Nairobi Ranked Among 50 Greatest Cities Due to Expressway

Nairobi has been named among the world's 50 greatest places of 2022 in a new ranking by TIME Magazine.

In the ranking, TIME noted that the Expressway was among the major reasons why Nairobi made it to the list due to the advantage it has brought in solving the traffic jam crisis in the east African city.

The publication noted that Nairobi offers a variety of outstanding sites and treats that visitors may enjoy. Moving away from the usual Safari that Kenya is popularly known for, TIME noted that the capital offered art and cultural experiences that newbies would enjoy.

"The brand-new Nairobi Expressway, the $650 million (Ksh76 billion) project, provides a long-overdue reprieve from congestion in the centre of the city, so residents and visitors can access it more easily and quickly than ever before," the magazine noted.

"And although tourists may have previously opted to make a beeline into the bush, today Nairobi is offering visitors plenty of reasons to keep inside the capital. The Nairobi Contemporary Art Institute (NCAI) just celebrated its opening with an exhibit showcasing Nairobian artist Sane Wadu."

"In the food scene, a synthesis of global inspiration is heating up. Cultiva Farm Kenya is an exceptional example, where Ecuadorian restaurateur Ariel Moscardi renders East African ingredients and flavours with South American techniques."

Kenya is among Africa's fastest-growing economies and a number of international start-ups and businesses have planted their roots in Nairobi, this has also expedited the growth of education with companies giving back to the local communities through CSRs.

No offense but this flyover hasn’t solved shiit. I doubt up to 15 passengers commute that flyover daily. Nairobians still prefer to die in a 5hrs traffic than pay that token and reduce travel time to 15mins. I wonder how you gon’ break even with all that debt attached to this project.

Actually the current concern is accidents not the number of users because Nairobians are literally flying on the expressway. Motorists are doing 300k/hr in a 110k zone. On average a minimum of 31,000 vehicles use it daily and there's still 27 years to repay so thats little worry. It wasnt meant for the average joe unfortunately. Thats why its a toll road. But the average joe still benefits with the reduced traffic as some of it is on top.

The Kenyan capital of Nairobi & the Rwandan capital of Kigali are TIME's urban picks from Africa.

South Africa's Franschhoek, known for its wineries

Zambia's Lower Zambezi National Parkare also recommended.

Zimbabwe's Hwange National Park is
the final selection from the continent.

Yes the coast is slipping away. I have seen Raila rallies in Mombasa today, Kwale and Taita Taveta - very low key. It's really difficult time for any incumbent candidate to campaign (self-inflected destruction by Raila) - economic situation worldwide- is hurting people. Looking at the opinion polls - and taking them at their highest - they remind of 2010 referendum - where undecided voters remain very high - till election week. Come election day - the Nos did very well - scoring 32% against project 20% - because like now (Ruto folks are mostly unwashed poor hustlers) - the Nos where mostly poor christian fundamentalist- while the Yes were mainstream - shied away. So generally prepare for "shocking" margins of defeat of Raila.

My predictive model looks like this.

Total Registered votes 22.1M
National Avg Turn out 73% - down from 78% in 2017
Expected Total Votes 16.3M
Ruto win 54% of 8.7M
Raila second 44% of 7.2M
Waja & Mwaura score 1% of 231K.

GOV SEN WOW MPS
UDA 24 26 26 148
ODM 7 11 9 43
JUBILEE 2 2 1 25
WIPER 4 3 5 25
UDM 4 3 2 12
ANC 2 0 1 12
FORDK 2 1 1 12
DAP 1 0 0 6
KPU 1 0 0 6 1
OTHER 0 1 2 1
TOTAL 47 47 47 290

Both sides right now are trying to see who can outrig or sabotage the election. Uhuru knows it's gone but he is not going down without a fight. The political risk therefore of a 2007 kind of meltdown is very high. But given their defeat is overwhelming....my numbers I suspect are about 2-3% underrating Ruto victory - that are disguised now as undecided voters - they will fold their camp. But again expect all kind of shenagians and prepare yourself accordingly.

I agree but imo turnout will be a little higher. Wanjohi tried to make a Ross Perot out of Wajackoyah but failed. Clinton won, or rather Bush Sr lost cause the Texas billionaire drained his votes.
Ofc, it's NOT a unanimous agreement but still...

AUSTIN, Texas -- It's been written and said more times than anyone can count that H. Ross Perot cost George H.W. Bush the 1992 Presidential Election.

Perot took 19% of vote
Clinton won with 43% of vote

Anyway Waja is more of an entertainer than a contender.

Yes Wajackoyah is definitely gov project. After Dr Nancy Gitau bailed out Uhuru is now depending on the snake oil salesman Dr Mutahi Ngunyi with his crazy ideas. Expect very crazy desperate moves. Mutahi capable of suggesting anything to a scared lameduck who knows Ruto first business is to liquidate their empire.

Son,
Geothermal isn't as cheap as hydro. For them to export their electricity, they need to produce a very cheap form of electricity which I believe they can't since Ethiopia has that big hydro dam and no one will leave a cheap power from Ethiopia and go buy a highly expensive geothermal

S.A. don't get power from DRC

I think DRC or Congo new to supply South Africa with electricity I am not sure about now also Kenya can always send his electricity electricity is like gold especially for countries like Nigeria which are in darkness and I know some other it African countries also need electricity. Electricity is never a waste

Big nations like TZ are busy on big big stuff. Currently we are busy finalising discussions on LNG $40b plant. Besides that, we are about to announce a huge oil discoveries in eyasi wembere basin.I can't mention big investments in manufacturing sectors. I don't wanna mention the longest electrified stuff in africa which we are constructing

We will be behind Egypt once we start LNG

I just wish the price of lng does not come crashing down. At the moment three of your neighbours Zambia Mozambique Zimbabwe are doing massive lng projects also. I just said this week that Rwanda wants to start something

Geothermal is cheaper, it's renewable. Hydropower is from the past, expensive and dangerous.

Hydropower is coming to an end because of climate change look at a country like Nigeria when most of the reservoirs in the northern part are empty by 60%. Whoever is thinking of building a dam with climate change does not know what he is doing.
Geothermal the drilling is expensive but the energy is 24/7 free. The only thing you have to worry about is maintaining steam turbine. I think all the countries in East Africa on the reef belt must go for geothermal

Here is the correlation.... You lost 70% of your wildlife since banning hunting, ours grew by over 12000% in the same time since we actively started premoting hunting.... How is that for correlation.. cool

You think its a coincidence that the two most popular hunting destinations(SA and Namibia) have more game animals than the entire Africa combined?
