ASUU should GTFO.

I'm with Keyamo on this. If they can't do the work they should resign. This nonsense where employees can decide to hold their employers to ransom at the detriment of students must stop.

If you get paid when you do not work, why will you actually want to work

Any parent wey dey earn well and has their child still in 100l or 200l should just withdraw them and have them restart from Convenant, Babcock or Bowen. I can assure them the child will finish NYSC before his former coursemates in Federal varsities.

It's obvious this ASUU vs FG matter no dey end soon. With people like Keyamo and Ngige at the negotiation table, it will always end in deadlock and ASUU stubborn pass cow. It's a long ride for those students

That was what happened in my time. I know a guy who was sent out of Ife for poor grades after our year 2. Went to Babcock and still graduated before us

it is difficult for me to muster sympathy for ASUU, because most of the lecturers are sadistic bastards in their own right

the other day i met a 100l guy in unilag who talked about how a lecturer was boasting that the highest score in his course is a D

lecturers actively celebrating the failing students because they somehow cannot see that it is really a blight on their reputation as teachers

and i am sure we saw the sex for grades video

ole men gleefully failing students and using their potbelly to drag chicks with their son's age mates

Multiple graduation in OAU you will hear "Students in the department of Geology have refused to graduate"

The bold is exactly my point every member regardless of your position in the APC will have to bear the consequences of Buhari's performance.

This life is funny sha. I remember how late senator John McCain and George Bush Jr were rivals for the Republican presidential nomination. Later McCain was still painted with the failures of the Bush presidency when he contested against Obama despite the fact that he might not have support any of George Ws policies.

Part of the obvious failures of the Buhari administration. Some of his appointments were incredibly stupid.

Meanwhile, it was only 2014 I supported Buhari. Although I did not want Atiku to win in 2019, I was less bullish in my support of Buhari.

Yes it's only a foolish or very abulic person that would proudly say he's undecided right now.
Are you not in Nigeria? The bread I used to buy for 800 before is now 2000 today. And we used to consume 2 before. That's just Bread oo, before we talk about other staples that have ballooned in price.

Are you not in Nigeria with us, hearing 0f the numerous insecurity issues paralyzing the country. I'm not even talking about the domestic terrorism issue, I'm talking of the everyday common crime that goes unreported, we're talking buglaries and the likes.

Then you have a chance to wipe away the old class of politicians and vote people like me with a tenacious zeal to get things right and be uncompromising in our ideals of how government should be. There are soo many fresh politicians springing up in the labor party, you are assured of us starting with a clean slate but no, you are still be undecided. That tomfoolery of the highest order.

It's tomfoolery because I am not going all over the internet singing "kumbaya, Obi is the savior".
You mentioned problems facing the country, does having problems automatically translate to jumping on the nearest snake oil salesman? Yes, Obi is a snake oil salesman. I can/will vote for him, but I will never market him.
In 2014, GEJ was bad, people just anointed Buhari as a Saint to lead us out of problems, no questions asked, I smell the same tactics.
If you want to keep crying whenever anyone asks a question of Obi, your problem, but don't expect people with good memory and functioning brains to not ask questions of him.

Diezani Allison madueke was born with silver spoons sticking out of every orifice. The woman was a director in Shell. You cannot begin go imagine the money she had seen.

Yet she went crazy as petroleum minister basically highlighting why obj and now Buhari made themselves substantive petroleum ministers.

You can maybe understand some dude with a poor background being greedy, but a person who had always been rich, always had everything? That is what the Nigerian system, esp in an fg where there are zero consequences and accountability does.

Sounds funny and bizarre, but all sorts of shiit goes on naija universities. I was in Unilorin in the 90s. Oba was vc. The man had a running fight with ASUU almost from day 1.his first day of resuming, there was a 6 foot snake in his office.

Allegedly at a point killers went to his house

Basically I guess there was a cabal of lecturers with their own agenda.

In the end Oba prevailed and I guess Unilorin was better for it. But we chop strike well during that period. But the next sets had completely unbroken sessions

Whether we like it or not, one govt will have to call the bluff of ASUU, sack those sackable and restore sanity into our institutions.

It is really close to impossible to call the bluff of a union in a democracy. Even the military administrations could not do that much.

I think The solution is autonomy. Let the universities self fund and charge students accordingly.

This whole free tertiary education is simply no longer sustainable in Nigeria as it is.

Most people from the legacy first gen Universities will always deny it, but they are disadvantaged in the marketplace for high tier entry level jobs. Those are going straight to covenant grads, who are actually taught up to date, relevant curricula for the modern workplace.

As long as we think we can teach everyone for free this will continue.

The bold has always been my position. If it were easy previous military administrations would've done it successfully and even a strong willed democratic president like Obj would've done it. So I don't know why this weak APC government think it will be possible.

And yes it's true the highly subsidised University education is leading us nowhere, but we are not ready for conversation. If u raise it, the typical Nigerian will assume cos u are out of the Uni's and will not be directly affected by the increase in fees is the reason u are making such suggestion.

Every APC member whether in power or not will always get dragged for Buhari's failures it's part and parcel of politics. The way you carry yourself and how well you can explain your role in PMB's government or not will determine the level of drags you will get.

This is valid and it’s an excellent point.

chrisooblog:

Osinbajo yes is part of the government, but did he take all the critical decisions involving security? Even with economy how much of his ideas were implemented? I can only judge PYO based on the assignments he was given and his time as acting president which to me were satisfactory.

Please don’t make excuses for Osinbajo.

Let’s assume Buhari was able to completely transform Nigeria into Dubai in the last 7 years, would Osinbajo not co-claim the credits for a job well done?

But now that their performance is poor, you want to make excuses for PYO? It doesn’t work that way. He’s part of this government and he deserves the exact treatment you would give Buhari.

If Osinbajo was being sidelined or ignored, why didn’t he resign?

chrisooblog:

As for Tinubu he can't be held responsible for Buhari's performances but he has to chop the cane for installing a "failure" like PMB. The bottom line is if BAT is going to use Buhari's infrastructural successes to campaign then he's going to have to grind his teeth and accept PMB's security and economic failures.

The fact of the matter is Tinubu’s only play to get this far is by joining forces with Buhari. Without aiding Buhari’s victory in 2015, he would never have won the APC primary.

Politics is a quid pro quo game. Rub my back, I rub yours sort of. Tinubu wanted the presidency but he didn’t have the numerical advantage that Buhari had in 2015.

Buhari had the North on lock down but without the capital to face PDP(a team of oil block owners) so he teamed up with Mr moneybags(Tinubu) in a deal that worked out as Buhari to go first and Tinubu should wait and come in later.

Yes it's difficult to excuse PYO from Buhari's failures, but under the Nigerian constitution the role of a VP is clearly defined as whatever the president assigns to him apart. So Osinbajo has some wiggle room to deny some of the stuff he had no hand in. He's not the commander in chief that is PMB. Yes as a team collectively he will accept blame but every fair person no say no be him cos am.

Of course to win elections you will attach yourself to anything that will make you win, but years from now no reasonable person will say it was PYO that built second niger bridge or lagos-ibadan railway. Same way Atiku can't claim he helped nigeria secure debt relief when it was all OBJ.

Except for playing to the gallery how will his resignation have helped? Plus he had presidential ambitions so it would have made no sense to resign.

Osinbajo doesn’t have any wiggle room.

If the going was extremely good, he would have claimed credits and actually use it as a crutch to make further claims to the presidency.

If the going is bad(as it is), he has to also shoulder the responsibility. This is the Rashford syndrome playing out in politics.

When Rashford scores, he’s a great player, second to none, the young Ronaldo. When Rashford doesn’t score, it’s the fault of the manager. He’s not being used well. He had no preseason, he’s playing in the wrong position.

Nothing is ever his fault.
