@anonymous,
Do you think after you are done with this course, you'd have known enough to be a full stack devs?

Or Alx only covers the beginner/intermediate level?

I don't know if I'm qualified to answer this question yet, but from David's response (An ALX student who graduated alx software engineering program in 2021 October and currently working for Amazon in London), I guess it could take you to an intermediate level but you know as a programmer, you never stop learning!!

Hello Boss T and thanks so much for your efforts in keeping us in the loop about all things relating to the Alx Cohort. I appreciate you. Please since you are on the inside, could you find out if there will be another cohort after the Aug 15, 2022 class this year? I am interested but I am presently part of another and won't be done until Oct. Thanks.

There's a possibility but the only way to know is after the August cohort commences.

Guys... It hasn't been easy for reals
Only today alone, I can't count the number of people that has left the group. I'm not saying this to discourage anyone but rather to prepare you ahead.

I'm been thinking of leaving social medias for a while (WhatsApp and Nairaland) but I don't know if it would be possible yet. But I will keep updating the thread.

Mehn... ALX allowed us to be able to access the projects ahead of the week grin

That means, this week's project is no joke. I'm already feeling drained, but will push through anyways. Normally the red links are projects that can be accessed.

Omo, it’s well o
Will still be combining the two, I mean BA inclusive?
As it is now, I think I will have to face VA, which is also starting on the same day. Perhaps after my eight weeks of training will apply for SE.

I was trying to study some of those materials, Omo no be beans o
The fact is I don’t have any prior knowledge on SE

Please, don’t leave any of the groups. Those tips coming from you are really helpful.

Guys

This message is for all alx students irrespective of your cohort!

Today I noticed a lot of people have been evicted and their account disabled.

My account was also disabled, I will drop pictures now. But the account that was disabled is my former Cohort account (7th cohort) but I'm currently in the 8th cohort so I'm safe.

Here's the thing, even if you have gone far like 5 to 6 months but then you relax and your grades start dropping, you will be evicted! Being in the program strongly depends on your grade.

Today I spoke with many people, some whose account were disabled for not reaching the 80% score. One of them spoke about going for a Udemy course, although I tried to persuade him to re-register but then that depends on him.

Another guy, who is combining alx program with Zuri (Zuri is similar to alx, like a bootcamp different stacks). Guys guys guys please.... If you are trying to combine alx and other bootcamp program, take it from me, you won't make it past the first month! I asked the guy why he was going through that stress and he said because he needs Zuri certificate tongue

I don't even know how to reply to that response cause, Hello!!!!! Have you seen ALX curriculum? I meant the actual curriculum on the daily activities? In just two weeks, you were made to learn emacs, git and GitHub, vi, shell
with projects for each of them and you want Zuri's certificate?

I have tried a lot of materials to be frank, from Udemy, Udacity, Coursera, Cs50, YouTube, W3school, freecodecamp... All these are great materials for any dedicated programmer but why don't you search for Software engineering curriculum in each of them, then you would know how generous and amazing ALX curriculum is.

Imagine graduating with all that skills from ALX curriculum? Being added to the room to help boost your network and job opportunities, putting out that GitHub with projects as evidence of your skills... I mean, am I the only one who sees this opportunity?

Do you know why, after about 30k students apply for the program, only about 3k usually graduate? Because a lot of them were indecisive! Trying to multitask like your brain is a machine, many couldn't keep up with the workload and projects, and you MUST do the projects or be removed, they say beginners can apply but if you apply as a beginner without preparation then you would get frustrated a lot.

IT IS NOT POSSIBLE TO COMBINE ALX SE PROGRAM AND ANOTHER BOOTCAMP COURSE!!!! it's not! You will easily get drained mentally, forgetful because your brain is trying to process a lot at once, don't stress yourself. You won't have time to learn to make research aside from the materials being sent to you because of the many projects from alx.

ALX projects are no child play you can easily brush just to do another!

When we were told about 6 alx students who were hired by Amazon, I thought it was a bluff until David(who is currently working in Amazon as an software engineer) came to talk to us about his experience. He wouldn't have gotten there by trying to do two program at once. According to him, his was able to pass because...
- His peers (I acknowledge this, very important, asking people for help doesn't make you inferior to them, keep pride aside!)
- Always study ahead (That is why "planning" is part of your dashboard)

Please... If you're going for Alx SE program and you want to make it to the final stage. Get rid of that bootcamp course because certification with projects won't get you a job. Go to LinkedIn or just search on Google for Software engineering jobs and see the opportunities in that field.

You know another amazing thing about ALX curriculum, if you graduate with all that skill, you can work as a DevOp engineer, Data engineer, backend developer, frontend, full-stack. It is very EASY to apply but VERY difficult to reach the end. Yes! ALX is hard! Which is why you should go hard towards grabbing the opportunities before you.

Hey bro will is maths strictly required because it seems I'm bad in maths and besides what language should i start with since my my programming is starting next month.

With time, you will learn.

Start learning in this sequence
- emacs
- vi
- shell
- git and GitHub
- C Programming language (I recommend using Neso Academy on YouTube to learn C)

Lovely Morning to be reminded of a new project lol, I'm going to start when I get to work. For now, I will be studying.

As a law student who is constantly reading, this is really stressful! But the beauty of it is the benefit!

Is it possible to simultaneously apply for alx SE and alx VA? Is it possible to partake in both at the same time. Will there possibly be conflicts or clashing schedule? Lastly please, around what time of the day do they usually have the live session and pear learning. Thank you.

I would like to add you to that private group. Perhaps, we can learn from your experience. But have you guys been at it for up to a month?
Since it is required that one has to score 80% for the first month.

I received this message from ALX this evening

With the turn of event and ALG having acquired Holberton coding school (alx is under ALG), this will be very beneficial for Africans who decides to apply to any alx courses because you will have access to Holberton materials too.

By the way, we're using the same curriculum as Holberton coding school, the only difference is that Holberton is offering the software engineering program for 2 years while alx is offering software engineering program for a year and we get it for free while people from Holberton pay after graduation. I'm even more excited now, if you're curious of why I'm excited, check out the courses offered by Holberton coding school

Apologies if I don't update as usual, mehn... I took a bold step and decided to start learning C all over again using Neso Academy, it's been the best decision I made pertaining to alx. Although one of the cons is that I'm a little behind since I started all over again but now, I can even comprehend C language more better.

August cohort, please check out Neso Academy on YouTube for C Programming language, it could be one of the best materials out there, aside Caleb, another YouTuber. Neso Academy playlist for C language is 311 videos, it's much but isn't it better than moving from materials to materials? Because the playlist also covers data structures and algorithms on C.

ALX has gotten pretty interesting now but also stressful. They're not giving us a chance to breath lol... But we finna doing hard things smiley

Thanks for the recommendations, I will check them up immediately.

I'm also lagging. The journey is getting interesting and tougher at the same time.
