dododawa1: Oh boy. We are talking of Ocean going vessels you are talking about River Niger. It is true River Niger and Benue flow into Atlantic Ocean. During dry season those Rivers dry off. To charge them requires dredging. The dredging does not immediately make them international route for ocean liners . Late Gamaliel Onosode, a Captain of Industries and Chairman of Niger Delta Environmental Survey (NDES) setup committee that engaged maritime research institutions to carry out Environmental Impact Assessment of the dredging of River Niger and Benue on Niger Delta communities, it was very serious. That was why Abacha could not continue. Badagry Port is conceptualized by Private Investors and Lagos State because of Cotonou port, Lome Port and Tema Port in Ghana. The Ship Repair Yard by Hyundai and Samsung in that area is the biggest in West Africa to serve Ships in that West Africa axis not just Nigeria. Moreover, apart from Aje Oilfield in the offshore, another oilfield in the offshore (Ogo Oilfield) is coming online maybe by next year. This is an International Port on International route. 5 Likes 2 Shares |

babaolofin: Construction of Africa’s largest deep seaport situated in the Badagry area of Lagos has officially started. The project is a joint venture between Integrated Logistics Services (INTELS) and the Nigerian Port Authority (NPA). https://constructionreviewonline.com/biggest-projects/badagry-deep-sea-port-africas-biggest-deep-sea-port-project-updates/ |

hammer567: It is not a new project. You don't understand English language. The project has been conceptualized over 10 years ago. Read my first submission on this topic. You cannot do any port project without NPA just like you have Joint Ventures in the Oil sector between MNOC and Nigeria represented by NNPC. It is the NPA that represents FG in Port. This why we have Niger Delta militants, Biafra and Oduduwa agitation. Our concern tonight is not about exclusive list but developmental investment. Early in the year, the Badagry people summoned Sanwoolu and threatened him that if the project is not revived, they would recover their land. He pleaded with that the project would be revisited. One thing I have to confirm is if this is the old project or a new one. 4 Likes |

You don't want to move on but you want Biafra. I laugh. Keep insulting Yorubas while we make progress. 50 years from now, your children will ask you what you were doing while Yorubas were developing their land. 4 Likes |

Omodua: There is no sea in the South East. If there is, mention it. Maybe you're mistaking Rivers for Seas. Mind you, the Badagry port is a privately funded project. Go to the south east and gather yourselves together to build a port and approach the FG for approval and see if they won't approve it. 2 Likes |

But seriously, we are still building more ports 1 cargo Airport and 2 Seaports on Ogun. 2 Seaports in Ondo Another seaport and airport in Lagos. You see say e don pass 11 seaports so. tempest01:Very soon this port will turn to white elephant project, there is Lekki Deep Sea Port about to begin operations in a couple of months. I don't see any need for this Badagry port, it will just increase the traffic grid in Lagos. Import is declining thanks to exorbitant duty. Lagos needs infrastructures befitting of a mega city |

ExplorerReturns:It’s a PPP arrangement and involves 3 parties; state, FG and private, if other states can’t do same they should stop the blackmail. Lagos is trying to decongest its own apapa port. Other states that want ports should plan and execute a viable project not wait for FG to fund it all 1 Like |

Re: Federal Executive Council Approves Badagry Port. by rajiedreez: 6:45am On Aug 04, 2022 |
Omodua: The reason why it's difficult to get a solution is that governors of those area are running a one man show in their respective states. Delta, Rivers and Akwa Ibom states have been licensed by the federal government to build seaports but the funding isn't forthcoming. Rivers state is close to South Eastern states from the ocean, if there was good cooperation by governors of those regions, other South Eastern state governors can go into contract with the Delta and Rivers state government - because these two states are closer to South East than Akwa Ibom - to help source for fund and draft a contract that gives all party an equal stake and access to the ports. Further more, the states that helped source for the funds can also lias with the federal government - since the funds are available - to approve the construction on land ports in there states will a railway directly to the seaports. So that cargoes meant for the states will be cleared in the respective land ports so as not to congest the Delta and Rivers ports and also reduce transport costs. |

valentineuwakwe: You are actually saying you don't have private investors in the East. You go school so? You are impoverished noisemakers who can't afford to build a single port on PPP. Ordinary toll on 2nd Niger bridge, you are already complaining. 4 Likes |
