Hello. Please I am looking to move to ottawa next month do you have any idea if there’s a WhatsApp group for Nigerians living in ottawa? Or for those that recently migrated there?! I would like to ask few questions or if there’s anyone that answer the questions that I have that would be great. Thank you Ellajingi: |

Greetings to all. I would like to begin the process of getting my Canadian driver's license. How do I go about processing this? I have two years of driving experience from Nigeria, and I heard I'd need to get a letter or report. Thank you. At the moment, I live in London, Ontario. |

Good day lovely people. All protocols duly observed ooo. Please does anyone have an idea if the Unilag HRDC diploma in French proficiency would have a positive evaluation. It’s a 9 month program which I’m considering. Waiting for a prompt reply. Thanks. |

Dear Seniors, Please i need your advice and guidance on how easy/fast it is to get passport renewed in Canada. I am due to start my 1 year program in September at UNB Saint John. However, my passport will expire 1st week of february 2023 hence my Visa expiry date is tied to it. I want to ask if i can start the online renewal process before I leave Nigeria so I can get an appointment once I resume or I should wait till I get there before starting the process. Also, how easily can one got to Ottawa from Saint John? Many thanks. |

Speaking of passport, does anyone know what the heck is going on. I recently checked the Nigerian embassy website to check the renewal process as my passport in expiring later this year. What started as an exploratory exercise quickly turned into a depressing adventure as there are people who went for biometric capture in February/March still waiting for their passport and the constant retort from the embassy official that there are no booklets. It's a woeful tale of lamentations and it's scary. Also, the ambassador promised back in February that the 10-year validity passport will rolled out soon and there is no word on that yet. No surprise there knowing how Nigeria rolls. Finally, does anyone know the stipulations about flying into Nigeria with an expired Nigerian passport but with a valid Canadian one? |
Re: Living In Canada/Life As A Canadian Immigrant Part 2 by maziude: 5:02pm On Jul 15, 2022 |
Santino1: That passport issue has been an ongoing crisis. With respect to your question: You can get an emergency travel document of some sort from the embassy that can allow you travel to Nigeria without a visa(the document together with Canadian passport should be enough - according to Aregbesola and Abike). See this link https://nigeriahcottawa.ca/emergency-travel-certificates/ Or you can apply for naija visa. |
Re: Living In Canada/Life As A Canadian Immigrant Part 2 by CountVersailles(f): 5:31pm On Jul 15, 2022 |
Santino1:It has been a plain disaster at the embassy regarding passports. Having captured in March, I'm also still waiting from my passport and I've heard nothing positive from the embassy. If you know that your passport is expiring soon, you are better off applying for renewal right at this moment, or obtaining a new passport while you are in Nigeria. Don't even bother relying on the Ottawa embassy at any point, if you don't want to be grossly disappointed. |

Santino1:Get a visa on the Canadian passport , and sort your Nogeria P out in Nigeria .. In Swiss it's an easy ride to get but in Germany it's war , the officials of the Nigeria Embassy act like they're still in Nigeria .. |
