GloriousGbola:Do we know if Nigeria purchased it for them or just doled out the money? These are examples of communication gaps in the Buhari administration. |
Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by GloriousGbola: 7:35pm On Aug 05, 2022 |
Android22: And this was in feburary. When dollar was still around 500 or so. Even a maxed out luxury land cruiser is 105000 usd. So it still comes to 50m or so per vehicle And HOW is it that this did not pass through our house of reps or our bureau of public procurement? |

GloriousGbola: What is the landing cost of a 2022 Toyota Landcruiser to Nigeria. Purchase, shipping and clearing. Lets take away the bulletproofing cost since there will be a lot of assumptions if we are to assume it was done by a 3rd party or if Toyota sells armoured version If purchased as armoured I don't know the price most website want you to request a quote but I am seeing this from my random google search https://carbuzz.com/news/277000-armored-toyota-land-cruiser-offers-the-ultimate-protection So what is the point here? Is it about the morality of Nigeria in its current state helping out and spending money on Niger or that The cars are to expensive for the price quoted |
Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by GloriousGbola: 7:51pm On Aug 05, 2022 |
raumdeuter: Let us agree that it is a matter of policy, even though all this helping hand to Niger only started with Buhari. Which would imply it is not so much policy as his personal whim Secondly, all the talk about armoured cars is just conjecture. All we have is that the fg ordered 10 land cruisers at 1.45 billion to 'enhance nigers security' Ironically, it has Always been Chad in the News for fighting bh, with their late presido stunting on the front lines. There is no information as to exactly how they are intended to enahance security. And the contract to procure them is awarded to a no name company So in summary, We have the president doling out largesse on his personal whims We have an obviously inflated contract We have zero oversight with even the finance minister throwing up her hands and saying, what am I supposed to do if the president wants to blow money in a sinking economy? We have a contract awarded to a no name company. And rather than buy Nigerian to grow the economy, our president is importing vehicles It sums up the Buhari years in a nutshell and explains some of the reasons why we are fked |

Android22: Can food relief of locally sourced grains (for an obvious disaster) worth 54m be equated with 1.45 billion of overpriced no bid imported vehicles for a vague purpose? And 2005 was a much more prosperous time than 2022. |
Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by raumdeuter: 8:08pm On Aug 05, 2022 |
GloriousGbola: Chad is to our North East borders Borno. At the moment insecurity has spread to other areas including Zamfara Katsona Sokoto etc in the BBC interview, One f the bandit said he got his machine gun from Niger If Nigerien govt asks for vehicle as part of our aid to them, Are you suggesting we send Innoson to them when many state govt in Nigeria dont use it Its either we are a part of that policy of aiding our neighbors or we are not. We dont produce anything so all our effort to help anyone means we are importing. All we spent on Ecomog in Liberia and SierraLeone was mainly on imported equipments 1 Like |
Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by raumdeuter: 8:09pm On Aug 05, 2022 |
We can argue if we should in our current state be helping other nations. That is one argument but there are counters to it that if our neighbors are insecure we will also share part of that wahala When your roommate is busy consuming beans all day and you no talk, when his farts no gree you sleep for night |

Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by Android22: 8:14pm On Aug 05, 2022 |
raumdeuter:The foreign aid argument in the midst of being broke is the most nonsensical argument ever considering the amount. Money for foreign aid is budgeted. I already said the President now has the discretion as to where and how it is appropriated. There is not a single penny that BoJo gave to Ukraine that could not have been used to alleviate the homelessness or heating/cooling situation in the UK. Yet he still did it because he had to. |
Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by GloriousGbola: 8:15pm On Aug 05, 2022 |
raumdeuter: You need to come home. It is innoson vehicles the federal govt is buying for police, military, customs and Co. If I recall it is policy that the vehicles should be locally done.if it is not innoson, it is JAC. And we have discussed extensively on this thread about how the govt is buying proforce for the Military. This would not Raise so many red flags If Buhari was not also having a rail line built to Niger. He is the only one who knows the nature of his relationship with Niger |
Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by GloriousGbola: 8:20pm On Aug 05, 2022 |
Android22: I was there. You have no idea how heady those days were. People were coming home enmasse. Reverse Japa. This is why despite his flaws I will say obj was our best president. 'It's the economy, stupid!' that phrase is the ultimate measure of any administration. People were starting work with 250k jobs. You knew all you had to do was hustle and wait and you too would get a great job. I interviewed with. Glo, v mobile, did tests and eventually landed an oil job. People were hammering on the stock market bubble Telecoms had opened up multiple industries. Dollar even briefly dropped. People actually lost money holding dollars at a point. One of my colleagues at one of my early jobs was complaining. 1 Like |

Android22: the money was not budgeted. We read the words of our finance minister. Whatever the president says. I don't know why you keep calling the names of prosperous first world countries. How come we suddenly cannot imitate same countries fiscal responsibility, respect for human rights and adherence to process? I would even understand if it was analogs to Nigeria being referenced. India, Pakistan. But no, I keep hearing us and Britain. Maybe I too should allow my spend to be guided by the actions of people with incomes x1000 of mine |
Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by GloriousGbola: 8:36pm On Aug 05, 2022 |
raumdeuter: As usual there was no outcome of the investigation by EFCC. Just noise and vibes and a repeat of the same procurement shenanigans 7 years later. The only thing we can draw from this is that Buhari is ultimately gej 2.0 The contract was awarded in February. All we have is a shadow awardee and no response from the government showing the actual purchased vehicles. This is dasuki all over again 'Security purposes' |
Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by Android22: 8:38pm On Aug 05, 2022 |
GloriousGbola:This is errant nonsense. Did I not mention current challenges both nations are experiencing that their so-called prosperity could have been channeled towards? When will you also ask for Nigeria to return all the aids we have received? |

Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by Android22: 8:42pm On Aug 05, 2022 |
Revisionist nonsense as usual. As though sanctions were not lifted following Obasanjo's election victory and Nigeria's segue into "Democracy" that allowed for foreign companies to ply their trade in Nigeria. |
Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by GloriousGbola: 8:43pm On Aug 05, 2022 |
Android22: Is Nigeria receiving aid from fellow third world countries or first world countries? You realise these countries you are referencing have States with bigger economies than nigeria? Oya Raumdeuter, would you say. 1.4.billion is material to Nigeria right now? Or do we, like the world's super powers have enough resources to play big brother and soft diplomacy? |
Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by GloriousGbola: 8:45pm On Aug 05, 2022 |
Android22: If you were you would not be asking such questions. Nobody who was actually working in Nigeria in 2005 would make claims that the economy was bad at the time. |
Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by Android22: 8:47pm On Aug 05, 2022 |
GloriousGbola:Between Nigeria and Niger which of them is closer to being first world? And again spare me the worthless bigger economy excuse. As they are bigger is that an excuse to ignore their own challenges and turn to other nations to help them? You see now that it is easier to criticize than be objective? I can literally show you why no nation should help less prosperous nations since there will always be a need in that so-called prosperous nation that such monies should have been channeled to. |

Android22: Yes. Revisionist nonsense. Maybe you should ask Buhari about that. Since he seems bent on returning us to abacha pariah status. That is why companies like twitter are building their hq in Ghana instead of Nigeria. If I. Recall, toyota now has a Ghana plantnl as well. And companies like mtn and dstv are constantly being shaken down on alleged tax evasion, and dubai Air is reducing flights because their money is trapped. You are watching a complete return to the abacha days, complete with methanol fuel replacing smelly fuel. But keep going on about revisionism |

Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by Illimitable: 8:57pm On Aug 05, 2022 |
GloriousGbola: Nigeria stopped being good economically after the oil boom. By the mid-80s, the country was as hard as fück. In the next 15 years, people would come on this site to say 2020 wasn’t that bad for the working class. Nigeria went through Austerity under Shagari, MAMSER & SAP under IBB. They were tough times. Ebenezer Obey sang “Formula 0-1-0” in the late 80s. The song described how majority of Nigerians had one meal per day. Nigerians have always had it extremely hard. 2 Likes |

GloriousGbola: 1.4b is material to Nigeria at every point in time and even now. If this was a deal or agreement signed with Niger do you suggest we ignore it? We have security challenges and our neighbors need to help us to do as well. Its why the US keeps sending money to Mexico and Central American countries to help them secure America |
Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by GloriousGbola: 8:59pm On Aug 05, 2022 |
Android22: Ironically you are still crediting Obj for establishing PENCOM. Just as he established conmess, which regularised doctors salaries and reduced doctor japaing You don't know that pension fraud is about Nigerians greed? Is it not under buharis watch we saw maina dancing up and down? I am sure we will still find the man is not in prison. |
