I used the Sagamu Immigration office and i have captured since 18th of May, it completed 5 weeks yesterday and there is no passport in sight..

DIY will frustrate you, I can't wait anymore, enough of being patriotic. It is now i understand why the officers were laughing at me that day when they heard i did it myself, only their PCO commended me.

The file is where you keep the forms printed online, during application for passport. This file is what will be used in calling you in for capturing. If it's DIY and you opened file same day as your capturing date, you may likely miss capturing that day, and once that happens, your story to a long wait may begin.

Good morning beautiful people. I'm going for re-issue and I have registered as DIY at Alausa. Application letter is requested when coming for my capturing, how am I going to do that? And as a renewal do I need a guarantor?

Secondly, I both registered for myself and wife, while her own is fresh passport. Can I open file on behalf of her without her being there because of her work schedule, but she will be around on our capturing day, because we both chooses same date and time.

Can a colleague of 21 years of age be our guarantor and is her photocopy of intl passport data page and her passport photograph enough or do we still need guarantor National ID and driver's licenses.

Application letter is compulsory. It is just a simple application letter. You write it on A4 paper with biro and address it to PCO.

For renewal, you don't need a guarantor. It is only fresh application that requires guarantor form. You can generate that on NIS application portal.

You can open file on her behave if you want to do that before your capture date. Just ensure you go with all the required documents.

Of course, a 21 years old person can be your guarantor. As long as the person's passport is still valid and willing to sign for you and give you photocopy of his/her passport data page.

Just make sure all your documents are complete and you are ready to spend almost the whole day there. NIN verification is what take most people's time at Alausa. Once you submit your application form, they may not call your name again to confirm your NIN verification in the next 10 hours, and you may be lucky. Check back previous posts here to be double sure of all the necessary documents. Iree o!

Just as you rightly predicted it was breeze. One way or the other, I find myself not regretting giving the officer that money. I was scheduled for today and the officer called me last nite to remind me and told me to come very early. I did as he said and arrived the office at 7:55 am, by the time I got inside, he had already submitted my file and told the security guys to let me in....I sat and at exactly 10:40 am I was done capturing.

Most people who came through the DIY ROUTE were still at the first waiting area.


Anyways, just as someone once said here, if you want to go the DIY ROUTE, You must be a man of integrity and willing to express it and have patience.

I know you may be thinking "how possible" well I paid for a fast track; it was supposed to come out on Monday, but the officer said they had a payment error problem with my file because of the DIY I started with...but I kept pressuring seeing it was looking as though it was changing from a fast track to normal processing...just went today and they made it ready.



I don't even know why I was this impatient, I'm not travelling anytime soon. But it' still feels good having the passport handy and with this growing insecurity. Japa fit dey needed at any moment.
