FergieRaww: Sept 2. HBO knew what they were doing when they positioned their show a week plus before LOTR. And it's still going to finish a week later after LOTR ends( that's if Amazon goes with the weeklies without dropping 2/3 debut episodes). LOTR has 8 episodes while HOTD has 10. Premium Fantasy. And this August DC/Netflix serves us The Sandman. Team HOTD for LIFE. It looks better made. 1 Like 1 Share |

For those arguing about House of the Dragon and Lord of The Rings: The Rings of Power It's obvious HOTD will be more popular...and it isn't just cos of GOT being more recent ... Newer generation won't be as invested in LOTR...and it won't be as easy to get into.... LOTR imo focuses a lot on lore...it does have incredible world building but with how focused it is on the lore and how slower paced it is...I don't see how it's viewership will beat HOTD I mean look at recent movies with similar pacing like Dune and The Northman... And you can see how conflicting the opinion is of the newer generation...the same people who shitted on these movies will probably shit on LOTR if it's pacing is similar to that of the movies imo HOTD will be more mainstream 1 Like |

Only interested in X-Men 97 out of these... I wish they could make it somewhat bloody...doesn't need gore service but at least we need stakes and an expansive storyline...not a 1 season story

Baddestguyp: Lol guy stop capping. No one is asking you to defend your favourite fantasy show. You should know everyone has preferences and respect it. In popularity, LOTR is more popular so forget about that phony excuse you're bringing. That recency talk is laughable, The Hobbit ended in 2014, just 5 years before GOTs finale. It's not as if something bis dropping over a decade whatsoever. LOTR is still talked about in mainstream everywhere up till today. It's like saying GOT is more popular than Harry Potter because the Potter movies ended in 2011 when we all know Potter is a kids fantasy book. Same as LOTR. It's adapted from children's book so that younger generation talk ain't it. Potter and LOTR sells hundreds of millions of books over the years. While GOT is also very popular I can't say it has reached those milestone. It rose to popularity cos of its mainstream adult content and audience and not helped by any Pg 13 stuff. Abi you know how many years of age one would have reached before being allowed to watch GOT. I missed out on season 3&4 of GOT back then cos I no fit watch that content for house with my mum. Na only Spartacus I still dey wonder how I get chance watch am with extreme fast forwarding. GOT has extensive lore as well as LOTR and might be the only fantasy book to match Middle Earth's scope. The difference is the audience.... One for general audience and one for mainly adults. The only reason I see LOTR not gaining more hype and love than HOTD is cos of the companies behind both. HBO has an unmatched track record already with GOT, His Dark Materials which Amazon doesn't have with its mixed reception for Wheel of Time. The company also responsible for the early LOTR movies are also the owners of HBO. Funny, as it's the same company, WB, that's responsible for another blockbuster Fantasy franchise — Harry Potter. So there's already a competency that Amazon can't or haven't matched. It's not always all about the money spent. That's where it's glaring cos LOTR is arguably the greatest fantasy movie/franchise of all time. While GOT is the greatest fantasy TV show of all time. And you'll surely bet on a company behind the 3 BIGGEST fantasy universes of all time over another just trying it hands out. 5 Likes 2 Shares |

abduleez1:first, LOTR is not my favorite fantasy show... I'm a far bigger fan of GOT than LOTR... But what I know for sure is GOT is currently more popular... Make a survey and compare those who have watched GOT with LOTR Even on this thread we all know almost everyone has watched GOT...but I'm willing to bet up to 50% haven't watched LOTR No one is denying how big the LOTR franchise is... But let's be honest, in the current generation GOT is far more popular 1 Like 1 Share |

The Terminal List = 8/10 ✔️ Fairly decent series. Reminds me of Bob Lee Swagger in Shooter.

pu7pl3: Na the money dey pain me sef on top very interesting story oo... Veryyy tonally different from GOT or HOTD. We for see Giants, free folk, the Children of the Forest and origin of White Walkers for here. Spanning many interesting things wey we see little of. All just gone like that. And most likely more of Essos. I find it funny at times when people say or think GOT universe is not expansive. Many tales wey people no know ehn. Them no know of House Hoare, Harrenhal, Martells, Valyrians, Rhoynars, Velaryons, Blackfyres ... Na only Starks, Lannisters and Targaryens them Sabi and think that's all about A Song of Ice and Fire. 1 Like 1 Share |

pu7pl3: The funny thing and painful thing about the money... Even season 8 of GOT na $15 highest them spend per episode. Even this latest HOTD na around $150-180mn dollars with around $15mn per episode. Money wey go produce 2 episodes comfortably them throway am for episode wey nobody go watch. 1 Like 1 Share |

We really can't tell which series is going to be more successful between the house of dragon and the ring of power, truth is that on paper, the house of dragon edges out but like i said when the two shows starts properly, that's when we can draw our conclusions. One aspect of things that's going to help the ring of power is if fans of the lord of the ring and the hobbit decides to watch the ring of power. I feel right now many fans of the lord of the rings and the hobbit are still having second opinion about the ring of power unlike the fans of the house of dragons that are ready for the series, however one of the things that might really help the ring of power is social media. If the series starts trending, then forget it, it's all over for house of dragon because by trending, it means luring the interest of the fans of the lord of the rings and the hobbit. For example, people that grew up watching the lord of the rings and the hobbit, those 18 to 22 years generation of kids will be more interested in the ring of power than the house of dragons. Like i said it's all about social media. Anything that makes the ring of power trends on social media, if those generation of kids gets to know about it then it's all over for the house of dragon. It's like Merlin returning for new season now, the outburst will be crazy especially from those young generation of kids. If they know about the ring of power, it's all over for the house of dragon, like i said it has to do with social media. This is simply my opinion though. 4 Likes |

abduleez1: Of course the GOT world is very vast, 100s of spinoffs can come out from there tbh. Just get you a good writer and also let the original creator to be in on it. 3 Likes 2 Shares |

pu7pl3: Me sef surprise when I hear the news some months ago. Turns out Legendary and Toho pictures licenced out the series rights to em. Prolly WB wasn't willing to spend much in the auction. I think stuff like this probably played a role in Kilar's quick removal. |
