government area of Ondo state staged a protest against the alleged acquisition of their farmland by the Ondo State government.

It was gathered the Ondo State government had keyed into the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) agricultural revolution in cashew and oil palm cultivation by ceding thousands of hectares of farmlands including Idanre forest reserve to private firms.

Farmers in Ondo State will soon benefit from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN)’s N200 billion loan facility approved for them at a single digit, for improved production of five major crops.

The cash crops are cocoa, cashew, oil palm, shea butter and sesame seeds.

The approval was one of the major discussions of the Bankers’ Committee meeting last week.

According to the Ondo State Commissioner for Agriculture, Otunba Adegboyega Adefarati, who addressed journalists yesterday on behalf of the State Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu, the development was an opportunity cash crops farmers in the state had been yearning for to take their trade to the world stage.

Senseless state govt. If I am gov, before I even lease land to investors, Ondo state will have 45% stake in that venture. Even God knew land is an important Capital, He kept promising Abraham and his seed land flowing with milk and honey. Yet one yeye gov is busy ceding land flowing with marijuana to investors.
