Thank you so much for this review, I'm very grateful. Please how can I join the mock interview?

Potbellied:

- This is not bad at all, in my opinion. I just fell you need to brief and hit the nail on its head with your answers. You hardly have time to pour out your responses as the VO would likely cut you interminently. That's why I think you should put your strong foot first in every of your answers.

- Your why this course's response is too long Abeg. Leave the unnecessary details out too. Personally, I would advise you take out the beheading story part. The story, to me, sounds more like "argumemtum ad misericordia." More like you indirectly attracting sympathy. You wouldn't want to downsize your country, you know.

- For you raising your kids here cos you love your culture, that's a poorly scripted lamba and the VO probably knows it is, already. The US has a growing community of different African cultures, spread all across the country. You could also raise your kids in one of those communities then. Even if you'll go with that story, tell the lie in a more convincing, believable way, at least.

- As an aside: What matters really isn't your written transcript. It is more of how well you can articulate those points. Have you been joining mocks? If you haven't, join one today and practice, practice and practice.

Please how can one join and do the mock interviews? I'm new here please

Moshkom:
Quick One Guys,

For the approved ones, don’t forget to check your school’s requirements for your resumption. Most schools ‘told’ you then that you are required to submit your official transcripts upon arrival etc. Don’t forget to ‘order’ that from your undergraduate school before you leave, don’t get there and be stranded, thinking “dem don forget”; “e no mean”. “ dem no go ask” Lol e go shock you.

For the ones searching for dates, keep keeping on; you’re not alone. It’s always like that and would always be like this.

The ones with date, preparation is key. Join and do mocks to get your wordings well, so that you can CONVINCE the VO on why you need the White paper.

For the prospective applicants, start and spread your applications now to meet priority deadlines. Spring 2023 and Fall 2023 are upon you already, e no far again oh.

GOD NO GO SHAME US

VO: You’ve been here before, what has changed?
Me: The last time I was offered a master’s program with partial funding but presently, I got a fully-funded Ph.D. program with a graduate teaching assistantship.

You are going for a fully funded PhD, you won't be asked half of the questions. Interview lasts less than 3 minutes most times. It's still good you prepare well. Wish you success.

A MUST READ!!! - URGENT INPUT GUYS

Hello Nairalanders
Cc
@Chibertha, Moshkom, Ummzayd e.t.c

I’m back in the house again…I was away for about 4months scouting for interview appointments date (One of the most difficult processes) in getting a student’s visa. Fortunately, I was able to secure a date yesterday which is too close to my class start date

Please help me review this on how to structure what to tell the VO during my interview

[Here is the thing:

My Orientation Program date :- 13th August 2022 (Will definitely miss as I haven’t gone for interview yet)

Visa Interview Date :- 18th August, 2022

Class start date :- 22nd August, 2022 (Will miss as passport/visa will still be in process with embassy, which usually takes about 3 to 5 business days to process) – Worst case scenario 25th to 26th to receive before final arrival date.

The remarks section on my I-20 says this:

‘’Tuition, fees and insurance subject to change without notice. Tuition fees /expenses for 9 months(fall/spring). Missing international programming in mid-August could delay course registration. To maintain F-1 status, student must register and enroll full-time (Minimum 9 credit hours for graduate students). Must arrive before last day to schedule classes: August 30, 2022’’

Can visa officers use the close class start date and missing orientation as a yardstick to refuse a visa , irrespective of the fact that I have an extension in the remarks section above till the 30st to arrive?

Please what is the best statement/words to convince them to cover the missing orientation date and first week of class? . The school doesn’t have issues with my resumption after the 22nd of August, 2022 till the 30th.

Need your input guys …please, Ejowo oo, Don Allah, Biko. Thank y’all!

Question # 2
How do I change my intended travel date / tentative travel on DS-160 and update my appointment profile on CGI to reflect same? Please, note that I have already submitted my DS-160 (Reason: It was submitted cos I used it to apply for EA, which was eventually denied).
Any step-by-step guide will be greatly appreciated. Thanks guys!

Don’t be scared, it’s not your fault that you were given a late interview date. If they ask and I doubt they will, just say your school is aware of your late resumption and it’s fine. Don’t be scared just take your time and prepare for your interview and make sure you ace it well so you can come here.

You don’t need to change anything on any form too. You are fine.

Goodluck!!!!

First of all, so Many things went wrong in this transcript.

The truth really did hurt you in this case:

5 years just to visit hubby with the kids
Hubby supporting you all from his GTA
The weight of your salary @ current position

Read your transcript and put yourself in the position of VO whose primary task is to check migration from this end.
