Hello good people, I came back home today and met my fridge not working. Checked the socket and found out that both positive and neutral have voltage on them. I traced it all the way to the inverter (Felicity ivps3524). I then disconnected both Ac output terminals from the Inverter, switch back on the inverter and both positive and neutral AC output have voltage on them. Has anyone experienced this? |

zeestone99: We don't have mains supply for now. Will check later when the mains supply(NEPA) is back. But I have been off grid for the pass one week now. 2. No, no bypass installed, all goes tru the inverter except the larger appliances |

FireTheSun: My apologies for bringing this up again as I believe it must have been settled as we always do. Once a while on this thread, the monsters in us manage to creep out but one thing that stands out is that we always thrash things out amicably and then the monsters creep back in until it's another time to rock and roll. Truth be told, I'd have argued that I've never had a war of words with @truthbetold if the pages were not referred to as evidences and I was amused going thru my posts on those referenced pages. A weakness is that I don't easily recollect things like that. In one AliExpress thread like that, an inquiry of importance was made by a user who had literarily "abused" me many pages back, I'd already quoted him and posted the helpful reply to his inquiry before the username rang a bell and I recalled the incident. Of course I resisted the urge to delete my helpful post. All what I'm trying to say is that we learn everyday and I have again pick a few things which I already know before now First is that as long as we are users of it, the Internet provides a vast repository and references of our footprints. Second is that it's wise that we are quite mindful of our interactions thru this medium much the same way we will do in real life scenarios. Although a little difference is that on the internet, we can still manage to go back and edit/undo what we have posted; that is if our village people have not prompted other users to screenshot the original post or quoted it Third is that a recipient(s) of our unsavoury actions on the Internet and with such incontrovertible evidences provided by it, has the right and discretion to pay us back in our own coins, or not. Fourth is that I have been away from this thread for almost 3 weeks and have missed the interactions. And the first read after my last post here ńa war of words I jam. 3 Likes |

mctfopt: @bolded is exactly what happens in decent countries where their leaders are not dealers that see the citizens as goldmines for money to keep funding their (politicians') avaricious lifestyles the way it is run in Nigeria. Okay. They only passed a bill that is long overdue, much like passing a bill in 2022 empowering Nigerians to sink boreholes for household water supply, something that has been happening for ages. The more sinister approach this time around which Nigerians need to be wary of, is that the senate/Nigerian politicians are trying to colour efforts of Nigerians at sourcing their own power supply with a paint of legitimacy for now. In the nearest future, they will bring another bill to tax the operators of private power supplies (possibly including private home solar installations) and when you try to cry foul at the wickedness, they point you to the point in recent history when a bill was passed allowing you to operate same. "So tell us why we can now not pass a bill taxing you for operating such", they'll say. This is what it looks like to me. |

earthrealm: Thanks for the enlightenment, this is the best info I have gotten regarding my intended setup. I was thinking (4) * 300 Watts Panel will be too much on (2) * 150ah Luminous Tubular or should I go with (4) * 250 Watts Panel? Secondly what about I get battery charger so I can charge it faster on raining days with NEPA or Generator, if yes how many Amps battery charger should I go for? Lastly do I need battery desulphator? |
Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by NiyiOmoIyunade(m): 3:08pm On Aug 07, 2022 |
Why do you think 1,200watts of panels are too much for your 2units 12v 150Ah batteries? If you get very good panels and decent MPPT CC, your 4x300w panels can generate up to 4,800Wh on a good day, your 2x12vx150Ah batteries can store about 3,600Wh of energy of which you can expect to drain like 2,000Wh daily at about 50% DoD - you need to put back what you consume from the batteries so say roughly 2,350Wh (allow for charging inefficiencies/losses) needs to go back into the batteries from your solar panels daily. Above leaves you about 2,500Wh of free solar energy to use to run day time loads - your fridge alone can easily consume over 1,000Wh between 8am and 6pm - you can easily answer this question by attaching a watt meter (people here sell them) to the fridge for a week. Your fans, lights, TV can easily soak up the balance of solar energy generated. What am I trying to say? You should oversize your panels relative to your needs if you really want to enjoy solar energy - 4x yield from the panels depends on getting a quality product and decent sunshine and clear skies and these good conditions will certainly not happen everyday. With your flooded batteries, you do not really need a desulphator - a good equalization charge every 30 days should put you in a good place. If you size your panels properly with headroom, invest in a good panel brand and decent MPPT CC, you won't really need an external charger - you want to keep things as simple as you can with a basic setup like you are contemplating. TechGeek777: Note all lead acid batteries must bow to the C/10 rule, though some premium models claim C/20. What this means in simple terms is that you shudnt charge or discharge at above 10% of battery capacity.so your 150ah bank .this is 15amps max, you could have even get away with C/15 to C/20 if its not done too often. Charging leadacid battery above their specification causes them to heat up and the internal lead plates buckle & deteriorate. 4 x 300 watts is ok, as due to inefficiencies and other reasons..you would likely be getting about 600watts to 900 watts on the average. You may set your cc to cap current @ 40amps..if it has that functionality.... The slight drawback would be some energy might be wasting on super sunny days when you are running heavy loads and your panel may want to push 50amps to the for the load and battery charging to share... You dont need an external charger, your inverter charging shud be adequate. What you need more is a means to manually send 15.5volts or 31v since urs is 24v bank to the battery pack every month for 4 to 6hrs for a process called equalization&desulphation.....what this does in essence is to boil the flooded battery so the electrolyte mixes thoroughly and deposites on the lead plates inside the battery are dissollved/knocked off. Note: only flooded battery need this periodic boiling 3 Likes |
