if you don't provide proof of visa refusal

If you're referring to the initial dep it's non refundable - details are there if you click to view the full policy.

The balance made to add up the full first semester fee is refundable only if you withdraw or provide proof of Visa denial two weeks before date of resumption.

If you don't choose to withdraw and defer the admission, the initial deposit + the balance will be transferred to another intake.

Hope that clarifies it.

TESTIMONY TIME

It’s been a long ride with IRCC. Approval after three applications.

I got a fully funded Ph.D. admission last year in June for fall resumption but deferred admission to January so I could have ample time to prepare my visa application. I applied from China in September and rejection came in within two weeks on personal assets and financial status, immigration status, and purpose of visit grounds. I was devastated, to say the least.

I explained my ordeal here on Nairaland and was advised to come back home to reapply. An immigration lawyer from my school helped me review my LOE for reapplication. I however panicked when flights from Nigeria were banned in December so I reapplied from China. Your guess is as good as mine. Another refusal, based on the same reasons as above. So, I packed my bags and came back home.

For the third and final application, I submitted same documents as before. The only thing that changed was updating my LOE with the information that I am back home and applying for a new CAQ to be sent to Nairobi office.

Final application was sent in on the 12th of March through the new portal.
Medical request 16th June
Medical Examination – 30th June
Medical passed - 15th July
PPR- 29th July

SUBMITTED DOCUMENTS
• Admission Letter
• Passport data page
• Birth certificate
• Academic Transcripts
• Academic certificates
• LOE
• CAQ
• Upfront medical sheet
• Personal bank statements
• Gift deed
• Land and property documents
• Family birth certificates
• CAC document

Kindly note that in both refusal cases, I requested GCMS notes before reapplying. The reasons were quite vague. I guess their main concern was applying from a country I had “temporary ties” to.

After 12 weeks processing time, I sent an email. It was after this I got the medical request. I also sent emails when my new medicals was not updated on time.

Special thanks to Akannitommy, Makano, Ikechi12, Osemigho, and Omiinii for answering my questions. Thank you all for your support. I can now rest.
Congratulations ♥️I'm next to testify

1: I would like to ask what’s the influence of Fixed deposits on visa applications, does it equivalent to Economic ties ?

2: If there is a personal savings of 10M, is it advisable to put 6M in a fixed deposit which will mature prior to the school resumption? Or rather just leave all money in the bank…..

Note: no lumps sum just personal savings and school fees will be covered by mpower financing.

Hello ActivatedDreams,

A fixed deposit can serve many purposes including showing economic establishment, financial investment and supporting POF. It is also an ideal way to avoid lump sums that could require tedious justification. If you don't have lump sums, there is no need to set up a fxd. Better to leave all your funds as it is and where it is.

you may not get your study permit before your classes resume considering you applied quite late. Takes about 12 weeks minimum to process the study permit. The best advice is to contact the school that you applied for study permit late and what other options are available to you. If they offer deferrals.

Thank you so much for responding. Clearly I did not communicate properly.
Let me be clearer:
I have never applied to Canada and so i do not have any rejections. I was only saying I have started the process thrice (gathering info, writing ielts, applying and receiving admission) but I never got to the stage of applying. Emphasizing that I have been wasting time and now decided this is the last time.

I have worked for almost 20 years in finance - mainly investment banking and I am now a VP. I have an MBA almost complete from the UK - online). Also ICAN and CFA L1 (L2 hopefully in September)

i have a valid UK and US visa on my passports with some travel history

I just started a business in the wellness industry this year

I am a divorced mother of an 18 year old son. He is in Year 2 in University.

I want to relocate to Canada alone and get my son to join me after he graduates.

I am apply to colleges for courses in wellness (because of the new business) or Project Management and Analytics (I was just moved to the Fintech arm of my company and this is relevant now).

I need advise on :
1) viability of my choice of courses
2) How to apply for my son
3) Should i use an immigration lawyer?

Thank you

Hello Margs,

The course choice depends on your primary study focus, between the two shortlisted learning areas, and how you wish to relate your story to the officer may be. From what I understand about Project Management & Analytics or Financial Analytics/Information & Business Insights, it stretches across diverse learning fields including the Wellness profession. In addendum, the study can be continued-learning from the teachings of the online MBA, like a buildup of academic work—online vs in-person study and curriculum scope. I believe this answered the question.

Also, it depends on how eagerly you want your son's company. However, I will recommend the study permit. You can always act to sponsor him through school and/or include him in your PR application when you intend to apply, among other ways. If the patience and/or time are available, he can leverage the EE route if he can score high as possible. But work experience and one degree may likely drop his CRS score.

The process is simplified and can be done yourself if you have the time—to handle the process as well as gather the knowledge through researching the IRCC website and this study thread. You can also decide to read through my posts, I believe it will also be insightful. If you can afford the service of an Immigration Lawyer, it is pretty much allowed. From what I know, applications made by immigration lawyers are not treated with special attention by IRCC and it is also not a guarantee that the application outcome would be positive. Sad enough, only a few immigration lawyers know their onions. I will recommend you handle it yourself. My opinion.

Good morning,

I did my biometrics in Abuja last week, and I was given a photocopy of my passport back, with a sticker that has my biometrics unique number on it, and the signature of the lady that took my information, and told that's all

Reading through the previous pages of this thread, I read about a yellow slip, but I wasn't given that.

Please I was hoping you or anyone who knows can tell me if this is a problem.
Thank you so much.

Hello Deebee13,

Chill and try to save some stress for IRCC. Things evolve. As long as the slip or paper contains biometrics payment, biometrics, passport biodata, and VFS authentication information, you are good.

Also, you can compare with others that submitted (almost) at the same time as you.

So I later got refused and I ordered the note this was the reason.
I have typed this sense and I got aired all through please can somtell REPLY

Pls gurus in the house I would appreciate your response on this; for someone who already possess a Ordinary National Diploma with 3.42 CGPA of 5.0. Can the person apply for a post graduate diploma in a university or college in Canada ?

Hello Bioladebs93,

It boils down to the program's competitiveness, conditions, and/or department requirements. Most colleges will normally require your First degree or Advanced Diploma.

I don't know whether the same thing applies to Canada, but let me just tell you what the Visa Officer that interviewed me for a student visa in 2019 at the US Consulate as quoted below:

"Your school fees is N10m and the balance in the bank account of the company you presented to be your sponsor is also N10m. It's not possible for the company to spend all its money on you alone without being affected. Your visa application is therefore refused."

Na so the woman just handed me that rejection paper.

So, I'm guessing the VO refused your application maybe because the difference between your total expected cost in Canada and the total amount in the company's plus your dad's accounts is too small.
