Congrats.

Nawaoo! Inflation has dealt with Nigerians badly. I bought same car in Apapa, Lagos N1.7million in May 2018. The fuel consumption is amazing. I filled the car tank once & i drove with my In-law to PH.

My advise
1. Service the car regularly with the right & original engine oil (at most once in 2months).

2. If the car plugs are CARRY-COME, pls, don't change it. It is meant to last longer.

3. Replace the A/C filter if you notice a reduction in the rate of cooling. Use a good a/c mechanic.

4. On no occasion should you allow fuel to finish in the car before you buy new one. Always target full tank to reduce fuel consumption.

5. Avoid heavy or overload in order not to damage the car chassis.

6. To preserve the colour of the car, pls, don't use detergent to wash the car. Buy morning fresh.

Toyota Corolla is a sweet car. It doesn't give problem at all

I can relate, same thing happened to me last year same jiji. A guy gave me an Es350 2008 for 3.6 million in Lagos, I travelled from the east to Lagos by road, when I got to Lagos I slept at apapa and told the guy I was in town, the next day I saw this guy just to discover the guy doesn’t have a carstand anywhere in Berger and just taking me round bargaining for me. I was mad and this guy just kept saying sorry.I was really fustrated. One of the car dealers told me in confidence that I won’t get that car less than 4.3 million, and that time it was way above my budget, to cut the long story short I bought Toyota Camry 2010 model for 3.7 million and left Lagos that same day by 2pm.. Arrived owerri by 10pm. That was risky with an unregistered vehicle. The Camry is 1 year plus and am still grateful I bought that car. No stress just servicing with Elizade at due time.
U are a fast driver, left Lagos at 2pm and arrive at 10pm in owerri.

All I see in your post is a mere jealousy. As for the pictures of the car, that place is not PH. That is a village in Ogoni land. I went for a friend's wedding there so I took pictures of the car. I live in PHC an environment cleaner than Lekki.

Yeah! Cleaner than Lekki. A proud Pitakua.

Well he has a really shitty taste if that low end corrola is his dream car and for all the stress and dangers he put himself through to get it, I still say : it wasn't worth it.

Yahoo boys go broke by the hour and they need to keep up appearances and their new found drug habits. He would have seen a clean cheaper and better deal from just that end alone.

Besides, I thought this was car section ?

You're still trapped in your self-created predicament.

You sound needlessly angry about his choices. You're entitled to your opinion, but don't go overboard insisting a Benz is the only choice. I personally don't fancy European cars, but that doesn't mean other people shouldn't like them.

Yes it is a car section and he went and got himself a car. Would I do what he did? Absolutely not. But I'd not dare presume to judge him for what he decides to do with his money and what car he prefers. All I can do is have an opinion.

Besides, Toyota (which I don't fancy) sells way more cars than Mercedes.

ENVIRONMENT

Lagos is not as people say it is. In fact, the GRA in Port Harcourt is more neater and nicer than Lekki.

Lekki was nothing to write home about during my stay there.

Seriously my first and last time in Lagos was 2006
Same reason

Now thats one wonderful corolla, No single check engine light. Just be servicing the vehicle every 3000km, change the oil, oil filter, air filter during servicing. You can change plugs and ac filter one a year. Some people might have better ideas though
it has check engine light. I think he should scan it and sort it out.

It was a sweetbitter experience

Hey Abdul, I salut your courage to whether the crazy Lagos state but at the same time I'd called it stupidity.

I really thank God for your life for a safe return back home and I really wish others could learn from your bitter experience.

However, I say congrats to you on getting your dream car but at the same time I'm disappointed and ashamed of you if that's what's you could get after the horror story.

Meanwhile, if the end justifies the means; your journey doesn't Worth it cos You'd spend nothing less than 200k on that car to make it standard.

There are better type of the particular car everywhere, but you chose to get your in a hard and bitter way.

Nobody should try this SHIT cos it's an an expensive foolishness.

Lastly, I'm happy for your life but I'm sad at your choices.

I drive a Honda DC now and I'll be upgrading it soon to a sweet 2012 Accord but I bet you it's gonna be a sweet transition, no shitty stories, no bribing, no fuckinn doh doh stuffs cos I've got trusted people to inspect the car in Lagos at a friendly price and deliver to Abuja all under 70k.

Godspeed bro.

OMG, 4.1m in total for this corolla 2006/2007?

Guy, you have been cheated, next time if you want to purchase something in Lagos, have someone who will be your guide and knows Lagos very well so you won't be going around telling people you're not that familiar with Lagos and you came to buy something, once they know you aren't familiar with Lagos, how to dupe you is what they will be thinking of and that car you spent 4.1m on in total is way too outrageous, I use same car as well and you could have spent at most 3.5m including registration and transportation expenses. Anyway, that's gone and the car is clean, I drive bolt for a living in Lagos, if I had come across your former thread earlier, I could have assisted you in getting the car at cheaper price sef, trust me for that.

Maintenance tips, 1 major thing that kills people engine and gear is negligence, if you can give that car regular oil when it's due, the car will serve you 5years without touching engine or gear, this is my Maintenance tip for my car, since I drive Bolt, I usually drive 1000km within a week and sometimes more than that within a week due to how body carry me to drive around the car to make more money, but whenever I service my engine, I will reset either Trip A or B on my dashboard to keep tab on the KMs I have run before next service and since I use semi synthetic oil, I don't drive it above 4000km before my next oil change and also to avoid the oil getting too dark and thick which will be causing sludge inside the car engine and sludge makes car to shorten oil. Just reset either your Trip A or B and if you're using Mobil 1000 XHP or the 2000 XHP to service the car, don't run the car more than 4000km before changing the oil, mechanic will tell you to run 5000km but do not listen to them and do not wait for the car to show Maintenance required before going for the oil change, have it in your mind never to run more than 4000km before changing the oil and if you're using Mobil 1 which is the full synthetic oil, you can run 5000km.

That car sweet die and the only problem you will be having is wheel issues which are minor issues.

Enjoy and drive safely.
you should have read carefully to know that OP bought the car for 3.7m. Feeding, hotel accommodation, transportation and other expenses brought it to 4.1m. Then why will you even advise him to use a 20w50 oil at this early stage? You use semi synthetic and advice him to use mineral oil? Please don't even give him that option. I have used synthetic on my Avalon for 9yrs. The engine is pristine and never worked on. My exhaust has no sooth of any sort. Remember he was paying 25k for hotel accommodation. And was also dashing police money unnecessarily. Imagine giving them 5k, 2k.

Which of the warehouses did you finally bought the car?

Please give details and address of the warehouse,

Even the contact of the seller will be highly appreciated. Thanks

AbelAbdul:
I WENT FOR BUY AND DRIVE ENDED UP GETTING BUY, REPAIR AND DRIVE

After purchasing the car I did some electrical work on it.

I wouldn't wait any I told the car I want to go.

I was told to pay land fee before the can allowed the car to leave the warehouse.

After a lot of argument I finally paid 15k land fee and I saw other buys paying it.

Since I did not know road back to Lagos I told one of thethe perchers to get me a driver that will drive the car to PH.

I was told to pay 100k. I pleaded with 70k and none could agree.

I told myself I will try to drive it home.

So I entered the car that was about 5pm.

As I just passed the gate of the warehouse I saw girls selling fuel. I stoped to buy because the dashboard showed red light.

After buying the fuel the car could not start. Called the dealer he came out.

First we thought it was battery. When we brought an electrician he discovered that the kickstarter was bad.

He took more than hour to get a new one and fixed it.

He finally fixed it and I drove off.

THE JOURNEY TO PORT HARCOURT
As early as 7am I was on my way toto LIBRA park.

I used to hear of LASTMA officials and how wicked they are to drivers.

I was praying not to fall victim.

I used Google map straight to the park. Met a driver heading to Port Harcourt. I told him I came to Lagos to purchase a car. I don't know my way back to ph and would like to follow him.

He told me no problem.

Soon his bus was full and he started moving.

I started my car it did not start. I almost fainted. That was the last bus to ph how will I do.

I opened the bonnet hit the battery and it started. I moved with speed even drove one way in order to meet up with the driver.

Finally met him then changed lane and was following him at the back will we got to Ogun state.

When we reached Ondo state he stoped at their stopping point told me that police and custom will disturb me on my way and in case he drove pass he directed me how I will get to warri.

Firstly, you are an incredibly "fearless" person I can see the true Port Harcourt resilience in you (I live in PHC too) rugged you my brother. Secondly, you're an impeccable writer, every single line of the story had me grinning from cheek to cheek, good narration. Sorry about the accident doing some damages to the car, judging by the story and the pictures, I think you've gotten a bargain that sounds like a very good car.
Lastly, I'm in your city let me come celebrate with you. Put me on when you can . Cheers

OP, trust me, you will be tired of Corolla within a year. Very bland car, plus the risk of getting robbed.

3.5 million or less is enough to get a sweet Honda Accord 2008-2010. It commands more prestige on the road than any bland and empty Corolla. Keke and motor-bikes will be afraid of coming close to your bumper because of how dashing Evil Spirit looks, unlike Corolla.

The evil spirit is fuel efficient and easy to maintain as well.

I give him just Six months, he will get to know that Corolla is an Overrated toy for Toyota sad-boys.

But your Honda sweet sha..
