GabrielYulaw: It says something very strongly about the inherent capacity of the army to do the job. IMO they have a operational culture that's essentially based on old ethos, it's as if they are using DOS when we are using Windows 11. Three key missing components in thier battlefield management; Zero spatial awareness , poor communication infrastructure and no contingency responsive plan. The settings is quasi Urban, you are going into volatile territory ( no situational awareness) really you should have eyes and ears on the ground, a few basic drones, intelligence zero. Getting ambushed is not the problem it is your contingency plan to deal with it. We have had French soldiers for a decade in the Sahara. What have been their casualties and why are the deranged jihadists not keen to engage them ambush or otherwise. Because the day they do none of them will return home. They will not just REPEL , but seek out , overtake and annihilate. I admit to being Western biased, but I have never seen European and or American combatants brutalising sometimes killing innocent civilian for their daily entertainment . And when carrying out operations carry out a scorched earth policy on civilian settlements. I have been in bases across Europe and the UK etc but never seen that happen. What's wrong with our combatants.❓ That behaviour is very far from professional and if it is WHY, therefore do you in expect the army to have the efficacy of a modern disciplined professional fighting force. Therein lies the problem. Consider this Hundred plus passengers kidnapped in broad daylight on the Kaduna - Abuja Train and then walked to captivity ,they are still probably within a 200km radius of Kaduna. But we still don't know where they are to date How long did it take the USA to find there singular citizen Philip Walton kidnapped by bandits and brought into Zamfara. It was was probably within 72 hours and the kidnappers wasted. So we have a problem and it starts from the top where ineptitude and incompetence are the defining words exemplified in PMB 12 Likes 1 Share |

FIBUA engagement can happen in metropolitan AOR because Nigeria now has red level insecurity, so for our Army patrol on Abuja city streets, Guards Brigade mounted light infantry personnel should not ride soft skin Toyota Hilux, they should ride Toyota land cruiser TLC200, TLC300, its available armouring level B7 protected from 7.62mm armour piercing bullets, with options retractable RWS 7.62mm PKM GPMG plus coaxial 35mm AGL. It blends well with environment, tainted glass so nobody sees soldiers uniform and retracted remote weapon station. It has option roof mount day/night vision tv camera not retracted but size reduced signature, also painted to blend with autobody color. Correct asset for commercial - administrative capital city without signs that may cause public panic. 500k per vehicle but fit for purpose medium intensity combat. Over two hundred remain on offer to FGN in the files of Aso Rock with OEM finance funding for procurement without cash, but FG not serious with it. Careless I don't care attitude has joined Naija Govt incompetence, while insecurity is cracking this helpless country from top to bottom and my life your life is not worth 10 kobo. We are just unlucky to be Nigerians. 3 Likes

Odunayaw: Okay. Thanks for the explanation. You know, back in the days and sometimes now, African presidents and dictators would reserve the best equipment and troops foe their presidential guard, because it was this set that would be tasked with keeping them in power no matter what. I thought that was what was going on here, with the presidential guards in Aso Rock being armed to the teeth with the best possible equipment and staffed with the best troops and officers in the NA. |

davefurn:If it is saying that our security in Nigeria is messed up. That is very easy. We say it everyday But if all we do is say just that we wouldn't be having good discussions on here right? I personally think the security architecture around Abuja [and extension] is setup to fail. Why? It is set up around the Army. The Army will fail in police duty. But who will hear? 5 Likes |

GabrielYulaw: 100k dollars is estimate for soft skin TLC200, TLC300, specs dry no extra add ons. 250k is like this our NA COAS TLC200 B6 not armed. 350k can get B7 no weapon. 500k ups you to add hidden, retractable thermal, stabilized, RCWS for day/night ops and also high accuracy shots targeting in our civilian populated Abuja. As you add necessary extra capabilities you add costs. Foreign OEM offered FG full credit cover. Even at 500k per vehicle LATV specs SUV its affordable for Guards Brigade that has special FMF line budget allocation fund add security vote of presidency, both cash are allocated every year. NA Guards Bgd regiment FCT can afford dozens of this asset to overmatch threat level of Abuja and secure us in FCT make we no die cheapay cheapay. 3 Likes
