Looks like Kenya is cementing her position as a relevant player in the maritime area on the East African Seaboard, don know if its because of the Somalia/Kenya maritime dispute or its because of its ambitions to start exploring her blue economy potential. Kenya's President is currently on a state visit to the island nation of Seychelles President Uhuru Kenyatta on Monday evening attended a state banquet hosted in his honour by President Wavel Ramkalawan of Seychelles. Also signed was Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) for cooperation on peace, security and law enforcement at sea as well as maritime affairs. Some background info worthy of note: Kenya Applied to UN to extend her Exclusive Economic Zone by a further 150nm - from the normal 200 nautical miles from land to 350 Nautical miles Pic 1: If you look at the position of Seychelles on the map, then it becomes relevant that for this to work, Kenya will need Seychelles cooperation cause this extended zone gets very close to its territory. pic 2 & 3: Shows the Extended EEZ Pic 3: Kenya's president arriving in Seychelles

jl115: You actually overrate Egyptian jet like they are invincible. Shooting down of Su35 jets defeat your argument already, because Ukraine have nothing better than S300 yet they shot it down the F16 have been shot down by older S200 in Syria Iran Bavar and different kind of SAMs ready to take out anything in it airspace. And please show me where impala evade s300 jl115: I never said ballistic missile will sink a sub, but it will definitely sink a ship, and Iran has it Egyptian navy will bleed. jl115: Egyptian airspace is not half protected has Iranian airspace. And yes fight between them will never happen, we are just having fun. |

Paramount to convert two more maritime patrol aircraft for Pakistan Paramount Group is converting additional Embraer jets to maritime patrol aircraft (MPAs) for Pakistan under its Sea Sultan project. In July 2021, Defense News reported that Pakistan contracted Leonardo to convert three Embraer Lineage 1000 aircraft into long-range maritime patrol aircraft for the Pakistan navy as part of long-term plans to replace the country’s P-3C Orion fleet. Paramount Group has been tasked with handling the pre-conversion maintenance, repair and overhaul of the aircraft. Defense News reported the initial tender went out in November 2020, with Leonardo beating Rheinland Air Services and Turkish Aerospace Industries. A $190 million contract was subsequently signed with Leonardo in June 2021. The Pakistan Navy inducted the first Lineage 1000 in September 2021, at a ceremony at Pakistan Naval Station Mehran in Karachi. This aircraft (ex B-3203, cn 19000453) is unmodified and used for crew training. At the beginning of July, The Intel Consortium reported that Pakistan had secured two more Lineage 1000 airframes for Sea Sultan conversion, including A6-HHS (cn 19000296), which at the beginning of June was tracked by RadarBox flying around Pretoria. The two aircraft were formerly owned by Falcon Aviation Services in Abu Dhabi and flown to Pretoria for conversion work. It is believed they will be fitted with search radar and weapons stations for torpedoes, sonobuoys, depth charges and other weapons. The second Lineage 1000 owned by Falcon Aviation Services is, according to Scramble magazine, A6-IGT (c/n 19000362), but it is not certain if this airframe is involved in the deal. https://www.defenceweb.co.za/aerospace/aerospace-aerospace/paramount-to-convert-two-more-maritime-patrol-aircraft-for-pakistan/ 2 Likes

Rheinmetall Denel Munition awarded Asian 40 mm ammunition contracts Rheinmetall Denel Munition (RDM) has been awarded contracts to supply 40 mm grenade ammunition to two customers in Asia as it continues to grow its customer base. Rheinmetall said that one of the orders is from a new customer that is getting 400 000 rounds of 40 mm low velocity ammunition, to be delivered by December 2022. In the other case, an existing customer ordered 100 000 rounds of medium velocity grenades. These are to be delivered between December 2022 and February 2023. In total, the order is worth about 25 million euros. “With these two contracts, we are expanding our customer base in Asia,” said Jan-Patrick Helmsen, CEO of Rheinmetall Denel Munition. He added that negotiations are already underway to increase the quantities. The orders come on the heels of a large contract for 40 mm grenades signed recently with Spain. RDM will supply 40×53 mm high velocity grenades for the Spanish military’s SB Lag-40 and Mk 19 grenade launchers. Deliveries will take place over four years, starting in 2022. Rheinmetall Denel Munition is a well-known international supplier of 40 mm ammunition and manufactures the full range of Low Velocity (40×46 mm), Medium Velocity (40×51 mm) and High Velocity (40×53 mm) 40 mm ammunition, and has proven compatibility in a wide range of different 40 mm weapons. The 40 mm Medium Velocity rounds are capable of ranges up to 800 meters from shoulder-fired grenade launchers. Rheinmetall claims this is 200 metres more than comparable products on the market. The 40 mm Low Velocity ammunition has a range of up to 400 metres. Both types of ammunition use a High Explosive Dual Purpose projectile. This combines fragmentation and shaped charge, which has a high penetrating power. It can be used against bunkers and armoured targets and can penetrate 50 mm rolled homogenous armour (RHA). https://www.defenceweb.co.za/featured/rheinmetall-denel-munition-awarded-asian-40-mm-ammunition-contracts/ 3 Likes

Rheinmetall Denel Munition awarded Spanish 40 mm grenade contract Rheinmetall Denel Munition (RDM) has been awarded a contract to supply 40 mm grenade ammunition to the Spanish military. The contract covers the supply of 40×53 mm high velocity grenades for SB Lag-40 and Mk 19 grenade launchers in service with the Spanish Armed Forces. Deliveries will take place over four years, starting in 2022. The acquisition covers High Explosive (HE) grenades, High Explosive Dual Purpose (HEDP) and Practice Ammunition as well as Practice-Tracer Rounds. “RDM, as part of the Rheinmetall Group, is proud to be selected by another NATO user for the supply of ammunition from South Africa into the NATO community, confirming RDM’s status as the ‘System House for Indirect Fire’ providing innovative and reliable solutions supported by self-developed technologies,” the company said. RDM’s 40×53 mm high-velocity (HV) ammunition reaches a velocity of 240 m/s and has a maximum effective range of 2 200 metres. According to RDM, the HEDP is a dual purpose round producing a high level of fragmentation and shrapnel for anti-personnel applications, combined with a shaped charge that gives a high penetration capacity against armoured steel (50 mm against Rolled Homogenous Armour) and fortified bunkers. Rheinmetall Denel Munition is a well-known international supplier of 40 mm ammunition. Rheinmetall Denel Munition manufactures the full range of Low Velocity (40×46 mm), Medium Velocity (40×51 mm) and High Velocity 40 mm ammunition and has proven compatibility in a wide range of different 40 mm weapons. Rheinmetall Denel Munition to supply artillery rounds as part of massive Hungarian ammunition order Rheinmetall Denel Munition (RDM) will manufacture and supply artillery ammunition for the Hungarian military as part of a comprehensive ammunition deal awarded to Germany’s Rheinmetall Group that is worth several hundred million euros. The order, announced by Rheinmetall on 30 March, encompasses ammunition for infantry fighting vehicles, main battle tanks, artillery, and decoy systems. Deliveries will start in 2023 and are to be complete by 2031. Most of the ammunition will be manufactured in Hungary, but the artillery rounds will be manufactured in South Africa by RDM. The package includes three variants of 30×173 mm ammunition; 120 mm tank ammunition; and 155 mm artillery shells, including propelling charges and fuzes. Also on order are 40 mm and 76 mm decoy cartridges for the Rosy and Maske smoke/obscurant systems, plus 12.7 mm and 7.62 mm machinegun ammunition. “We are extremely honoured that Hungary has once again entrusted us with the task of modernising its military”, declared Rheinmetall chief executive Armin Papperger. “We’re delighted to be cooperating with our Hungarian friends in another key military capability.” Rheinmetall said the new order makes it one of the Hungarian military’s top ammunition suppliers as the Rheinmetall Group will be supplying ammunition for Hungary’s three main ground combat systems: the Leopard 2A7+ main battle tank, the PzH 2000 self-propelled howitzer and the new Lynx Infantry Fighting Vehicle. Hungary set the process of modernizing its army into motion in 2020 when it ordered 218 Lynx infantry fighting vehicles from Rheinmetall to replace ageing Soviet-era systems. The Rheinmetall Group’s portfolio ranges from infantry and medium-calibre ammunition to tank cartridges and mortar and artillery shells, including propelling charges and decoy cartridges. Rheinmetall Denel Munition produces a wide variety of ammunition such as the 105 and 155 mm artillery shells, 60, 81 and 120 mm mortars, 40 mm grenades and 76/62 mm shells, and mine breaching systems. RDM also builds ammunition filling plants for export and manufactures missile subsystems. RDM is the sole supplier to the South African National Defence Force of large calibre artillery munitions, aircraft bombs, and naval ammunition as well as various mortars. It has been awarded numerous international 155 mm contracts in recent years, including from Australia and several unnamed international and NATO customers. In November 2021 Rheinmetall received an order for illumination and smoke/obscurant shells from the Dutch Defence Materiel Organisation as part of a massive ammunition framework agreement between Rheinmetall and the Dutch armed forces, which could be worth up to 500 million euros. RDM is responsible for some of the rounds, with Rheinmetall in Germany manufacturing the smoke boat tail and base bleed ammunition. RDM said its record-setting artillery rounds have sparked interest across the globe – at a test fire event held at the Alkantpan range in South Africa in 2019, Rheinmetall and Rheinmetall Denel Munition achieved several new range records for indirect artillery fire with various guns, attaining maximum ranges of up to 76 kilometres. https://www.defenceweb.co.za/featured/rdm-to-supply-artillery-rounds-as-part-of-massive-hungarian-ammunition-order/ 2 Likes

Omofaye99:- According to Israeli reports it was pilot error and not taking the right evasive action that caused it to be shot down... Also fighters have several counter measures, they don't need to be stealthy to avoid radar detection or to evade Sam's. Also straight from Syrian officials : "In 2020, Syrian military officials criticized the S-300 air defense systems supplied by Russia, saying they failed to protect Syrian sites from the Israeli strikes." - my bru how many impala were shot down in Angola? - yes very sure |

See the difference - unconfirmed reports they did....however I won't be hypocritical about it....Cuba,Angola and Russia did however deploy there most advanced SAMs systems at that time in Angola, unconfirmed reports state the S300 was deployed however nothing confirmed. - Google fyi P.
