridges (northbound), that's if and when they get serious about making it a functional and thriving port.

I think the state gov't should also invest in an armed rapid-response-unit (RRU) so calls to those numbers provided could be answered quickly and effectively. These units should be located near all busy markets and motorparks in the state, and the officers should be well renumerated so they don't succumb to being financially induced by these thieving touts and their bosses who probably have been at this agbero game since the end of the civil war in 1970! Most iniquities Nigerians now see as commomplace commenced after the war in 1970....that's when values and morals dropped and this insane pursuit of money at any cost began!

Yearly targets should be set for the revenue collection body (which should include the RRU), so they get a small percentage bonus of the final amount when targets are met.

*Anambra State Government have not made any incremental changes to the normal tax rate for traders*

Anambra State Ministry of Commerce and Industry hereby states categorically that the State Government have not made any form of increment to the taxes paid by traders annually.

Traders in Government markets pay #12,200 which is the normal rate while those in private markets pay #7,400.

*Breakdown of revenue collections*

*Government owned markets:*
Stallage fees .................#4,800
Development levy..........#2000
Sanitation levy................#2400
Traders tax .....................#3000
*Total.* ............................... *#12,200*

*Privately Owned markets:*
Development levy ..............#2000
Sanitation levy ......................#2400
Traders tax .............................#3000
*Total* ....................................... *#7400*

The #2000 that is collected from each trader is for biometric market enumeration and registration which covers trader's personal tax identification card (1300) and sticker (700) for each shop. This is a one off payment for both the sticker and identification card which enables tax enforcers to digitally ascertain the payment status of each trader by simply scanning its code with a device.

It is to enable government keep track of defaulters without resorting to crude options.

The Ministry therefore encourages Ndi Anambra to continue to be law abiding, to disregard fake news and information peddled around by mischief makers and enemies of our dear state.

ANAMBRA:
Though one of the largest commercial nerve center in Nigeria, Anambra has one of the lowest IGR generation.

Considering that we are in for a none oil economy, there is need to improve on our IGR generation to enable govt deliver on their services and promises to the people.

Delta, Ondo, Oyo, Akwa Ibom rates higher than Anambra in the last year 2021 IGR rating. Major issues is not actually that people are not paying taxes. No! The problem is that then taxes being paid are going to wrong hands.

The Governor Chukwuma Charles Chukwuma Soludo govt is aimed at ensuring blockage of IGR leakages to individuals pockets by ensuring payment made going forward should go directly to govt account. This is a very drastic movement that wouldn’t go down well with those illegal beneficiaries (Agberos and their sponsors).

Our findings shows that normal Keke operators coughs out more than N2,500.00 daily to none state actors (Agberos) with very little going into govt purse. Govt have engaged the operator’s unions and the keke operators directly with aim to ensure seamless communication of the new taxing system.

It is however unfortunate that the same people engaged, given all detailed information and explanations are protesting?? What are they protesting? To retain the old system? To continue paying to wrong hands? To continue ripping the state?? What exactly were they protesting

Well, the truth is that no changes comes easily but Ndi Anambra should know the truth, stand with the governor to defend the truth for the progress of our beloved state.

Our governor Charlie Nwa Mgbafor has started the Disruptive Changes he promised and such change must step on toes to succeed effectively.

Solution Is Here!

Apt. Govt can’t be taxing people without jobs. Recruitment in Anambra is something that happens once in a blue moon. Soludo should recruit job seekers and those who have reached retirement age should be made to retire. When govt gives jobs the taxes won’t be felt. No jobs,no tax.

Anambra Int’l Airport: We’re engaging France, Germany, others to commence operation — Commissioner

International flight may commence before the end of this year at the Anambra International Airport as the Anambra State Commissioner for Transport, Mrs. Patricia Igwebuike, in this interview with Prince Okafor, disclosed that discussions are ongoing with some airlines in France, Germany and United States to commence operations.

The domestic passenger airlines are flying through Anambra State at the moment, Air Peace, and United Airline are the only companies moving their aircraft through the state. The airport is located at Umuleri, has the second-longest runway in Nigeria, about 4km. The airport is located in a strategic position which is close to Onitsha and Awka, the state capital.

According to available report, from Anambra to Miami is just eight hours, so we are engaging with them to find out ways we can make it possible for airlines to carry passengers from Anambra to Miami directly.

Commerce is our second name, and we are always open for business. We are ready to build relationships and interface with our contemporaries around the world. We are also looking for partners from airports around the world. We are new, and the advantage of being new is that we get to do things in line with international best practices.

We are ready to use that level of standard. We are looking for investors and experts that will assist us in capacity-building. Also, we want to grow our revenue base.

Currently, we have just two airlines operating in the state. We are discussing with other airlines, including international airlines, and we are doing things systematically and learning from those who are already in the system.

We do not believe in reinventing the wheel. We have engaged with some companies in France, Munich, and now we are engaging the Maimi Dade County. We will seek a partnership or some sort of collaboration. We are going to acquire all the necessary footprints to make ourselves known

Anambra Airport is built as an international cargo and passenger airport and we are still growing. We have generated revenue from the airport for the government of the state.

It is very promising from the way we are going and when we grow it the way we want to grow it, both the commercial arm and others, it will be self-sustaining. That is where we are going.

Good news about the airport. The state gpv't could also see if it's possible to persuade some countries like Uk, US, China, UAE, etc, to open consulate offices in Awka where visa applications can be processed or accepted for onward transmission to Lagos or Abuja for processing! This would compliment international operations at the airport nicely and help drive traffic.

The airport needs another terminal building if it's going to serve int'l as well as local routes. This could be private sector driven.

I'll keep the champagne on ice until i see the first plane take off from Umueri airport for a int'l destination or see one arrive! This is Nigeria......we all know what that means!
