I don't know the full story between you and your husband, but from what you Have said, your husband is a wicked man. More importantly, he is foolish too. He didn't think his actions through. Canada knows that he is a married man. And his application didn't say non-accompanying. Visas were also issued to two persons. They have all that information. Sooner or later he will answer to why he is in Canada without his wife. This is Canada. Someone said maybe he is testing you. It is only the devil that tests people this way. If somehow you eventually come to Canada, leave that man for your own good. (and incase you are actually the witch in this whole story - leave him for his own good. Animals have more rights than men here and you would only make his life more miserable if you stay with him) grasiouso: 13 Likes |

I don't think you owe anyone an explanation on who or what caused any fight that may exist, it should be sufficient for anyone who truly wishes to advise you that he seized your passport for WHATEVER reason (cos nothing justifies seizing an adult's passport). Anyone asking for details of "the fight" or speculating is not ready to help but apportion blames or use your story for their amusement. Good luck in choosing the best decision. grasiouso:go to Canada government website and browse on Verification of Stutus or replacement of immigration document, follow the instruction listed. After filling, send it to OSC in Ottawa Canada it cost $30. Don't give up do this for the sake of your unborn child. Secondly, why I suggest you do the Above is because the only logical reason he can give during POE is that you lost your documents or you are staying back for a health challenge, since he did not do non accompanying. Good luck. 6 Likes |

Pray tell what is the misrepresentation? There are a million and one reasons why a couple may choose not travel together and its happened many times before. Ok let's even say he says we had a misunderstanding and we are both sulking, is that enough reason to say they are no longer married? I highly doubt that. ..And we all AGREE that he shouldn't get away with seizing her passport regardless of the reason. ednut1: |

Good day house, I am seeking opinion of the house on behalf of my uncle. His case is kind of complicated and he needs to thread carefully. He travelled abroad, but after some years he lost his legal status due to some issues he had with his boss at work, the boss reported him and his visa was revoked. Due to his non-legal status and frustration, he decided to start the Canada EE process. While on the EE process, he was looking for ways to have legal status in the country again. The only way at that point was to use an arranged partnership with a lady who's a citizen of the country he resides. He applied for a spousal visa and it was granted. The spousal visa was granted after he has submitted his EE application. I forgot to mention he is married, his wife and kid only visits him once in a while from Nigeria. During his EE application, of course he included his wife and kid in the application, although as unaccompanied for CRS purpose. Now he recently got PPR, but he's concerned about the spousal visa which is still valid on his passport. Will there be a problem if he send the passport with that spousal visa (which was not gotten through his wife included in the EE application)? Will that be term as misrepresentation? because I don't think its possible to be legally married and at the same time be in a common law/partnership relationship with another person. Does IRCC still investigates after PPR? Can a PR be rejected after PPR? Gurus in the house, kindly advise my uncle before he send the passport, which might trigger something else. 1 Like |

musspuss:Did you read her story? This is not ordinary husband and wife fight o. They aren’t living together and she can’t communicate with him. Thats separation. Does Nigeria give a certificate for being separated? Let’s use the case of common law partners, when they separate, there’s no official document but does that mean ircc shouldn’t be informed while an application is in progress? They are separated and that’s enough reason to inform ircc. Not doing so is misrepresentation. It’s okay if you think it’s not. Me I’ve said my own sha o. P.S even when you try to calculate your CRS scores, the option for marital status has “divorced/separated” and “officially separated”. There’s a reason those options are there. 1 Like |

The fact that you don't know the full story says it all. in every situation, there is the Man's side, the woman's side and then the truth. No matter the case, I don't think it's in your place or anyones place to insult another lady's husband. She came for help with Visa not for insult. or marriage counselling. Whether he's wicked or foolish or kind or whatever, he is still her husband. Just provide answer to her question and move. Nacho4: 6 Likes |

It's not in my place to express my opinion on a public discuss but it's in your place to express your opinion on my opinion? Think straight please. I hope you are bright enough to comprehend my response to her well enough to see that I made my submission based on the premise she presented while acknowledging the absence of the other side of the story. Letting her know he can't go scott free with his FOOLISH act (oh yes, very foolish act)and would be held accountable, arms her better in her decision making on how to salvage this situation she is in "She came for help with visa not for insult or marriage" rada rada. I hope you are bright enough to see that the bedrock of the visa issue is the state of her marraige. When did advicing someone on how to avoid future troubles from the source of their current trouble become a problem? Are you alright? bigmills: 13 Likes |

I say it with boldness and confidence for the records - your husband is a wicked and selfish man. However, he's not the focus of my post. I see a lot of good advice but I think we are forgetting the angle that if you declare the passport missing and try to get a new COPR. The correspondence will still go to him and he can still suppress it. Also, the birth of your child before you land will seriously complicate your issues further. Therefore, I believe the best approach will be to get the passport from him and land. I will advise that you get someone (more like a professional) to contact him and lay the risks of his actions to him so it will scare him to release your documents. And I don't care about his side of this story. This in itself is abuse and you shouldn't preclude yourself from any action because it is too harsh for him. You and your baby are the most paramount to you and should be all you are concerned about at this time. I have further advice I want to share but will fo that personally. Please reach out to me. [quote author=grasiouso post=115129368]Please I need help. My husband seized my Visa and COPR so I’m unable to travel. I am heavy and due to travel in August with my ticket already booked. He has travelled already and he took my passport with visa and my COPR and cut off communication with me. He never even allowed me see the COPR cos he had his plans so now I’m stranded in Nigeria and need help on what to do. Please how do I go about retrieving these documents from IRCC? 13 Likes 2 Shares |

titibaby: Rather than wickedness, it's unguarded anger, irrational act and selfish attitude. 80% of men think alike when it comes to their Ego. An average man would do anything when it comes to power tustle in marriages; same mechanism that allows an average man to put himself in danger just to protect his wife/kids or family. Although no one has heard his own side of the story but his actions negates his reasons. I will say this for free, her husband didn't go to Canada with her travell documents. Am very positive that he left those documents in the care of a trusted ally which his wife is oblivious of. If proper steps are taken it would be like a miracle when he will just instruct someone to handover those documents to her here in naija and may even book her flight ticket. That is if she has not pressed too much control + spoil 3 Likes |

I didn’t sleep well last night, probably my worst night ever and I’m not even over it yet. My POF is in Naira because IRCC uses official rate which happened to be around N8.5m for a family of 4. If I change in the black market and put in dom account at the rate of 580 to $ then, it won’ t be enough to meet up the 25kplus CAD for family of 4 so I picked the easiest option (leave it in naira) since that is all we have. Last night I heard $ is now 710, so that is how all my life savings is depreciating for my eye like that, and ITA has not come. Still waiting for PNP to boost my score if possible since EE is still 500ish now. I’m sad but this japa is like my plan A. Yes I have a job here but I am tired! I can’t even change the money again at 710 nah, my body is still shaking and I hope putting this out here will make me better 3 Likes |

MissMa01: In the eyes of mental health and moral both are bad. But with some ladies, the former is preferred to the later and vice versa. A patient In one of my sessions (young damsel ) said if her man does not beat in like 3 months then she would have the feeling he does not love her any more or he is seeing somebody else and her body won't just be ok at all. I reffered her to see a shrinkn cos I was dazed. So people are different my dear and you can never tell |

Or would the applicant be required to present the license at any point before PR is issued? E.g Pharmacy, Medlab, Occupational Therapy, Public Health Inspectors, Dentists, etc etc |

EsoEso: Aha!, thankful that someone else on this forum understands the point I've been trying to make. Bro, we are on the same page! Not trying to justify the husband's action in any way...but I'm sure he won't be wicked to the point of denying even his own unborn child such a privilege. I was also almost typing your perspective that he probably dropped the document with a close relative pending the wife's humble apology, but my post was already becoming too long. It's a shame things are going this way sha all because of ego on both sides. We haven't heard from the man yet. I'm not good at taking sides based on a one-sided narrative. The other party MUST be granted a fair hearing, but of course he can not be invited to nairaland to share what transpired. In all, I can't fathom how the joy of getting a PR didn't compel the husband to ignore whatever grouse he (or both of them) have been holding on to. The news of a COPR is too sweet not to smile and let go, and both couple dance to Canada. This story no just sweet me at all. Too bad! Madam should bring in family members first. Don't start with police or IRCC legal threats. We are Africans first. Let's try resolve issues the traditional way first. 5 Likes |

Yes, I read her story alright and still wouldn't call it a separation. So, if he calls tomorrow and they squash all beef, would they need to keep updating IRCC verbally/ unofficially of all these "separations"? Do you know how many married couples keep fighting and leaving the matrimonial house temporarily only to come back when fight is settled? I bet there are more than we care to admit. My main point is they can genuinely explain away whatever misunderstanding there is without calling their status "separated" Also apart from the issue of cutting all communication (yes, I agree this may be a problem with IRCC), living separate alone does not nullify a marriage- my cousin got 2 PPR letters from IRCC because one of them was living in a different country from the other and IRCC obviously took that into consideration when issuing the letters. My opinion is if initial poster had known AND had access to the PPR letter, she could very well have sent her passport separately with no qualms: if he was sending to VFS Abuja, she sends to VFS Lagos or vice versa OR even travel all the way to ACCRA. After all the letter says to your nearest VO, so if either of them was on a trip they necessarily do not need to wait till they're back together. All this would still be possible only IF she had access to the PPR letter though. I'm just hoping she gets her passport back ASAP whichever way and get her COPR. littyprincess: |
