I am interestedin this, i stay in Ikorodu.
Gospel367:

Hello bro, since you are the owner of this thread, I believe you should be the best to pass the info.

is there anyone live in central Lagos like ketu, Ikeja or so. If willing, let's team together like 4 or 5, if the person is willing, let's buy unlimited data (fibreone offers unlimited data at 11k but you need the first installation that costs 37k)...if we can be up to 4, we can foot the bill, subsequent months, spend less than 3k for unlimited...and study together till we are through

On work, we can still team together and find a part time hustle we can do in the evening to get income unless we have other jobs to do.

This is not easy but it's a sacrifice of one year. My house would have been best since I have two big rooms but it's far away in ikorodu and I doubt if fibreone gets there. ..

Any better option will be appreciated....

Sharing of resources like laptop will suffice and be helpful too

I just finished the ALX's "virtual assistant" course and aced. Was fun all through. The connects are so worth it. Imagine meeting people from all parts of Africa. Was looking at putting in for the Software Engineering programme but I think I may suffer a burnout. So clueless right now. Been learning Java and C++ but stuff won't just stick, maybe because I suck at Maths, I can't say.

I'll just stick with proceeding with my Product Design lessons jeje.

Engage yourself with learning programming languages before you start so that when lessons begin, you just grab. However, ALX is starting from scratch. I mean, the bottom foundation, so no qualms. I went through their curriculum and trust me, I was so impressed. Coursera or Udemy wouldn't.

That aside, get data (check above for Gospel367's offer). Seems so cool. A whole lot of your time and 100% attention. Zeal. Willingness. Have an open mind.

@Anonymous6o6 can complete the omitted.

Well... Having the knowledge is good but that's not what you will be starting with. I have gone through your thread before, if you devote time and commitment to alx, you will realize it's worth.

Thank you so much for creating this thread, I got to know a lot about ALX and I got to say that what they are offering for free is very impressive!
Someone sent me the link to ALX some weeks back and after checking it out, the first thing that threw me off was the 70 hours a week, I am definitely not going to be able to cope with that. I am already taking a computer science course with Harvard university when the link got sent to me and the course is for 12 weeks but I have from now till December 31st to complete it, so I can go at a slow pace but adding ALX to it will be suicidal. I will probably check out ALX when I am done with Harvard (that is if the free opportunity is still available by then) Thank God Harvard and ALX have some similar courses (DSA, C and python) and I have also completed the HTML and CSS course from freecodecamp, so it won't be difficult for me to cope with ALX later on

When you're done with Harvard and still want to continue then you can try ALX. Looking forward to hearing from you

I've been using Visual Studio Code (VSC) to learn C programming for some time now.

Are you saying I don't need to learn how to use the editors you mentioned on this thread earlier once I know how to work with VSC?

You need them
Vim and emacs are text editors used in Linux, knowing their commands will make things easier for you because they're projects on emacs and vi.

You already know the importance of git since you use it to track your codes and make changes, please learn its Commands, GitHub is equally important for hosting your codes.

For those on windows, no need installing virtualOS. If you dont want to make use of the built-in windows powershell, You can install cygwin to imitate the linux bash. Cygwin seeks to emulate the whole unix/linux system on Windows as accurately as possible, including directory structure.

1. Download the cygwin.exe installer from cygwin website.

2. Run the installer. Choose the default options it shows. Choose "Direct Connection" when it comes to choosing internet connection. You may then get an error that it cant connect to any mirrors. If this happens, just visit https://cygwin.com/mirrors.html then select the nearest mirrror to you. I think UK is good. Copy the link and go back to your installation. Paste the link in "Add URL" and click next.

3. You will be presented with a huge list of things to install. Dont let it overwhelm you. Also you dont need to install all, you can always come back and install what you need. So clicking next will install the defaults which includes bash, mintty etc. I would go to editors row and check if emacs and vim are also selected. But you can always install these later by rerunning this installation (cygwin.exe)

4. The programs you selected will download and install (in this case, it is the defaults).

5. Make sure you check the boxes that asks to create desktop and start menu icons.

6. Run your newly installed cygwin. Type: pwd and hit enter (pwd stands for present working directory) voila, you can now run linux
commands on windows
I've completed these steps as instructed. How do I find Emacs and Vim on the Cygwin terminal?

I installed Emacs but can't find the editors, Emacs and Vim. What do I do next, please?

I only have Cygwin terminal running now.

Good Morning everyone
I haven't done yesterday's project yet lol
Will do it when I get to work. Meanwhile I went to my calendar to check how long we will be doing C Programming language, and I found out, we will be doing C for three months. We started C Programming language late June and will end it early September.

So python classes will start middle of September. Early August will be the start of C data structures and algorithms. I will drop pictures of the calendar, for short-sighted people, you may have to download and zoom in.

I stay around Ikeja/yaba axis and I love the idea of pairing up to subsidize internet charges. Does fibreone work well around that area
